Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a table, and more particularly to a table having one or more peripheral frames attached to the front and/or the side portions thereof, for reinforcing or decorative purposes or the like.
- 2. Description of the Prior Art
- Typical tables, such as the tables for supporting computer facilities and the peripheral facilities thereof, comprise a planar table top for supporting the computer facilities and the peripheral facilities thereof.
- No peripheral frames have been provided and attached to either the front or the side portions of the table, for reinforcing or for decorative purposes. Accordingly, when a pad is disposed on top of the table top of the typical tables, the pad may be moved relative to the table, and may not be suitably positioned to the table.
- Similarly, the stationery goods, such as pens, pencils, or the like that are supported on the table top of the typical tables may also have a good chance to be moved relative to the table, and may be easily dropped from the table.
- The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages of the conventional tables for computer facilities or the like.
- The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a table including one or more peripheral frames attached to the front and/or the side portions thereof, for reinforcing or decorative purposes, or for position the pads or the stationery goods on top of the table.
- In accordance with one aspect of the invention, there is provided a table comprising a table top including a front portion and two side portions, a front frame including a rear portion having a channel formed therein and defined by a lower casing and an upper flap, to receive the front portion of the table top, and to position the front frame to the table top, and two side frames each including a channel formed therein and defined by a lower casing and an upper flap, to receive the side portions of the table top respectively, and to position the side frames to the table top respectively, and means for securing the side frames to the front frame.
- Two couplers may further be provided and attached between the front frame and the side frames respectively. The couplers each include a depression formed therein and defined by a peripheral shoulder, the side frames each include a front portion engaged into the depressions of the couplers respectively.
- The couplers each includes an orifice formed therein, the front portions of the side frames each include a recess formed therein and aligned with the orifices of the couplers respectively, and the securing means includes two fasteners engaged through the recesses of the side frames and the orifices of the couplers respectively, and engaged into the table top, to secure the side frames and the couplers to the table top.
- The side frames each include a cap engaged into the recess thereof, to shield the fastener. The couplers each further include a swelling extended therefrom and engaged into the orifice of the coupler, to further position the coupler to the side frame.
- The front frame includes a chamber formed therein and having two ends, the couplers each includes a projection extended therefrom, and engaged into the ends of the chamber of the front frame, to position and secure the couplers to the front frame.
- Further objectives and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a careful reading of the detailed description provided hereinbelow, with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a table in accordance with the present invention;
- FIG. 2 is an exploded view of the table;
- FIG. 3 is an enlarged partial exploded view of the table;
- FIG. 4 is an enlarged partial perspective view of the table;
- FIG. 5 is a partial cross sectional view taken along lines5-5 of FIG. 1;
- FIG. 6 is an enlarged partial cross sectional view taken along lines6-6 of FIG. 5; and
- FIG. 7 is a partial cross sectional view taken along lines7-7 of FIG. 4, illustrating the operation of the table.
- Referring to the drawings, and initially to FIGS. 1-5 a table in accordance with the present invention comprises a
table top 10 including afront portion 11 and twoside portions front frame 20 to be attached to thefront portion 11 of thetable top 10, and twoside frames 30 to be attached to theside portions table top 10 respectively. - The
front frame 20 includes a curved orrounded front portion 21 having achamber 25 formed therein, and includes achannel 22 formed in the rear portion thereof, and defined by alower casing 23 and anupper flap 24, for receiving thefront portion 11 of thetable top 10, and for positioning thefront frame 20 to thetable top 10. Thecasing 23 of thefront frame 20 includes one or more recesses orbent portions 27 formed in the bottom portion thereof for reinforcing purposes. - Two
couplers 40 each may include aprojection 41 extended therefrom, to engage into thechamber 25 or the ends of thefront frame 20, and thus to position or secure thecouplers 40 to the ends of thefront frame 20. Thecouplers 40 each may include adepression 42 formed in the outer portion thereof and formed or defined by aperipheral shoulder 44, and each may include anorifice 43 formed therein and communicating with thedepression 42 thereof to receive afastener 47. - The
side frames 30 each may include afront portion 31 received in thedepression 42 of therespective coupler 40, and having a corresponding curvature or shape or contour for snugly engaging onto theperipheral shoulder 44 of therespective coupler 40, and thus for positioning thecoupler 40 to theside frame 30. It is preferable that thefront portions 31 of theside frames 30 each may include aswelling 32 extended therefrom (FIG. 6) and engaged into thecorresponding orifice 43 of thecoupler 40, for further positioning thecoupler 40 to theside frame 30. - The
side frames 30 each may include achannel 33 formed therein and defined by alower casing 34 and an upper flap 37 (FIG. 7), for receiving thecorresponding side portions 12 of thetable top 10, and for positioning or securing theside frames 30 to thetable top 10. - The
front portions 31 of theside frames 30 are preferably flush with the outer surfaces of thecouplers 40 respectively, and each may further include arecess 35 formed therein to receive ahead 48 of thefastener 47. Thefasteners 47 may be engaged through therecesses 35 of therespective side frames 30, and through the (FIG. 6) and engaged into thecorresponding orifices 43 of thecouplers 40, and engaged into thetable top 10, to solidly secure theside frames 30 and thus thecouplers 40 and thefront frame 20 to thetable top 10. Twocaps 36 may be engaged into therecesses 35 of therespective side frames 30, in order to shield thefasteners 47. - In operation, as shown in FIG. 4, when the
front frame 20 is secured onto thefront portion 11 of thetable top 10, theupper flap 24 of thefront frame 20 may form or define ashoulder 26 between theupper flap 24 of thefront frame 20 and thefront portion 11 of thetable top 10. Thepad 50 that is supported on top of thetable top 10 may thus be retained in the upper portion of thetable top 10 by theupper flap 24 of thefront frame 20. - As shown in FIG. 7, the stationery goods, such as the
pen 90 that is supported on top of thetable top 10, may be engaged with theupper flap 37 of theside frames 30, and may be prevented from being dropped from thetable top 10. - Accordingly, the table in accordance with the present invention includes one or more peripheral frames attached to the front and/or the side portions thereof, for reinforcing or decorative purposes, or for position the pads or the stationery goods on top of the table.
- Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be understood that the present disclosure has been made by way of example only and that numerous changes in the detailed construction and the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
