Abstract
A hair accessories bag includes a substantially rigid body, a handle, at least one removable compartment, and an at least partially detachable flap. The body includes an interior surface that defines a first storage area, an exterior surface, and an opening. The handle is disposed on the exterior surface of the body, and the at least one removable compartment is demountably attached to the interior surface of the body and is disposed in the first storage area. The flap is disposed near a front of the body, and is adapted to cover the opening of the body.
Description
- The present disclosure relates generally to bags for storing and transporting items and, more particularly, to a transportable hair accessories bag.
- Cosmetic bags and other types of containers for storing or moving beautification products are generally known in the art. Such bags or containers come in a great variety of shapes and sizes and include different features.
- In one example, U.S. Pat. No. 5,950,826 discloses a curling iron travel case which is flexible and readily disposed for placement into luggage while the curling iron remains hot. The travel case is particularly disposed to store one or more curling irons and a number of hair care accessories that a user may desire to carry along with the curling iron. The travel case is constructed of a first sheet of material, at least one row of pockets formed on one side of the first sheet, and a second sheet of material secured to the other side of the first sheet. The first sheet of material and each of the pockets are formed of a noncombustible heat resistant fabric, and the second sheet of material is a quilted fabric which provides additional insulation. One of the pockets in each of the rows is sufficiently deep to completely receive the heatable member of a curling iron. Adjacent pockets are disposed to receive the electrical cord and other hair care accessories. The travel case is provided with hook and loop type fasteners for releasably securing the travel case in a closed position.
- In another example, U.S. Pat. No. 6,102,172 discloses a wheeled cosmetic carrying case having a handle and wheel assembly for transporting a trunk-like box with a front closure member fastened as by a zipper over an open top of the box. The closure member carries external compartments which are unzipped to open outwardly for displaying auxiliary material, thus augmenting the space provided by the compartmentalized interior. The method includes the step of securing the closure member over the trunk-like box by closing a zipper for positioning externally accessible compartments as well as complementary compartments for carrying cosmetics within the box.
- In another example, U.S. Pat. No. 6,681,936 discloses a cosmetic and utility kit including a container formed with a back side, bottom side, front side and opposite lateral side and further includes an extension flap extending from the back side that folds over the bottom side, front side and top side to enclose contents within the container.
- In accordance with one aspect of the disclosure, a hair accessories bag is disclosed. The hair accessories bag includes a substantially rigid body, a handle, at least one removable compartment, and an at least partially detachable flap. The substantially rigid body includes an interior surface that defines a first storage area, an exterior surface, and an opening. The at least one removable compartment is disposed in the first storage area, and is demountably attached to the interior surface of the body. The flap is disposed near a front of the body and is adapted to cover the opening, thereby closing the opening in the body.
- In accordance with another aspect of the disclosure, a hair accessories bag is disclosed. The hair accessories bag includes a substantially rigid body, a handle, a second storage area, and an at least partially detachable flap. The substantially rigid body includes an interior surface that defines a first storage area, an exterior surface, and an opening. The second storage area is disposed on the exterior surface of the body. At least an interior of the second storage area is constructed from a thermally-resistant material. The handle is disposed on the exterior surface of the body, and the flap is disposed near a front of the body and is adapted to cover the opening, thereby closing the opening in the body.
- In accordance with another aspect of the disclosure, a hair accessories bag is disclosed. The hair accessories bag includes a substantially rigid body, a handle, a second storage area, a plurality of translucent removable compartments, and a flap. The substantially rigid body includes an interior surface that defines a first storage area, an exterior surface, and an opening. The second storage area is disposed on the exterior surface of the body, and is constructed such that at least an interior of the second storage area is a thermally-resistant material. The plurality of translucent removable compartments is vertically stacked in the first storage area, and at least one of the pluralities of compartment is attached to the interior surface of the body. The handle is disposed on the exterior surface of the body, and the flap is disposed on the exterior of the body adapted to cover the opening, thereby closing the opening in the body.

It should be understood, however, that there is no intention to limit the invention to the specific forms disclosed, but on the contrary, the intention is to cover all modifications, alternative constructions, and equivalents falling within the spirit and scope of the disclosure as defined by the appended claims.
- Referring now to the drawings, and with specific reference to
FIG. 1 , a hair accessories bag constructed in accordance with the teachings of the disclosure is generally depicted byreference numeral 20. As shown therein, thehair accessories bag 20 in this exemplary embodiment includes abody 22, aninterior storage area 24, one or moreremovable compartments 25, a plurality ofexterior storage areas 26, ahandle 28, and acover 30. - The
body 22, as illustrated inFIG. 2 , may be constructed from a number of materials, including but not limited to, plastics, metals, fabrics, composites, and/or a combination thereof, and in this embodiment is constructed from a black nylon material. Thebody 22 may be generally rigid having generally rectangular shape and may include atop 32, abottom 34, afront 36, arear 38, afirst side 40, asecond side 42, anexterior surface 44, and aninterior surface 46. Thetop 32 andbottom 34, thefront 36 and rear 38, and thefirst side 40 and thesecond side 42, may all be generally parallel to each other, thereby creating a box-like shape. - The
interior storage area 24 may be defined by thebody 22 and, more specifically, may be defined by theinterior surface 46 of thebody 22. Theinterior storage area 24 may be divided into one or more sections by one ormore dividers 48 and, as in this embodiment, theinterior storage area 24 may be divided into a first and a secondvertical section divider 48 therebetween. Theinterior storage area 24 may further include afirst part 53 a of a fastening mechanism 53, which may be one or more Velcro® strips or areas to engage and retain thecompartments 25 in theinterior storage area 24 in a manner discussed in more detail below. - The one or more
removable compartments 25 may have a generally box-like shape, and may be disposed in theinterior storage area 24. More specifically, as seen inFIG. 3 , thecompartments 25 may include anupper portion 54, alower portion 56, and arear portion 58, which may all be constructed from a soft translucent plastic material. Thecompartment 25 may further include anopenable lid 60 disposed near theupper portion 54 of thecompartment 25, that may be opened and/or closed via a zipper-type fastening system 55. Asecond portion 53 b of the fastening system 53 system may also be disposed near therear portion 58 of thecompartment 25 adapted to removeably or demountably attach thecompartment 25 to thebody 22, and more specifically, to demountably attach therear portion 58 of thecompartment 25 to theinterior surface 46 of thebody 22, as seen inFIG. 4 . Thecompartment 25 may be adapted to be stacked on top of one another, and may be sized and/or shaped to fit with in a specific section or storage area. For example, as seen inFIG. 4 , thecompartment 25 may have a width and depth that correspond to the width and depth of thefirst section 50, thereby allowing thecompartments 25 to be vertically stacked without substantial movement of thecompartment 25 within thebody 22. Alternatively and/or additionally to the above embodiments, thehair accessories bag 20 may include one ormore lips 61 or other retention means for retaining thecompartments 25 in theinterior storage area 24 and/or the firstvertical section 50. More specifically, thelip 61 may be disposed near an outer edge of thedivider 48, and/or on theinterior surface 46 near thefront 36 of thebody 22. - The plurality of
exterior storage areas 26 may be pocket-like storage areas, and may be disposed on theexterior surface 44 of the body 22 (FIGS. 1 and 4 ). More specifically, as seen inFIG. 5 , theexterior storage areas 26 may include afront portion 62 and anupper portion 64, and may be constructed from the black nylon material. Theexterior surface 44, as seen inFIG. 5 , may be part of theexterior storage areas 26 alternatively, however, theexterior storage areas 26 may be wholly separate from thebody 22. Theexterior storage areas 26 may further include anopening 66 for inserting and removing items into and from theexterior storage areas 26. Theopening 66 may be opened and/or closed via a zipper-type fastening system which may, as in this exemplary embodiment, be disposed along the majority of thefront portion 62 and theupper portions 64. Theexterior storage areas 26 may further include thermally-resistant material in one or more areas of theexterior storage areas 26. For example, the entireexterior storage area 26 may be constructed from the thermally-resistant material. Alternatively, only portions of theexterior storage areas 26, such as an interior lining or interior surface may be constructed from the thermally-resistant material. As such, hot or heated items such as rollers, curing irons, hair dryers, etc. may be placed in theexterior storage areas 26 while hot or heated without damaging theexterior storage areas 26, thehair accessories bag 20, and/or to limit the heat to theexterior storage areas 26. As seen inFIG. 1 , theexterior storage areas 26 may be disposed on the first andsecond sides body 22. - The
handle 28, as seen inFIG. 6 , is located on thebody 22, and may be disposed near the rear 38 of thebody 22. In this exemplary embodiment, thehandle 28 is disposed inside ahousing 65 attached to the rear 38 of thebody 22. Thehandle 28 may include atelescopic base portion 68 adapted to enable the extension and retraction of thehandle 28 from and into thebody 22 and/or thehousing 65, respectively. Thebase portion 68 may further include a locking mechanism (not shown), such that thehair accessories bag 20 may be carried by thehandle 28, without thebase portion 68 of thehandle 28 extending or retracting. - The
hair accessories bag 20 may further include one ormore wheels 104 disposed on or near thebody 22. For example, as seen inFIG. 6 , thewheels 104 may be disposed near a lower edge created by the bottom and rear 34, 38 thebody 22, such that thehair accessories bag 20 may be tilted and rolled on thewheels 104. - The
cover 30 may be a flap, or the like, and may be attached to thebody 22, and more specifically may be attached near a lower front edge of the front and bottom 36, 34 of thebody 22, as seen inFIG. 7 . Thecover 30 may include aninterior surface 70, anexterior surface 72, atop side 74, abottom side 75, afirst side 76, and asecond side 77, and may be constructed from the black nylon material. Thecover 30 may be adapted to cover or close anopening 78 in thebody 22 through which items may be inserted and removed into and from thebody 22. Theopening 78 may be disposed along the majority of the top andfront body 22, and as such, thecover 30 may be sized and shaped to cover theopening 78 of thebody 22. Thecover 30 may include a zipper type fastening system to fasten theflap 30 over theopening 78. The fastening system may be disposed on the first, second andtop sides cover 30, and as such, thebottom side 75 of thecover 30 may be fixedly attached to thebody 22. - The above exemplary embodiment may include many variations thereof to achieve and/or create additional or alternative features. For example, the
body 22, theinterior storage area 24, the one or moreremovable compartments 25, the plurality ofexterior storage areas 26, thehandle 28, and thecover 30, may be constructed from materials other than those illustrated herein, including but not limited to, plastics, metals, fabrics, composites, and/or a combination thereof. Thecompartments 25 may also be disposed elsewhere in of thebody 22, and may have other shapes and sizes complimentary to the interior 24 of thebody 22. For example, thecompartments 25 may be triangular, square, rectangular, round, oval, odd shaped, or a combination thereof, and may be constructed from an opaque material. Thecompartments 25 may also be constructed from a rigid or semi-rigid material. - The fastening systems referenced throughout may also include variations and/or additions. For example, the fastening systems may include zippers, snaps, hook and loop fasteners, such as Velcro®, button and hole fasteners, or any other type of fasteners adapted to close the
opening 78 of thebody 22 with thecover 30, close theopening 66 of theexterior storage areas 26, close thecompartments 25, and/or demountably attach thecompartment 25 to thebody 22. - The plurality of
exterior storage areas 26 may also vary in number, placement, and/or size and shape. For example, there may only be oneexterior storage area 26, and it may be located anywhere on thebody 22 and/or on thecover 30. In another exemplary embodiment, the one or moreexterior storage areas 26 may be disposed inside thebody 22 and/or be disposed within theinterior storage area 24, and as such may be referred to as the heatresistant storage area 26. - The
hair accessories bag 20 may further include one or more pockets, slits, pouches, chambers, receptacles, etc. disposed on or about thebody 22 for storing general and/or specific items. For example, as seen inFIG. 7 , theinterior surface 70 of thecover 30 may include one or moreelongate pockets 90 having anopening 92 disposed near a top of thepocket 90. Thepockets 90 may include a retainingsystem 96, such as a bungee, an elastic, or the like, to hold or secure items in thepockets 90. One ormore pockets 98 may also be disposed on theexterior surface 72 of thecover 30 for holding and/or storing scissors and/or shears.Pockets 100 may also be disposed to the interior of thebody 22, and or theexterior storage areas 26, as seen inFIG. 7 . - Foam and/or foam padding, may also be present in various areas of the
hair accessories bag 20, and in various forms. For example, thedivider 48 may be constructed from a rigid foam material, such that a rigid cushion is provided between the first and thesecond sections interior storage area 24. Similarly, thefront 36 of thebody 22, and more specifically, afront panel 102 disposed near a lower portion of thefront 36 of thebody 22 may be constructed from a rigid foam material, such that padding is provided for theinterior storage area 24 and/or thebody 22. Foam padding, rigid or otherwise, may also be provided in various parts of theexterior storage areas 26, such as for example, near or on surfaces or areas disposed away from thebody 22, such that padding provided for theexterior storage areas 26 and/or thebody 22. - In operation, the
hair accessories bag 20 may be utilized to store and/or transport various type of articles, and more specifically, may be utilized to store and/or transport hair accessories, such as rollers, curling irons, hair dryers, hair straighteners, barrettes, hair gel, hair spray, hair coloring accessories, scissors, shears, clippers, etc. - The user may place the various items into the
hair accessories bag 20, including but not limited to such storage areas as theinterior storage area 24, thecompartments 25, theexterior storage areas 26, and/or thepockets translucent compartments 25, such that it is easily ascertainable as to what items are in whichcompartment 25. As such, thecompartments 25 may be placed and/or stacked in theinterior storage area 24, all the while it being visually apparent which items are in whichcompartment 25. More specifically, thecompartments 25 may be removed from thebody 22 by disengaging the fastening system that connects thecompartments 25 to theinterior surface 46, such as for example, by pulling apart the Velcro® connection. Thecompartments 25 may then be filled with rollers and/or other items and, with thelid 60 in a close position, thecompartments 25 may be reconnected to thebody 22 via the Velcro® while being stacked. - Items which may be hot, or which may have the potential of becoming hot, may be placed in the
exterior storage areas 26. For example, curling irons, hair dryers, hair straighteners, etc., such that the heat or potential heat from the items is retained or limited to theexterior storage areas 26 due to the heat resistant material. Additionally, other items such as combs, shears, scissors etc., may be placed into and/or out of the variousother pockets - For transportation and/or storage of the items, the various parts of the
hair accessories bag 20 may be opened and/or closed. For example, the fastening system of thecover 30 may be utilized to open and/or close theopening 78 of thebody 22. Similarly, the fastening system of theexterior storage areas 26 may be utilized to open and/or close theopening 66 of theexterior storage areas 26. - When transporting the
hair accessories bag 20, the user may extend thebase 68 of thehandle 28 toward the user, such that the user may easily reach thehandle 28. The user may tilt thehair accessories bag 20 toward the user and roll thehair accessories bag 20 on thewheels 104. - While the present invention has been described with reference to specific examples, which are intended to be illustrative only and not to be limiting of the invention, it will be apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art that changes, additions or deletions may be made to the disclosed embodiments without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
Claims (22)
1. A hair accessories bag, comprising:
a substantially rigid body having an interior surface, an exterior surface, and an opening, wherein the interior surface defines a first storage area;
a handle disposed on the exterior surface of the body;
at least one removable compartment disposed in the first storage area, wherein the at least one removable compartment is demountably attached to the interior surface of the body; and
an at least partially detachable flap disposed near a front of the body adapted to cover the opening, thereby closing the opening in the body.
2. The hair accessories bag of claim 1 , wherein the handle is disposed on a rear of the body and includes a rigid telescopic extension.
3. The hair accessories bag of claim 1 , wherein the at least one removable compartment is constructed from a translucent material.
4. The hair accessories bag of claim 1 , wherein the at least one removable compartment is attached to the interior surface of the body with one of a hook and loop fastener, and a zipper.
5. The hair accessories bag of claim 4 , wherein the at least one removable compartment is attached to the interior surface of the body with Velcro®.
6. The hair accessories bag of claim 1 , further including a plurality of wheels disposed near a bottom of the body for rolling the hair accessories bag.
7. The hair accessories bag of claim 1 , further including a second storage area disposed on the exterior surface of the body, wherein at least an interior of the second storage area is constructed from a thermally-resistant material.
8. The hair accessories bag of claim 1 , wherein the flap is attached near a bottom of the body.
9. The hair accessories bag of claim 1 , wherein the opening is disposed on the majority of front and a top of the body.
10. The hair accessories bag of claim 1 , further including a second removable compartment disposed on top of the at least one removable compartment disposed.
11. A hair accessories bag, comprising:
a substantially rigid body having an interior surface, an exterior surface, and an opening, wherein the interior surface defines a first storage area;
a second storage area disposed on the exterior surface of the body, wherein at least an interior of the second storage area is constructed from a thermally-resistant material;
a handle disposed on the exterior surface of the body; and
an at least partially detachable flap disposed near a front of the body adapted to cover the opening, thereby closing the opening in the body.
12. The hair accessories bag of claim 11 , wherein the handle is disposed on a rear of the body and includes a rigid telescopic extension.
13. The hair accessories bag of claim 11 , further including at least one removable compartment disposed in the first storage area, wherein the at least one removable compartment is attached to the interior surface of the body.
14. The hair accessories bag of claim 13 , wherein the at least one removable compartment is constructed from a translucent material.
15. The hair accessories bag of claim 13 , wherein the at least one removable compartment is attached to the interior surface of the body with one of a hook and loop fastener, and a zipper.
16. The hair accessories bag of claim 15 , wherein at least one removable compartment is attached to the interior surface of the body with Velcro®.
17. The hair accessories bag of claim 11 , further including a plurality of wheels disposed near a bottom of the body for rolling the hair accessories bag.
18. The hair accessories bag of claim 11 , wherein the flap is attached near a bottom of the body.
19. The hair accessories bag of claim 11 , wherein the opening is disposed on the majority of front and a top of the body.
20. The hair accessories bag of claim 11 , wherein the second storage area is disposed on a first side of the body.
21. The hair accessories bag of claim 20 , further including a third storage area disposed on a second side of the body, wherein at least an interior of the second storage area is constructed from a thermally-resistant material.
22. A hair accessories bag, comprising:
a substantially rigid body having an interior surface, an exterior surface, and an opening, wherein the interior surface defines a first storage area;
a second storage area disposed on the exterior surface of the body, wherein at least an interior of the second storage area is constructed from a thermally-resistant material;
a plurality of translucent removable compartments vertically stacked in the first storage area, wherein the at least one of the plurality of compartment is attached to the interior surface of the body;
a handle disposed on the exterior surface of the body; and
a flap disposed on the exterior of the body adapted to cover the opening, thereby closing the opening in the body.
