Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a shield device for an exhaust pipe, and more especially to an improvement of the structure of the shield device for the exhaust pipe that integrates the shield device and the exhaust pipe together firmly, making the shield device less prone to shaking; thereby noise is reduced, life-span is protracted, assembling is easy, and the overall appearance of the device is more attractive.
- 2. Description of the prior art
- An exhaust pipe used on a motorcycle leads exhaust gas out from an engine to a silencer, and then outside of the device. The surface temperature of the exhaust pipe is increased after a period of time although the obstruction of the pipe wall because the temperature of the gas exhausted from the engine may be as high as a several hundred degrees Celsius. As such, it is easy for a user's leg to be burnt accidentally as they dismount from the motorcycle. Furthermore, the exhaust pipe is oxidized for/by the high temperature, which makes a layer of black oxide form on the surface of the exhaust pipe; thus, the appearance of the exhaust pipe is spoiled.
- At present, these problems may be solved by a shield device for an exhaust pipe on motorcycles, as shown in
FIG. 1 , an invertedU-shaped metal piece 81 having ascrew hole 811 is attached onto anexhaust pipe 9, then ashield board 8 is locked onto the invertedU-shaped metal piece 81 by ascrew 7. - But, the process of fixing the
shield board 8 onto the invertedU-shaped metal piece 81 by thescrew 7 is difficult, and the appearance of the shield device for the exhaust pipe is spoiled because thescrew 7 extends outward from theshield board 8. Moreover, theshield board 8 is attached by thescrew 7 which means thescrew 7 must bear the weight of theshield board 8. However, over time and due to the bumps, theshield board 8 will be loosen and begin to shake relative to theexhaust pipe 9 and generate rattling noises. Thereby, the life-span of theshield board 8 is shortened. - Hence, the inventor of the present invention believes that these shortcomings above are able to be improved upon and finally suggest the present invention.
- An object of the present invention is to provide a shield device for an exhaust pipe, the shield device is easily assembled, its appearance beautiful, and the integration of the shield device and the exhaust pipe is stable. The shield device is less prone to shaking, noise is reduced, and the device's life-span is protracted.
- To achieve the above-mentioned object, the shield device for an exhaust pipe in accordance with the present invention is disclosed. The shield device has at least one socket defining a connecting portion extended crookedly downwards from two ends thereof, the socket is attached onto the exhaust pipe by the connecting portion; a shield board defines a shield piece and at least one plug, a fastening portion extends backwards from the shield piece, the plug is welded on the inside wall of the shield piece, and at least one fastening device is set on the fastening portion of the shield piece, the shield board is attached onto the exhaust pipe by inserting the plug into the socket and fixing the fastening device onto the exhaust pipe.
- To further understand features and technical contents of the present invention please refer to the following detailed description and drawings related the present invention. However, the drawings are only to be used as references and explanations, not to limit the present invention.
-
FIG. 1 is an exploded isometric view of an exhaust pipe of the prior art; -
FIG. 2 is an exploded isometric view of a shield device for an exhaust pipe of the present invention; -
FIG. 3 is an isometric view of a shield device for an exhaust pipe of the present invention; -
FIG. 4 is an assembled isometric view of a shield device for an exhaust pipe of the present invention; -
FIG. 5 is a cutaway view of a shield device for an exhaust pipe of the present invention; -
FIG. 6 is an exploded isometric view of a shield device for an exhaust pipe of another embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 7 is an exploded isometric view of a shield device for an exhaust pipe of a third embodiment of the present invention. - Referring to
FIGS. 2 to 5 , a shield device for an exhaust pipe of the present invention is shown. The shield device for an exhaust pipe includes asocket 1, ashield board 2, and at least onefastening device 3. Thesocket 1 is shaped by punching a piece of metal, thesocket 1 defines asupport portion 11 on the center thereof, and a connectingportion 12 extends crookedly downwards from two ends thereof. - The
shield board 2 defines ashield piece 21 and at least oneplug 22. At least onefastening portion 211 extends backwards from theshield piece 21. At least oneplug 22 is welded onto the inside wall of theshield piece 21. Aplug portion 221 extends crookedly onwards from theplug 22. - The
fastening device 3 defines a C-shaped loop 31 and afastening piece 32. The C-shaped loop 31 has twofree ends 311. Thefastening piece 32 passes through thefree ends 311 of the C-shaped loop 31. Thefastening piece 32 includes a screw and a screw cap. - The
socket 1 is attached onto theexhaust pipe 4 by the connectingportion 12 that is welded onto theexhaust pipe 4. Theplug portion 221 of theplug 22 is inserted into thesupport portion 11 of thesocket 1 to attach theshield board 2. The C-shaped loop 31 of thefastening device 3 surrounds thefastening portion 211 of theshield piece 21. Twofree ends 311 of the C-shaped loop 31 are attached onto theexhaust pipe 4 by tightening thefastening piece 32. - Referring to
