Description
Fb. E9 E936. A. F. WAGONER @933,393
TABLE TOP EXTENSION CLAMP Filed July 6, 1955 Inventor Patented F eb. 18, 1936 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
The present invention relates generally to the art of clamps and has for its prime object to provide means whereby a panel may be disposed between two table tops as an extension thereof.
Another important object of the invention resides in the provision of clamping means which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, adjustable, easy to manipulate, thoroughly eicient and reliable in use and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described. and claimed.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary perspective view showing the panel supported between a pair of spaced tables.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary front elevation of the structure shown in Figure l looking at one end of the panel.
Figure 3 is a section on line 3 3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a section on line 4 4 of Figure 3.
y Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the purpose of my invention is to provide a table top panel 5 mounted between table top panels 6 6 of conventional tables T T. In order to accomplish this result I utilize clamp structures, and one of the structures will now lbe described in detail.
Each clamp structure includes plates 8 8 formed with inwardly and laterally directed arm extensions 9 9 having bolt and slot connections with respect to each other, one of the arms having a slot I0 and the other of the arms having bolts Il mounted therein and extending through the slot with suitable wing nuts I2 so thatthe plates 8 may be adjusted toward or away from each other as may be required. The upper edges of the plates 8 are provided with Wings I5 and I6 disposed in opposite directions and being co-planar to extend over the upper surfaces of the panels 5 and 6 as shown to advantage in Figures 1 and 2.
From the plates 8 there extend Shanks I'I, two for each plate, and extending in opposite directions and disposed in offset relationship and the ends of these Shanks have internally threaded sleeves I8 into which are threadedly mounted bolts I9 the upper ends of which are provided with swivel feet 20 under the extensions I5 and I6.
I have disclosed two tables mounted in end to end spaced relationship and it is desired to place the table top panel 5 therebetween. Therefore, two of my clamping devices are utilized. Each device is disposed between adjacent panels 5 and 6 shown in Figure 1 with the wings or extensions I5 or I6 over the top thereof and the feet 20 thereunder held tightly in place by means of the bolts I9. It is thought that the construction, manipulation, utility and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent Without a more detailed description thereof.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
In combination, a pair of tables including top panels, a top panel to be disposed in co-planar relationship with top panels of the tables, means whereby the second mentioned panel may be supported in cio-planar relationship with the other panel, said means comprising a pair of clamps, each clamp comprising a plate having end members with oppositely disposed extensions to be placed over the panel, oppositely disposed brackets under the panels, and bolts engaged in the brackets to engage under the panels.
