  • BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • The present invention is in the field of hand gun holsters. Most specifically, a holster that can be mounted to any flat surface and is portable. The most common method to have a hand gun within reach is to place the hand gun in a holster that is attached to a belt or piece of clothing on your person, or to have it placed loosely on the floor, desk, table or nightstand. There are times when you need to have the hand gun within reach but cannot or do not want to have it on your person and want it held in place in the proper position.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF INVENTION
  • The Surface Mount Holster is designed to hold a hand gun in the proper position, in which to have the hand gun within reach of the user in a location other than on a belt or piece of clothing on your person, or to have it placed loosely on the floor, table or nightstand. The Surface Mount Holster is mounted to any flat surface by an adhesive strip. The Surface Mount Holster consists of a body which has a flat mounting base and a cavity in which a foam insert is placed to firmly hold the hand gun. The hand gun is placed within the Surface Mount holster by sliding the hand gun into the foam insert of the Surface Mount Holster. By having the hand gun mounted in the proper position in the Surface Mount Holster, resolves the issue of having the hand gun within reach of the user, without the need to have the hand gun in a holster attached to a belt or piece of clothing or a hand gun placed loosely on the floor, desk, table, or nightstand. The Surface Mount Holster will accommodate the most semi automatic handguns and revolvers. The Surface Mount Holster also incorporates a pocket on the side in which to hold a spare magazine for the semi automatic hand gun.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION AND BEST MODE OF IMPLEMENTATION
  • The Surface Mount Holster body is made from a plastic composite material. It is formed in an Injection mold tool by means of the Injection Molding process. The foam insert is die-cut and sewn to conform to the interior dimensions of the Surface Mount Body. The foam insert is held in place by Chicago screws. The disclosed elements and features of the Surface Mount Holster function in such a manner as to enable the user to have the ability to mount the Surface Mount Holster in many different locations. The Surface Mount Holster utilizes an adhesive strip for mounting, and can be removed without damaging the surface in which it is mounted. The Surface Mount Holster can be easily removed and easily relocated by use of a new adhesive strip. This allows the user to place the hand gun within reach, in the proper position in many different locations that has not been found in prior art. Other methods required the use of screws to mount a plate that has a fabric or leather strap attached. Others use a plastic or metal plate which is wedged between a mattress and box spring. Those methods restrict the number of locations, cause damage to walls or furniture by utilizing screws, or necessitate utilizing a mattress and box spring to wedge the plate. The Surface Mount Holster construction of a plastic composite material provides a strong and secure placement of a hand gun when not attached to a belt or clothing. The foam insert of the Surface Mount Holster provides surface tension between it and a hand gun. The Surface Mount Holster offers multiple opportunities for mounting locations for the various requirements of the user. The Surface Mount Holster will accommodate most semi automatic hand guns and revolvers. The pocket for the spare magazine will accommodate magazines for most semi automatic hand guns.
  • Assemble the Surface Mount Holster by inserting the foam insert FIG. 4 Element 6, into the body of the Surface Mount Holster FIG. 4 Element 1.
  • Install the Chicago screws and inserts, FIG. 4 Elements 2, 3, 4,5,7,8 into the holes in the Surface Mount Body FIG. 4 Element 1 and into and through the foam insert FIG. 4 Elements 6 and tighten.
  • To mount the Surface Mount Holster, locate a flat surface. Clean the mounting base of the Surface Mount Holster, FIG. 2, Element 1, and the flat surface, FIG. 9, Element 4, with Isopropyl Alcohol. Let both areas dry. Take the adhesive strip that is included, in your hand and orientate so the rounded portion is at the bottom. Remove the paper cover on the adhesive strip and position the exposed adhesive strip on the Surface Mount Holster by centering on the mounting base, 2″ below the top of the Surface Mount Holster. The rounded portion of the adhesive strip will extend 9/16″ below the bottom of the Surface Mount Holster Base. Apply hand pressure to the adhesive strip to insure adhesion of the adhesive strip to the mounting surface of the Surface Mount Holster. Remove the remaining paper cover on the adhesive strip to expose the adhesive strip. Secure the Surface Mount Holster to the proper mounting surface by placing the Surface Mount Holster in the desired location and apply hand pressure to the back side of the Surface Mount Holster. The Surface Mount Holster is now mounted.
  • To place a Hand gun in the Surface Mount Holster take a hand gun and place it within the foam insert in the Surface Mount Holster.
  • To remove the Surface Mount Holster from the mounting surface, remove the hand gun from the Surface Mount Holster. Locate the round tab at the bottom of the adhesive strip that secures the Surface Mount Holster to the mounting surface. While holding the Surface Mount Holster by each side, grasp the round tab of the adhesive strip and pull straight down. Continue stretching the adhesive strip tab in a downward direction 8″-15″until the adhesive strip releases the Surface Mount Holster from the mounting location. The Surface Mount Holster is now removed from the mounting surface. The Surface Mount Holster can now be relocated to another location.
