A user may also exercise by standing next to the exercise device and by pulling on the exercise bands. A user may additionally exercise by standing on an upper support portion of the exercise device and pulling on the exercise bands with his hands.
Description
- This application claims the benefit under 35 U.S.C. §119(e) of U.S. Provisional Application No. 61/687,469 filed Apr. 25, 2012 which is herein incorporated by reference.
- This invention is related generally to the field of exercise devices. This invention is related more particularly to methods and systems for exercising the core muscles on a device which utilizes exercise bands on which a user may stand, or be supported on the exercising device while “working-out” on the device.
- Historically, and particularly in modern times, humans have had an interest in exercising for reasons including to increase health, feelings of well-being and to become better fit. Originally, humans exercised primarily by performing exercises manually, by everyday activities, or by exercising without the aid of an exercise device. However, over time, it was realized that the use of an exercise device would facilitate the efficient exercising of selected muscle groups by exercising these selected muscle groups on the exercise device. The prior art is replete with examples of exercise devices to facilitate the exercise of selected muscle groups. These exercise devices may often be complex, but the complexity of these devices may not lead to efficient exercising of selected muscle groups. What is needed is a simple, efficient exercise machine which targets the muscles of the core while also exercising the main muscle groups.
- From the above, it is apparent that a deficiency exists in the prior art for a simple efficient exercise device which targets the muscles of the core while working out the entire body and simultaneously keeping simplicity of design in mind. Therefore, there is a need in the art for an exercise device which targets specific core muscles while working out the entire body and simultaneously maintaining simplicity in design.
- To satisfy this need in the art, an exercise device has been developed comprising a front straight panel, a front angled panel, an upper support portion, a left side support, a right side support, a back portion, and left and right exercise bands connected to the exercise device.
- The exercise device is capable of allowing a user to be partially supported by his feet on an angled surface on the device, to stand adjacent to the device, or to stand on top of the device. These pluralities of user positions, in combination with the exercise bands, which the user may hold in his left hand, his right hand, or both hands provides for exercising the core muscles as well as all major muscle groups.
- These and other advantages of the invention will be further understood and appreciated by those skilled in the art by reference to the following written specification, claims and appended drawings.
- The invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
-
FIG. 1 illustrates a perspective view of an exercise device in which a user is capable of performing various exercises. -
FIG. 2 illustrates a detail view of a front lower portion of the exercise device. -
FIG. 3A illustrates a perspective view of a user of the exercise device using the device while partially supported by the device in accordance with the inventive concept. -
FIG. 3B illustrates another perspective view of a user of the exercise device using the device while partially supported by the device in accordance with the inventive concept. -
FIG. 4 is a perspective view of a user of the exercise device using the device while standing next to the device, in accordance with the inventive concept. -
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a user of the exercise device using the device while standing on the device, in accordance with the inventive concept. - The following description is merely exemplary in nature and is not intended to limit the present disclosure, application, or uses. Specific details such as detailed configurations and components are merely provided to assist the overall understanding of exemplary embodiments. It should be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications of the exemplary embodiments described herein can be made without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention. In addition, descriptions of well-known functions and construction are omitted for clarity and conciseness.
-
FIG. 1 illustrates a perspective view of theexercise device 10 in accordance with the inventive concept. Theexercise device 10 may be made of wood, plastic, or metal, but is not limited to these materials. As illustrated inFIG. 1 , theexercise device 10 consists of a frontstraight panel 12 and frontangled panel 14 in accordance with an inventive concept. In some embodiments the frontangled panel 14 may be used without the frontstraight panel 12 as a combined front side panel. The frontstraight panel 12 functions as an anchoring point (FIG. 2 ) for exercise bands attached to theexercise device 10. The frontangled portion 14 functions as a support point for a user of theexercise device 10. Theexercise device 10 further comprises a leftside lifting support 16 and a rightside lifting support 18. Theexercise device 10 additionally comprises a back side support 20 (FIG. 4 ). Theback support 20 may or may not extend all the way to the ground. Theexercise device 10 additionally includes anupper support portion 19. Each of theleft side support 16 and theright support 18, comprise, respectfully, a left sidesupport lifting orifice 22 and a right sidesupport lifting orifice 24. The left sidesupport lifting orifice 22 and right sidesupport lifting orifice 24 allow theexercise device 10 to be lifted and moved to different locations and is also for performing some exercises. Theexercise device 10 may be covered by afriction material 26 which facilitates support of a user's feet to theexercise device 10. Theexercise device 10 additionally comprises aleft exercise band 32 and aright exercise band 34. Theleft exercise band 32 is connected to theexercise device 10 through aleft recess attachment 42 and theright exercise band 34 is connected to theexercise device 10 through aright recess attachment 44. As illustrated onFIG. 2 , theleft recess attachment 42 includes a leftvertical pin 49 on which aleft spring clip 52 is attached to one end of theleft exercise band 32. This is just one embodiment of the invention. Other types of clips and other types of attachments are within the scope of the invention. Although not illustrated onFIG. 2 , similarly, theright recess attachment 44 includes a right vertical pin 48 on which aright spring clip 54 is attached to one end of theright exercise band 34. Attached to theright exercise band 34 is aright handle 58. Attached to theleft exercise band 32 is aleft handle 56. Theleft handle 56 and theright handle 58 in combination with theexercise device 10 allow a series of exercises to be performed as will be described below. - As illustrated on
FIGS. 3A and 3B , in one of a plurality of exercise uses of theexercise device 10, in a first mode of use, a user may perform exercises by being partially supported on his feet by the frontangled panel 14 and his hands, and/or theleft exercise band 32 or theright exercise band 34. The user exercises by pulling on one or bothexercise bands - As illustrated on
FIG. 4 , in another of a plurality of exercise uses of theexercise device 10, in a second mode of use, a user may perform exercises by standing adjacent theexercise device 14 and utilizing one, or both of theleft exercise band 32 or theright exercise band 34, and possibly in combination with partial support of the user with the frontangled panel 14 in order to exercise additional muscle groups. - As illustrated on
FIG. 5 , in yet another of a plurality of exercise uses of theexercise device 10, in a third mode of use, a user may perform exercises by standing on theexercise device 14 and utilizing one, or both of theleft exercise band 32 or theright exercise band 34, in order to exercise various muscle groups. By these three different modes of using the exercise device, the user is able to exercise many different muscle groups by utilizing this simple device. - While the preferred embodiments of the invention have been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications can be made in the invention and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications which may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
