Abstract
Description
- 1. Technical Field
- The present disclosure relates to enclosures and, more particularly, to an enclosure with a vent.
- 2. Description of Related Art
- An electronic device, such as a server or a computer, usually defines a plurality of vent holes in a sidewall of the electronic device for heat dissipation. However, the dimensions of the venting holes are fixed and cannot be adjusted to change the volume of airflow once the sidewall has been manufactured.
- Many aspects of the present embodiments can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present embodiments. Moreover, in the drawings, all the views are schematic, and like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
-
FIG. 1 is an assembled, isometric view of an embodiment of an enclosure, the enclosure includes a venting apparatus. -
FIG. 2 is an exploded, isometric view ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of the venting apparatus ofFIG. 2 , but viewed from another perspective. -
FIG. 4 is an exploded, isometric view of the venting apparatus ofFIG. 3 , the venting apparatus includes a fastener. -
FIG. 5 is an enlarged view of the fastener ofFIG. 4 . - The disclosure, including the accompanying drawings, is illustrated by way of examples and not by way of limitation. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same embodiment, and such references mean at least one.
- Referring to
FIG. 1 andFIG. 2 , an exemplary embodiment of an enclosure includes amain body 10 and aventing apparatus 20 attached to themain body 10. - The
main body 10 includes asidewall 12 defining anopening 122. - Referring to
FIG. 3 , theventing apparatus 20 is fixed to thesidewall 12 for covering the opening. Theventing apparatus 20 includes afirst body 21, asecond body 22 pivotably fixed to thefirst body 21, and a fastener. Thefirst body 21 and thesecond body 22 are both circular-plate-shaped. Thefirst body 21 defines a plurality offirst vents 215. Thesecond body 22 defines a plurality ofsecond vents 223. The diameter of thefirst body 21 is greater than the diameter of thesecond body 22. Thefirst body 21 further defines a throughhole 211 in a center of thefirst body 21 and twolocking holes 213 around the throughhole 211. In this embodiment, thelocking holes 213 are same asfirst vents 215. A plurality offixing portions 212 is set on a side of thefirst body 21, for fixing thefirst body 21 to thesidewall 12 to cover the opening. Thefixing portions 212 may utilise magnets or adhesive. In an alternative embodiment, thefirst body 21 may define a plurality of fixing holes to fix thefirst body 21 to thesidewall 12 by screws. A plurality ofsigns 214 is marked on the side of an outer surface of thefirst body 21, facing thesecond body 22. - The
second body 22 further defines a throughhole 221 in a center of thesecond body 22. Twoopposite handles 222 extend in from a side of an outer surface of thesecond body 22, opposite to thefirst body 21. Anarrowhead 224 is marked on the side of the outer surface thesecond body 22. - The
venting apparatus 20 further includes afastener 23, awasher 24, aresilient member 25, and anut 26. In one embodiment, theresilient member 25 is a coil spring. Thefastener 23 is a flat-headed bolt. - Referring to
FIG. 5 , thefastener 23 includes apole 231, ahead 232 formed on a first end of thepole 231, and a threadedportion 234 formed on a second end of thepole 231. A plurality of anti-twist tabs or other protuberances (tabs 233) extend from the underside of thehead 232 and are parallel to thepole 231. - Referring to
FIG. 3 andFIG. 4 , in assembly, thepole 231 extends through the throughholes tabs 233 are inserted in thelocking holes 213 of thefirst body 21 to prevent thefastener 23 from twisting or revolving in relation to thefirst body 21. Thewasher 24 and theresilient member 25 are positioned on thepole 231 in that order, thereby the washer 24 distributes pressure and provides a bearing surface against the outer surface of thesecond body 22. Thenut 26 is screwed to the threadedportion 234. Therefore thesecond body 22 is pivotably connected to thefirst body 21. - In use, the
handles 222 are operated to rotate thesecond body 22 relative to thefirst body 21 to misalign thesecond vents 223 of thesecond body 22 relative to thefirst vents 215 of thefirst body 21. The first andsecond vents second vents - The
nuts 26 compresses theresilient member 25 to keep thesecond body 22 in firm contact with thefirst body 21, thus thesecond body 22 may be positioned in any position relative to thefirst body 21. Thearrowhead 224 can indicate the degree of overlap between the first andsecond vents - It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the embodiments have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the present disclosure to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
