Abstract

A player is designated as the ‘banker’. The ‘banker’ moves clockwise from player to player as each game is completed. The dealer deals the first card to the player immediately clockwise of the player who is the ‘banker’. The cards are then continued to be dealt one by one in a clockwise fashion until all players have received 2 cards. Each player has the option to keep both cards or to discard at most 1 card. Play again moves clockwise starting with the player immediately clockwise of the player who has been designated as the ‘banker’ for this game. All 2 card hands are then displayed. Each player starts with their highest scoring card and compares it with the ‘banker’ highest score card. Each player then compares their second highest card to the ‘banker’ second highest card. The ‘banker’ wins against a player if both of his/her cards beat the player's cards.

Description

This invention is meant to be played as a live casino table game based on two card poker hand with rankings by card value only and utilizing community cards as replacement cards for cards discarded by the players. Alternatively, the present invention can be played on an electronic video gaming machine programmed to replicate the live casino table game method described herein.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

From a player's perspective. a successful casino wagering game must be easy to understand. mechanically simple to effect. and fun to play. There has been a recent interest in two card poker games because these games can be played quickly and the player strategy is straightforward and much less complicated than the strategy required to play three cards poker and four cards poker games.
This invention further simplifies the two cards poker game and increases the play speed while decreasing the knowledge of game strategy which is required.
This invention does not use typical poker rankings, but rather determines a winning hand based on comparison of the card's face value. Ace is the highest with 2 being the lowest.
It is the object of the invention to produce a two card poker game that is played in a live table game format. Further, it is an object of the present invention to provide a two card poker game that can be played quickly and also easily learned so that play will not be intimidating to even the most novice of players. Alternatively, the present invention can be played on an electronic video gaming machine programmed to replicate the live casino table game method described herein.
It is a feature of the present invention that each player makes a wager and is dealt two initial cards. Each player discards none or one of his initial cards and replacement cards are provided from the deck. Winning hands are determined by the face value of the cards with Ace being the highest rank and the 2 being the lowest.
Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a consideration of the following detailed description.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The method of present invention involves each player making a wager to play two cards poker hand against a player who has been designated as the ‘banker’.
Once all players have made their wagers, an initial hand of two cards is dealt to each player including the ‘banker’. The deal starts with the player immediately clockwise of the ‘banker’ and continues until all players have received an initial hand of two cards.
The player looks at his initial two cards and decides which cards to hold and which cards to discard. Each player has two options. They can keep both cards or discard one card.
After all players, including the ‘banker’ have made their decision as to how many cards they will discard, then the discarded cards are replenished from the deck.
Cards are replenished starting from the player immediately clockwise to the ‘banker’.
Once all cards have been replenished, each player will now once again have a total of two cards.
All the player now flip over their two cards in their possession.
The ‘banker’now compares his two cards against every other player's two cards.
Each player first compares their highest scoring card against the ‘banker’ highest scoring card.
Each player then compares their second highest card against the ‘banker’ second highest card.
Card rankings are as follows: A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 with “Ace” being the highest ranking card and “King” being the second highest card . . . “2” being the lowest ranking card.
For a player to win against the ‘banker’ he must: 1) Win both the highest and second highest card against the ‘banker’. 2) Win the highest card and tie the second highest card against the ‘banker’. 3) Win the second highest card and tie the highest card against the ‘banker’.
For a player to tie against the ‘banker’he must: Tie both the highest card and also the second highest card against the ‘banker’.
It is considered a draw if the ‘banker’ wins one card comparison, but loses the other.
For a player to lose against the ‘banker’ he must: 1) Lose both the highest and second highest card against the ‘banker’. 2) Lose the highest card and tie the second highest card against the ‘banker’. 3) Lose the second highest card and tie the highest card against the ‘banker’.
When all bets are paid, 1) Either to the ‘banker’or from the ‘banker’, the ‘banker’ then rotates to the player immediately clockwise of the current ‘banker’.
The dealer always remains the same person. The dealer is an employee of the house. The dealer can have the option of being the ‘banker’ when the rotation reaches him.
Pay table is: All winning bets will be paid evenly.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The present invention is preferably played as a live casino table game. Alternatively, the present invention can be played on an electronic video gaming machine programmed to replicate the live casino table game method described herein. Any suitable gaming table configuration can be used, such as a conventional Twenty-One table with the gaming table layout modified for use with the method of play of the present invention.
FIG. 1 shows schematically a suitable gaming table layout. This includes the dealer location 1 and also includes a plurality of player locations 2.. Each player location 2 has a wagering spot 5. Adjacent to the dealer location 1. are card locations 3 for the placement of the two cards dealt to each player. The ‘banker’ button location 4 the banker will receive banker button place on their betting area.
A conventional chip rack 6, a discard rack 7, and a deal shoebox 8 are also provided.
At the beginning of each round of play, each player makes a wager to play his two card poker hand. The wager can be any suitable amount from the minimum to the maximum amount allowed by the gaming casino. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, a standard fifty-two card deck of playing cards is used. The dealer shuffles the cards in order to effect a random distribution of the cards throughout the deck.
FIG. 2 shows examples of the three different potential outcomes when comparing the ‘bank's’ hand against a player's hand.
In example A of FIG. 2, the cards in column 1 result in the player's King beating the ‘banker's, Jack. The cards in column 2 result in the player's 9 beating the ‘banker's’ 7. This combination results in the player beating the ‘bank’
In example B of FIG. 2, the cards in column 3 result in the player's 9 losing to the ‘banker's’ 10. The cards in column 4 result in the player's 4 losing to the ‘banker's’ 7. This combination results in the player losing to the ‘banker’
In example C of FIG. 2, the cards in column 5 result in the player's Queen tieing against the ‘banker's’ Queen. The cards in column 6 result in the player's 7 tieing against the ‘banker's’ 7. This combination results in the player tieing against the ‘banker’

Claims

1. A method of playing a casino game using a standard deck of playing cards comprising: (a) the players place their bets on their respective betting areas: (b) the dealing an initial hand consisting of two cards to each player: (c) permitting the player to discard none, or one card from the player's initial hand: (d) all discarded cards are replenished from the deck: (e) all players compare their hands against the banker:(f) Each player starts with their highest scoring card compares it with the banker highest score card: (g) Each player starts with their second highest scoring card compares it with the banker second highest score card: (h) The banker loses to a player if both of his/her cards are beat: (i ) The banker wins against a player if both of his/her cards beat the player's cards: (j ) determining the ranking of the player's final hand against the banker based on each card's face value.

2. A method of playing a casino game as is described in claim 1, wherein the player makes a wager to participate in the method of play and providing the player with an award based on the ranking of the player's final hand as compared against the banker hand.

3. A method of playing a casino game as is described in claim 2, wherein the award is determined by comparing the rankings of each card in the player's hand against the banker (see FIG. 2) and the amount of the player's wager.

4. A method of playing a casino game as is described in claim 3, wherein the rankings is: A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, “2”. with “Ace” being the highest ranking card and “King” being the second highest card . . . “2” being the lowest ranking card.
