Abstract

A laser indicator is secured on a rotating shaft of a sawing machine, on which rotating shaft a saw is fitted; the laser indicator includes a base, a circuit board, a laser module connected to the circuit board, a vibrating switch, an elastic piece, a battery set, a covering member over the base, and threaded element; the elastic piece is secured to the base at one end while the laser module is fitted on the elastic piece; the covering member has a screw hole, and a through hole facing the laser module for allowing a laser beam to pass through; the threaded element is passed through the screw hole of the covering member and pressed against the elastic piece; thus, the orientation of the laser module can be adjusted for the laser beam to head towards the same direction as the saw blade by means of turning the threaded element.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to an adjusting structure of a laser indicator of a sawing machine, more particularly one, which allows position of the laser module to be adjusted such that a laser beam emitted from the laser module will head in a correct direction, i.e. towards the same direction as the saw blade of the sawing machine.
  • 2. Brief Description of the Prior Art
  • Cutting machines and sawing machines are usually equipped with a laser indicator, which emits a laser beam for marking the portion of a work piece to be cut/sawed such that a cutting/sawing process can be carried out accurately.
  • A conventional laser indicator is fitted on a rotating shaft of a sawing machine, on which a saw is secured. The laser indicator will emit a laser beam heading towards the same direction of the blade of the saw; thus, it is ensured that the saw blade will cut that portion of a work piece that is marked by the laser beam after the rotating shaft starts rotating. In other words, a sawing process can be carried out accurately owing to the laser indicator.
  • However, the above-mentioned laser indicator has a disadvantage: a laser module of the above-mentioned laser indicator is fixed on a circuit board by means of solder welding therefore the orientation of the laser module can't be adjusted for changing direction of the laser beam even if the laser beam fails to head towards the same direction as the saw blade. Consequently, the whole laser indicator becomes useless, and has to be discarded, resulting in significant undesirable increase in the manufacturing cost.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is a main object of the invention to provide an improvement on an adjusting structure of a laser indicator of a sawing machine to overcome the above-mentioned problems. The laser indicator is securely fitted on a rotating shaft of a sawing machine, on which rotating shaft a saw is fitted. The laser indicator includes a base, a circuit board secured on the base, a laser module connected to the circuit board, a vibrating switch, an elastic piece, a battery set, a covering member positioned over the base, and threaded element. The elastic piece is secured to the base at one end while the laser module is fitted on the elastic piece. The covering member has a screw hole, and a through hole facing the laser module for allowing a laser beam emitted from the laser module to pass through. The threaded element is passed through the screw hole of the covering member and pressed against the elastic piece; thus, the orientation of the laser module can be adjusted for the laser beam to head towards exactly the same direction as the saw blade by means of turning the threaded element.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • FIGS. 1 to 7 show a first preferred embodiment of a laser indicator 1 in the present invention, which is securely fitted on a rotating shaft 21 of a sawing machine 2, and includes a base 11, a circuit board 12, a laser module 13, a vibrating switch 14, a manual switch 15, a covering member 16, a battery set 17, and an elastic piece 19. The sawing machine 2 further has a saw secured on the rotating shaft 21.
  • The circuit board 12 is secured on the base 11. The laser module 13 is connected to the circuit board 11 while both the vibrating switch 14 and the manual switch 15 are fitted on the circuit board 12. The covering member 16 is positioned over the base 11, and it consists of a front covering part 161, and a rear covering part 162. The front and the rear covering parts 161 and 162 have several fasteners 163, and fastening holes 164 thereon, and they are coupled together with the fasteners 163 being fitted in the fastening holes 164. The battery set 17 are secured to an inner side of the rear covering part 162, and they have connecting legs 171, which touch the circuit board 12 such that the battery set 17, the laser module 13, the vibrating switch 14, and the manual switch 15 together comprise a circuit. The front covering part 161 has a through hole 165 on a circumferential side thereof, which faces the laser module 13 for a laser beam emitted from the laser module 13 to pass through. Furthermore, the front covering part 161 has a through hole 166 facing the manual switch 15.
  • The laser module 13 is securely fitted on the elastic piece 19, and the elastic piece 19 is secured to the base 11 at one end, and the other end of the elastic piece 19 is free. The front covering part 161 of the covering member 16 has a screw hole 167, and a threaded element 18 is passed through the screw hole 167 and pressed against the elastic piece 19; the position of the laser module 13 can be adjusted by means of turning the threaded element 18 for changing the position of the threaded element 18 in relation to the screw hole 167.
  • Referring to FIGS. 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10, when the rotating shaft 21 of the sawing machine 2 is rotating, the laser indicator 1 secured on the rotating shaft 21 will also rotate, and the vibrating switch 14 will vibrate to be in the “on” position so as to close the circuit comprising the battery set 17, the laser module 13, the vibrating switch 14, and the manual switch 15. Consequently, the laser module 13 is powered, and emits a laser beam 3 through the through hole 165 of the covering member 16, which laser beam 3 is supposed to head towards exactly the same direction as the blade of the saw of the sawing machine 2. Therefore, when the laser beam travels onto a work piece, it will mark a portion of the work piece to be cut with the saw, thus allowing the sawing process to be carried out accurately.
  • If the laser module 13 fails to emit a laser beam 3 towards exactly the same direction as the blade of the saw of the sawing machine 2, the user should turn the threaded element 18 for making the threaded element 18 pressed against the elastic piece 19 in a new position so as to adjust the orientation of the laser module 13 as well as the direction of the laser beam 3. Then, without turning on the sawing machine 2, the user should turn on the laser module 13 by means of using the manual switch 15, and check whether the laser beam 3 emitted from the laser module 13 heads towards exactly the same direction as the blade of the saw of the sawing machine 2.
  • The user is allowed to replace the battery set 17 with a new one after he separates the rear covering part 162 from the base 11 and the front covering part 161; after battery change, the rear covering part 162 is coupled to the front covering part 161 again by means of fitting the fasteners 163 in the fastening holes 164. In other words, there is no need for removal of the whole covering member 16; if the whole covering member 16 were removed for allowing battery change to be carried out, the user would have to fit the covering member 16 back to the base 11 carefully such that the through holes 165 and 166 could face the laser module 13 and the manual switch 15 again respectively.
  • From the above description, it can be seen that the present invention has the following advantages:
  • 1. The laser module of the laser indicator is fitted on the elastic piece with both a fixed end and a free end, and the threaded element is pressed against the elastic piece so that the position of the laser module can be adjusted by means of changing the position of the threaded element in relation to the screw hole; if the laser module fails to emit a laser beam heading towards exactly the same direction as the blade of the saw, the orientation of the laser module can be adjusted for the laser beam to head towards the correct direction by means of turning the threaded element.
  • 2. When the battery set run out of energy, the user is allowed to change battery while the front covering part of the covering member is still in its closing position. In other words, battery change can be carried out after the rear covering part is separated from the base and the front covering part; after battery change, the rear covering part is coupled to the front covering part again by means of fitting the fasteners into the fastening holes. Therefore, the laser indicator of the present invention is convenient to use.

Claims (3)

1. An adjusting structure of a laser indicator of a sawing machine,
a laser indicator being securely fitted on a rotating shaft of a sawing machine, on which rotating shaft a saw is fitted;
the laser indicator comprising:
a base;
a circuit board secured on the base;
a laser module connected to the circuit board;
an elastic piece, the elastic piece being secured to the base at one end thereof; the laser module being fitted on the elastic piece;
a vibrating switch fitted on the circuit board;
a battery set, the battery set touching the circuit board such that the battery set, the laser module, and the vibrating switch together comprise a circuit;
a covering member positioned over the base, the covering member having a first through hole facing the laser module for allowing a laser beam emitted from the laser module to pass through; the covering member having a screw hole thereon; and
a threaded element, the threaded element being passed through the screw hole of the covering member and pressed against the elastic piece for changing position of the laser module.
2. The adjusting structure of a laser indicator of a sawing machine as recited in claim 1 further having a manual switch fitted on the circuit board; the covering member having a second through hole facing the manual switch.
3. The adjusting structure of a laser indicator of a sawing machine as recited in claim 1, wherein the covering member includes front and rear covering parts; the front and the rear covering parts having a plurality of fasteners and fastening holes thereon; the front and the rear covering parts being coupled together with the fasteners being fitted in the fastening holes thereof.
