Abstract

An exerciser includes a rotatable disk rotatably connected on the frame of the exercisers and two first links are pivotably connected between an upright post on the frame and two second links which are pivotably connected to two third links. A sliding assembly has two guide members and each guide member has a groove, and two respective distal ends of the two third links are slidably engaged with the grooves. Two pedals are connected to the two third links and a board is connected to the two pedals by connection members 44. The user stands on the board and operates the board to overcome the resistance from the rotatable disk.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to an exerciser with a elliptical transmission device which allows the user to simulate different types of exercisers.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • A conventional elliptical exerciser is shown in FIG. 9 and generally includes a base 50, a transmission device 51, two handles 53, two links 54 and two slide rods 56. The transmission device 51 is connected to the base 50 and includes two disks 52, and the two handles 53 are connected to a top of the base 50. The two links 54 are pivotably connected to two respective lower ends of the handles 53 and the other ends of the tow links 54 are pivotably connected to the slide rods 56 via the links 55. Two pedals 57 are connected to the slide rods 56 which are pivotably connected to the disks 52. Two distal ends of the slide rods 56 are slidably engaged with two grooves in two guide members 58. The user holds the two handles 53 and stands on the two pedals 57 so move the slide rods 56 along the grooves in the guide members 58. The slide rods 56 are moved in an oval trace such that the user's feet are exercised alternatively along two respective oval traces. However, the conventional elliptical exerciser can only provide elliptical exercise for the two feet without any weight exercise and the mode for operating the elliptical exerciser cannot be changed.
  • The present invention intends to provide a multiple-function exerciser that combine the two pedals as a large board so that the user can simulate different types of exercisers such as windsurfing and snowboarding.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to an exerciser that comprises a base and a frame connected on the base. The frame includes an upright post. A transmission device is connected to the frame on the base and has a rotatable disk. A link assembly has two first links which have two respective first ends pivotably connected to the upright post and two respective second ends of the first links are pivotably connected to two respective first ends of two second links. A sliding assembly has two guide members and each guide member has a groove. Two respective second ends of the two second links are pivotably connected to two middle portions of two third links. Two respectively first ends of the third links are pivotably connected to the rotatable disk and two respective second ends of the third links are movably engaged with the grooves. Two pedals are connected to the two third links and a board is connected to the two pedals by connection members.
  • The primary object of the present invention is to provide a multiple-function exerciser that includes a big board cooperated with two links connected with a rotatable disk so that the user can simulate different types of exercisers.
  • The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

  • FIG. 8B shows the exerciser of the present invention with a board connected to the two pedals, and
  • FIG. 9 shows a conventional elliptical exerciser.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, the exerciser of the present invention comprises a base 10 and a frame 11 is connected on the base 10. The frame 11 includes a curved upright post 12 and two handles 13 are connected to the curved upright post 12. A transmission device 20 is connected to the frame 11 on the base 10 and has a rotatable disk 16 which can be a magnetic-resistance wheel or any known disk that produces resistance. A link assembly 30 has two first links 31 which has two respective first ends pivotably connected to the upright post 12 and two respective second ends of the first links 31 pivotably connected to two respective first ends of two second links 32.
  • A sliding assembly 40 has two guide members and each guide member has a groove 17. Two respective second ends 32 of the two second links 32 are pivotably connected to two middle portions of two third links 41. Two respectively first ends of the third links 41 are pivotably connected to the rotatable disk 16 and two respective second ends of the third links 41 movably engaged with the grooves 17. Two pedals 42 are connected to the two third links 41 and a board 43 is removably connected to the two pedals 42 by connection members 44. The user can stand on the board 43 and tries to keep balance and pushes or pulls the board 43 to simulate different types of exercises such as snowboarding or windsurfing. Because the two pedals 42 are actually moved alternatively up and down so that the user needs to twist his or her body to keep the balance and this creates a lot of fun. The connection members 44 can be connected on two ends of the bottom of the board 43 as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, or the connection members 44 are located at a front end of the bottom of the board 43 as shown in FIG. 5.
  • As shown in FIG. 2, the transmission device 20 has a resistance unit 21 received therein which has a first wheel 211 which has a first shaft 15 supported on two L-shaped trusses 14. A second wheel 212 has a second shaft 23 supported on two plates on the frame 11 and a belt 22 is connected to the first and second wheels 211, 212. An initial wheel 27 is rotated about the second shaft 23 and a break device 28 is connected to the initial wheel 27. A plate 24 has a middle portion pivotably connected to the second shaft 23 and a tension roller 25 is connected to an end of the plate 24. The other end of the plate 24 is connected to another tension spring 26 which presses the tension roller 25 onto the belt 22. The break device 28 includes a break shoe 281 which has one end pivotably connected to the frame 11 and the other end of the break shoe 281 is connected with a tension spring 282 so that when pulling the spring by a cable by the user, the break shoe 281 is in contact with the initial wheel 27 to break it.
  • FIGS. 6A and 6B show that the board 45 can be a T-shaped board and is connected between the two pedals 42.
  • FIGS. 7A and 7B show another embodiment of the exerciser which comprises a base 10 and a frame 11 connected on the base 10. The frame 11 includes a curved upright post 12 and two handles are connected to the curved upright post 12. A transmission device 20 is connected to the frame 11 on the base 10 and has a rotatable disk 16. A link assembly 30 has two first links 31 which has two respective first ends pivotably connected to the upright post 12. A sliding assembly 40 has two second links 41 and two respective second ends of the first links 31 are pivotably connected to two respective first ends of two second links 41. Two respective second ends of the two second links 41 are pivotably connected to the rotatable disk 16 of the transmission device 20. Two pedals 42 are connected to the two second links 41 and a board 43 is connected to the two pedals 42 by connection members 44. The two pedals 42 and the board 43 are located between the upright rod 12 and the transmission device 20.
  • FIGS. 8A and 8B show yet another embodiment of the exerciser wherein the transmission device 20 and the link assembly 30 are received in a casing and the two pedals 42 on the two third links 43 extend out from the casing. The board 43 is connected to the two pedals 42.
  • While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims (7)

1. An exerciser comprising:
a base and a frame connected on the base, the frame including an upright post;
a transmission device connected to the frame on the base and having a rotatable disk;
a link assembly having two first links which has two respective first ends pivotably connected to the upright post and two respective second ends of the first links pivotably connected to two respective first ends of two second links;
a sliding assembly having two guide members and each guide member has a groove, two respective second ends of the two second links pivotably connected to two middle portions of two third links, two respectively first ends of the third links pivotably connected to the rotatable disk and two respective second ends of the third links movably engaged with the grooves, and
two pedals connected to the two third links and a board connected to the two pedals by connection members.
2. The exerciser as claimed in claim 1, wherein two handles are connected to the upright rod.
3. The exerciser as claimed in claim 1, wherein the board is connected between the two pedals.
4. The exerciser as claimed in claim 1, wherein the transmission device has a first wheel which has a first shaft supported on two L-shaped trusses, a second wheel has a second shaft supported on two plates on the frame, a belt connected to the first and second wheels, an initial wheel is rotated about the second shaft and a break device is connected to the initial wheel.
5. The exerciser as claimed in claim 4, wherein the break device includes a break shoe which has one end pivotably connected to the frame and the other end of the break shoe is connected with a tension spring.
6. The exerciser as claimed in claim 1, wherein a plate has a middle portion pivotably connected to the second shaft and a tension roller is connected to an end of the plate, the tension roller presses on the belt, the other end of the plate is connected to another tension spring which presses the tension roller onto the belt.
7. An exerciser comprising:
a base and a frame connected on the base, the frame including an upright post;
a transmission device connected to the frame on the base and having a rotatable disk;
a link assembly having two first links which has two respective first ends pivotably connected to the upright post;
a sliding assembly having two second links and two respective second ends of the first links pivotably connected to two respective first ends of two second links, two respective second ends of the two second links pivotably connected to the rotatable disk of the transmission device, and
two pedals connected to the two second links and a board connected to the two pedals by connection members, the two pedals and the board located between the upright rod and the transmission device.
