Abstract
A thin eyeglasses case for accommodating an eyeglass assembly. The eyeglass assembly has a body and two temple bars pivotally connected to the body. Two lenses are mounted on the body. The thin eyeglasses case includes a first housing and a second housing. The first housing has a first engaging structure. One side of the second housing is pivotally connected to the first housing to form an accommodating portion for accommodating the body of the eyeglass assembly together with the first housing, while two side openings through which the temple bars are exposed are formed. The other side of the second housing has a second engaging structure, which may engage with or disengage from the first engaging structure.
Description
- This application claims priority of No. 097102770 filed in Taiwan R.O.C. on Jan. 25, 2008 under 35 USC 119, the entire content of which is hereby incorporated by reference.
- 1. Field of Invention
- The invention relates to a thin eyeglasses case, and more particularly to a thin eyeglasses case capable of protecting lenses of an eyeglass assembly while exposing temple bars of the eyeglass assembly.
- 2. Related Art
- In order to protect an eyeglass assembly, a conventional eyeglasses case is designed to cover lenses and temple bars of the eyeglass assembly. Thus, the size of the eyeglasses case has to be sufficient large in order to accommodate the slightly arced eyeglass assembly. In this case, many redundant spaces exist in the eyeglasses case, and a relatively large space of a pocket or a knapsack has to be provided to accommodate the eyeglasses case. More particularly, when the user carries the eyeglasses case in his/her pocket, he or she may feel that his/her pocket projects outwards and the glory is thus influenced.
- Consequently, it is an important subject of the invention to provide a thin and multi-functional eyeglasses case.
- It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a thin and multi-functional eyeglasses case for protecting an eyeglass assembly and accommodating other objects.
- To achieve the above-identified object, the invention provides a thin eyeglasses case for accommodating an eyeglass assembly having a body and two temple bars pivotally connected to the body, wherein two lenses are mounted on the body. The thin eyeglasses case includes a first housing and a second housing. The first housing has a first engaging structure. One side of the second housing is pivotally connected to the first housing to form an accommodating portion for accommodating the body of the eyeglass assembly together with the first housing, while two side openings through which the temple bars are exposed are formed. The other side of the second housing has a second engaging structure, which may engage with or disengage from the first engaging structure.
- The second housing may have a flat object accommodating slot for accommodating a flat object. The second housing may also have a cylinder accommodating slot for accommodating a cylinder.
- The second housing may have two positioning portions for respectively positioning the two temple bars. Each positioning portion may be a slot. Alternatively, each positioning portion may be a slot defined by two projections.
- The second housing may also have a locking portion for locking free ends of the temple bars.
- The thin eyeglasses case according to the invention may protect the eyeglass assembly and accommodate objects at the same time. The eyeglass assembly can be easily protected without wasting the too large space. Therefore, the eyeglasses case of the invention can easily protect the eyeglass assembly, and the eyeglasses case may be hung on the user through one of the temple bars so that the user can carry the eyeglasses case in a diversified manner.
- Further scope of the applicability of the present invention will become apparent from the detailed description given hereinafter. However, it should be understood that the detailed description and specific examples, while indicating preferred embodiments of the invention, are given by way of illustration only, since various changes and modifications within the spirit and scope of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from this detailed description.
- The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given hereinbelow and the accompanying drawings which are given by way of illustration only, and thus are not limitative of the present invention.

FIG. 1 is a pictorial view showing a thin eyeglasses case in an opened state according to a first embodiment of the invention. -
FIG. 2 is a pictorial view showing the thin eyeglasses case in a closed state according to the first embodiment of the invention. -
FIG. 3 is a pictorial view showing a thin eyeglasses case in a closed state according to a second embodiment of the invention. -
FIG. 4 is a front view showing a thin eyeglasses case in a closed state according to a third embodiment of the invention. -
FIG. 5 is a partial cross-sectional view taken along a line 5-5 ofFIG. 4 . -
FIG. 6 is a partial cross-sectional view taken along a line 6-6 ofFIG. 4 . - The present invention will be apparent from the following detailed description, which proceeds with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein the same references relate to the same elements.

FIG. 1 is a pictorial view showing athin eyeglasses case 10 in an opened state according to a first embodiment of the invention.FIG. 2 is a pictorial view showing thethin eyeglasses case 10 in a closed state according to the first embodiment of the invention. As shown inFIGS. 1 and 2 , thethin eyeglasses case 10 according to this embodiment is for accommodating aneyeglass assembly 30 having abody 32 and twotemple bars 34 pivotally connected to thebody 32. Twolenses 36 are mounted on thebody 32. Thethin eyeglasses case 10 includes afirst housing 11 and asecond housing 13. - The
first housing 11 has a firstengaging structure 12. - One
side 13A of thesecond housing 13 is pivotally connected to thefirst housing 11 to form anaccommodating portion 15 for accommodating thebody 32 of theeyeglass assembly 30 together with thefirst housing 11, while twoside openings 16, through which thetemple bars 34 are exposed are formed. Theother side 13B of thesecond housing 13 has a secondengaging structure 14, which may engage with or disengage from the firstengaging structure 12. It is to be noted that the firstengaging structure 12 may also be engaged with a belt worn on the user in addition to engaging with the secondengaging structure 14 so that the user can carry the eyeglasses case at his/her waist. -
FIG. 3 is a pictorial view showing a thin eyeglasses case in a closed state according to a second embodiment of the invention. As shown inFIG.3 , thesecond housing 13 has a flat object accommodatingslot 18 for accommodating a flat object, such as a business card, a credit card, an ATM card or the like. In addition, thesecond housing 13 may also have a cylinder accommodatingslot 19 for accommodating a cylinder, such as a pencil, a ball pen, a laser pointer or the like. It is to be noted that the flat object accommodatingslot 18 or the cylinder accommodatingslot 19 may exist independently without influencing the main function of the eyeglasses case. In this embodiment, the flat object accommodatingslot 18 and thecylinder accommodating slot 19 are formed on an engaging surface between the secondengaging structure 14 and the firstengaging structure 12. -
FIG. 4 is a front view showing a thin eyeglasses case in a closed state according to a third embodiment of the invention.FIG. 5 is a partial cross-sectional view taken along a line 5-5 ofFIG. 4 . As shown inFIGS. 4 and 5 , thesecond housing 13 has two positioningportions 17 for respectively positioning the twotemple bars 34. In this embodiment, eachpositioning portion 17 is a slot, which may penetrate through thesecond housing 13 or may be formed on thesecond housing 13. As shown inFIG. 5 , eachpositioning portion 17 is a slot defined by twoprojections projections temple bars 34, respectively. -
FIG. 6 is a partial cross-sectional view taken along a line 6-6 ofFIG. 4 . As shown inFIG. 6 , thesecond housing 13 may have alocking portion 20 for lockingfree ends 34F of thetemple bars 34 in order to fix thetemple bars 34 onto thesecond housing 13. Thelocking portion 20 may be an elastic locking portion for elastically locking thefree ends 34F. Thelocking portion 20 has an elasticpressing end 20A, which may elastically press thefree ends 34F of thetemple bars 34. - In summary, the thin eyeglasses case according to the invention may protect the eyeglass assembly and accommodating objects at the same time. The eyeglass assembly can be easily protected without wasting the too large space. Therefore, the eyeglasses case of the invention can easily protect the eyeglass assembly, and the eyeglasses case may be hung on the user through one of the temple bars so that the user can carry the eyeglasses case in a diversified manner.
- While the invention has been described by way of examples and in terms of preferred embodiments, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited thereto. To the contrary, it is intended to cover various modifications. Therefore, the scope of the appended claims should be accorded the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications.
Claims (9)
1. A thin eyeglasses case for accommodating an eyeglass assembly, the eyeglass assembly having a body and two temple bars pivotally connected to the body, two lenses being mounted on the body, the thin eyeglasses case comprising:
a first housing having a first engaging structure; and
a second housing, wherein one side of the second housing is pivotally connected to the first housing to form an accommodating portion for accommodating the body of the eyeglass assembly together with the first housing, while two side openings through which the temple bars are exposed are formed, and the other side of the second housing has a second engaging structure, which may engage with or disengage from the first engaging structure.
2. The thin eyeglasses case according to claim 1 , wherein the second housing has a flat object accommodating slot for accommodating a flat object.
3. The thin eyeglasses case according to claim 1 , wherein the second housing has a cylinder accommodating slot for accommodating a cylinder.
4. The thin eyeglasses case according to claim 3 , wherein the second housing further has a flat object accommodating slot for accommodating a flat object.
5. The thin eyeglasses case according to claim 1 , wherein the second housing has two positioning portions for respectively positioning the two temple bars.
6. The thin eyeglasses case according to claim 5 , wherein each of the positioning portions is a slot.
7. The thin eyeglasses case according to claim 5 , wherein each of the positioning portions is a slot defined by two projections.
8. The thin eyeglasses case according to claim 1 , wherein the second housing has a locking portion for engaging with free ends of the temple bars.
9. The thin eyeglasses case according to claim 8 , wherein the locking portion has an elastic pressing end capable of elastically pressing the free ends of the temple bars.
