Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to an exercise device, and more particularly to an exercise device having a casing for receiving various kinds of weight members, to adjust the exercise device to different weights.
  • 2. Description of the Prior Art
  • Typical exercise devices, such as weight lifting devices, dumbbells, or the like, normally comprise a handle for being grasped or held by the users, and for being used to train their upper muscles groups. However, the typical weight lifting devices or dumbbells may not be attached onto the users, such as the upper portions of the users, to apply weight to the users.
  • For some long distance runners, for example, they may prepare one or more sand bags by themselves, and carry the sand bags onto the upper portions of their bodies, to increase the weight or the burden to their upper portions, and to train or to increase their endurance or physical strength.
  • However, the typical sand bags that are prepared by the users themselves have no handles or hand grips provided thereon, and thus may not be easily carried or grasped or held by the users, and such that may not be easily used for exercising purposes or for muscle training purposes.
  • The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages of the conventional lifting exercise devices.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary objective of the present invention is to provide an exercise device including a casing for receiving various kinds of weight members, to adjust the exercise device to different weights, and thus to fit various users of different strengths.
  • The other objective of the present invention is to provide an exercise device including a base to support the casing on a suitable or predetermined level, and to allow the weight members to be engaged into or removed from the casing.
  • In accordance with one aspect of the invention, there is provided an exercise device comprising a carrier including a casing for attaching onto an upper portion of a user, and a handle provided on the casing, for being grasped by the user, to stably hold the casing on the user.
  • The casing includes a chamber formed therein, and at least one weight member selectively engaged into the chamber of the casing. The casing includes an opening formed therein, and defined between two arms, for receiving a neck portion of a user, and for stably attaching the casing to the user.
  • The weight member includes a notch formed therein, for aligning with the opening of the casing, to stably anchor and retain the weight member within the casing.
  • The casing includes a cover rotatably attached thereto, to selectively opening and enclosing the opening thereof. The casing includes a lock attached to the cover, to selectively lock the cover to the casing.
  • The casing includes at least one spring member attached to the cover, to selectively engage with the weight member, and to stably retain the weight member within the casing.
  • A base may further be provided and includes a support provided thereon, for supporting the carrier thereon. The base includes a post extended therefrom, and the support is disposed on the post.
  • The base includes a jut extended from the post, for selectively supporting a weight member. The support includes at least one catch extended therefrom, for engaging with and for anchoring the casing of the carrier on the support.
  • Further objectives and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a careful reading of the detailed description provided hereinbelow, with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an exercise device in accordance with the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a partial exploded view of the exercise device;
  • FIG. 3 is another partial exploded view of the exercise device; and
  • FIG. 4 is a perspective view illustrating the operation of the exercise device, and illustrating the attachment of the exercise device onto the user.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring to the drawings, and initially to FIGS. 1-3, an exercise device in accordance with the present invention comprises a base 10 including a deck or support 11 disposed or supported or provided thereon with such as a post 18, and having one or more stops or catches 12 extended upwardly from the support 11, for engaging with and for anchoring a carrier 20 on the support 11 or at a predetermined level. The base 10 includes one or more juts 13, such as extended from the post 18, for selectively attaching or hanging one or more weight members 23 thereon.
  • The carrier 20 includes a casing 21 having a chamber 22 formed therein, for selectively receiving one or more of the weight members 23 therein. It is preferable that the weight members 23 include a shape or contour similar or identical to that of the chamber 22 of the casing 21, to allow the weight members 23 to be snugly fitted within the chamber 22 of the casing 21, and to prevent the weight members 23 from being moved laterally relative to the casing 21. However, the weight members 23 may also include various kinds of shape or contour different from that of the chamber 22 of the casing 21, such as stones, sand bags, or other weight members, and may also be received within the chamber 22 of the casing 21.
  • The carrier 20 further includes a cover 24 pivotally or rotatably attached to the casing 21 on one end, and having a latch or lock 25 attached to the other end, for latching or locking the cover 24 to the casing 21 when the cover 24 encloses the casing 21, in order to stably retain the weight members 23 within the casing 21, and to prevent the weight members 23 from being disengaged from the casing 21. It is preferable that the casing 21 includes one or more spring members 26 attached thereto, for engaging with the weight members 23, and for further stably retaining the weight members 23 within the casing 21.
  • The carrier 20 further includes a cavity or opening 27 formed in the casing 21, and defined between two arms 28, for relatively receiving the neck portion of the user, best shown in FIG. 4, and for allowing the carrier 20 to be suitably or stably attached onto the upper portions of the users, in order to apply weight onto the users. It is preferable that the weight members 23 also includes corresponding notches 29 formed therein, for aligning with the opening 27 of the casing 21, and for further stably anchoring and retaining the weight members 23 within the casing 21.
  • The carrier 20 further includes a hand grip or a handle 31 disposed or attached onto the casing 21, such as extended from a protrusion 30 of the cover 24 of the casing 21, and preferably also includes a substantially U-shaped configuration having an opening 32 formed therein 33, and also defined between two arms 33, for being suitably grasped or held by the users, also best shown in FIG. 4.
  • In operation, as shown in FIG. 4, the casing 21 of the carrier 20 may be suitably attached onto the upper portion of the user, in order to apply a predetermined weight onto the user, and the user may grasp the handle 31 to stably carry or retain the casing 21 of the carrier 20 on the upper portion of the user, and the user may then conduct various kinds of exercises, such as running, jogging, bending twisting, or the like.
  • When it is required to change the carrier 20 to different weight, the casing 21 may be disposed and supported on top of the support 11, and anchored or secured to the support 11 with the catches 12. The cover 24 may then be opened relative to the casing 21, to allow the weight members 23 or other weight devices to be engaged into or removed from the casing 21, and thus to allow the carrier 20 to be adjusted to different weights, and thus for allowing either stronger persons or weaker persons to selectively operate the exerciser device.
  • It is to be noted that, as disclosed or as described, the weight members 23 may be directly engaged into the chamber 22 of the casing 21. However, the weight members 23 may also be changed to be slidably engaged into or forced into the chamber 22 of the casing 21 or the like, such that the weight members 23 may also be engaged into the chamber 22 of the casing 21 to change the carrier 20 to different weights.
  • Accordingly, the exercise device in accordance with the present invention includes a casing for receiving various kinds of weight members, to adjust the exercise device to different weights, and thus to fit various users of different strengths, and includes a base to support the casing on a suitable or predetermined level, and to allow the weight members to be engaged into or to be removed from the casing.
  • Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be understood that the present disclosure has been made by way of example only and that numerous changes in the detailed construction and the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
