Description
- This application claims priority to provisional patent application U.S. Ser. No. 62/107,859 filed on Jan. 26, 2015, the entire contents of which is herein incorporated by reference.
- The embodiments herein relate generally to pillows.
- Prior to embodiments of the disclosed invention, pillows were designed to fit a certain individual's needs. Pillows with increased universality were sought but not found. Some other endeavors in this field include U.S. Patent Application 2014/0196214 filed by Dupre; U.S. Pat. No. 7,874,033 issued to Palmer, and U.S. Patent Application 2005/0210590 filed by DiGirolamo. Dupre, DiGirolamo and Palmer teach a pillow with chambers arranged into columns, but they do not reach a plurality of rows. Embodiments of the disclosed invention solve this problem.
- A sleeping pillow is configured to provide various support configurations. The sleeping pillow includes a top panel attached to a central panel. A bottom panel is attached to the central panel. A divider assembly is attached to the central panel, the top panel and the bottom panel creating a first chamber, a second chamber, a third chamber, a fourth chamber, a fifth chamber and a sixth chamber. Padding is inserted into each of the first chamber, the second chamber, the third chamber, the fourth chamber, the fifth chamber and the sixth chamber to provide support for a head and a neck of a human user.
- In some embodiments, the central panel can further comprise a first side, a second side, a third side and a fourth side. The divider assembly can further comprise a horizontal panel attached to a first vertical panel, a second vertical panel, a third vertical panel, and a fourth vertical panel.
- In some embodiments, the first chamber can exist between the third side, the horizontal panel, the first vertical panel, the top panel, the first side and the second side. The second chamber can exist between the first vertical panel, the horizontal panel, the second vertical panel, the top panel, the first side and the second side. The third chamber can exist between the fourth side, the horizontal panel, the second vertical panel, the top panel, the first side and the second side. The fourth chamber can exist between the third side, the horizontal panel, the first vertical panel, the bottom panel, the first side and the second side. The fifth chamber can exist between the first vertical panel, the horizontal panel, the second vertical panel, the bottom panel, the first side and the second side. The sixth chamber can exist between the fourth side, the horizontal panel, the second vertical panel, the bottom panel, the first side and the second side.
- In some embodiments, a first covering can be inserted into the first chamber; wherein the first covering further comprises a first padding. A second covering can be inserted into the second chamber; wherein the second covering further comprises a second padding. A third covering can be inserted into the third chamber; wherein the third covering further comprises a third padding. A fourth covering can be inserted into the fourth chamber; wherein the fourth covering further comprises a fourth padding. A fifth covering can be inserted into the fifth chamber; wherein the fifth covering further comprises a fifth padding. A sixth covering can be inserted into the sixth chamber; wherein the sixth covering further comprises a sixth padding.
- In some embodiments shredded memory foam can be used as the first padding and the fourth padding to accommodate a user desiring neck support. In some embodiments, the fourth padding, the fifth padding and the sixth padding can be shredded memory foam to accommodate a user desiring base support. In some embodiments, the third padding, the fifth padding and the sixth padding are shredded memory foam to accommodate a user desiring elevation support.
- The detailed description of some embodiments of the invention is made below with reference to the accompanying figures, wherein like numerals represent corresponding parts of the figures.
