Abstract
A speaker holder includes a base with a blocking portion, a restraining plate, and two flanges extending form a same side of the base. The restraining plate is separated from the blocking portion. The restraining plate has an inward restraining tab at an end of the restraining plate remote from the base. The blocking portion, the restraining plate, and the two flanges cooperatively form a receiving space for receiving and restraining the speaker on the base. The speaker can be directly inserted into the receiving space and more easily and firmly fixed therein utilizing the restraining tap of the restraining plate. Therefore, time spent to assemble the speaker is less than the conventional method.
Description
- The present invention relates to a speaker holder, and more particularly, to a speaker holder which easily and firmly secures a speaker to an enclosure.
- Conventionally, a speaker is fixed to a housing of an electronic device, such as a computer, a projector, and the like, via a number of screws. However, the assembly of the screws is manually finished. Manually mounting and tightening the screws to the housing is time-consuming and inefficient.
- It is desired to provide a speaker holder which can overcome the above-described deficiency.
- In accordance with the present invention, a holder for securing a speaker includes a base with a blocking portion, a restraining plate, and two flanges extending from a same side of the base. The restraining plate is separated from the blocking portion. The restraining plate has an inward restraining tab defined at an end of the restraining plate remote from the base. The blocking portion, the restraining plate, and the two flanges cooperatively form a receiving space for receiving and restraining the speaker on the base.
- Other novel features and advantages will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
- The present invention is described in detail hereinafter, by way of example and description of preferred and exemplary embodiments thereof and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric view of a speaker holder in accordance with the present embodiment; and -
FIG. 2 is similar toFIG. 1 , but further comprising a speaker held in the speaker holder. - A detailed explanation of a speaker holder according to an embodiment of the present invention will now be made with reference to the drawings attached hereto.
- Referring to
FIGS. 1-2 , a speaker holder in accordance with the exemplary embodiment is shown. The speaker holder includes abase 10, ablocking portion 11 extending from thebase 10, arestraining plate 12 extending from thebase 10 and separate from theblocking portion 11, and twoflanges - It should be noted that a
speaker 20, as shown inFIG. 2 , is presented only as an example to explain configurations and working principles of the speaker holder. Thespeaker 20 includes apanel 21 and abody 22 connected to thepanel 21. In the present embodiment, thepanel 21 is a rectangular plate, and thebody 22 is a cylinder. - The
base 10 can be a portion of an enclosure, such as a computer enclosure, a projector enclosure, and the like. Understandably, thebase 10 can be an independent element connected to the enclosure before installation of thespeaker 20 to the speaker holder, by any conventional method, such as screwing, welding, and the like. - The blocking
portion 11 is nearer one side of thebase 10 and configured for blocking thepanel 21 of thespeaker 20. As shown inFIG. 2 , theblocking portion 11 includes two separated plates extending perpendicularly and separately from thebase 10 so as to bare a portion of thepanel 21 of thespeaker 20. - The
restraining plate 12 may be a resilient plate configured for restraining thebody 22 of thespeaker 20 in cooperation with the blockingportion 11. Therestraining plate 12 is nearer an opposite side of thebase 10 and includes amain body 121 perpendicularly extending from thebase 10, and aninward restraining tab 122 defined at a top end of therestraining plate 12. A distance between the blockingportion 11 and therestraining plate 121 is substantially equal to a length of thespeaker 20 along an axis of thespeaker 20 so as to tightly restrain thespeaker 20 in the y-direction along the axis of thespeaker 20. Therestraining tab 122 is configured for abutting thebody 22 of thespeaker 21. A distance between therestraining tab 122 and thebase 10 is substantially equal to a diameter of thebody 22 of thespeaker 20 so that therestraining tab 122 and thebase 10 sandwich thebody 22 therebetween in the x-direction perpendicular to the y-direction. Therefore, thespeaker 20 is fixed in the x, y-directions by cooperation of the blockingportion 11, therestraining plate 12, and therestraining tab 122 of therestraining plate 12. - In the present embodiment, in order to improve the strength of the
restraining plate 12, a reinforcingplate 123 can be disposed on a backside of therestraining plate 12, for added strength in restraining thespeaker 20 in the y-direction in cooperation with the blockingportion 11. - The
flanges base 10. A distance between theflanges panel 21 or the diameter of thebody 22. In the present embodiment, the distance between theflanges panel 21 so as to tightly restrain thepanel 21 in the z-direction perpendicular to the x, y-directions. It can be appreciated that theflanges portion 11, for improving the strength of the blockingportion 11 and theflanges - As described above, the
flanges portion 11, and therestraining plate 12 together form areceiving space 15 for engagingly receiving and restraining thespeaker 20 on thebase 10. For assembling of thespeaker 20 to the holder, as shown inFIG. 2 , thespeaker 20 is pressed downwardly until it is received in thereceiving space 15. Thespeaker 20 is thus embraced by the blockingportion 11, therestraining plate 12, the twoflanges restraining tap 121 of therestraining plate 12. - As a result, the
speaker 20 can be directly inserted into thereceiving space 15 and firmly fixed therein utilizing the speaker holder. Therefore, the time spent to assemble the speaker is less than the conventional method. - It should be understood that the above-described embodiment is intended to illustrate rather than limit the invention. Variations may be made to the embodiments without departing from the spirit of the invention. Accordingly, it is appropriate that the appended claims be construed broadly and in a manner consistent with the scope of the invention.
