In the drawing, I have shown the display device, as used in connection with a bag of flour or similar article, but it is to be understood that it may be used in connection with various other commodities, without departing from the scope of the invention.

When the display device is used for displaying articles or products made from flour as shown, for example, in Figure 1, a pad of recipes, generally indicated by the numeral [5, may be fastened on the device, as shown in Figure 1, which is so constructed that the recipes may readily be torn from the pad, one at a time, by anyone who may be interested.

The device, as hereinbefore stated, is very simple and inexpensive in construction and may readily be manufactured in quantity production at a very low cost. The particular arrangement of the tabs 5 and ti and the means provided at the ends thereof, for securing the device to the article, is such that the device may readily and quickly be attached to the article or bag I, as shown in Figure 2, with the body 2 of the device supported in an upright, conspicuous position upon the article, whereby it presents a very neat and attractive appearance which is extremely pleasing to the eye.

I claim as my invention:

1. An advertising display device comprising a normally flat body of sheet material having a surface for displaying advertising matter, said body having a depending portion provided with oppositely projecting tabs adapted to be bent aroimd the body of an article on display, said tabs having slits extending inwardly from the ends thereof and terminating at their inner ends in concave seats, and an elastic band having its looped ends seated in said concave seats and connecting together the ends of the tabs, thereby to secure the device to the article in a conspicuous position, said slits permitting the looped ends of the elastic band to be inserted into said seats.

2. An advertising display device comprising a normally flat body having a surface for displaying advertising matter, said body having a central depending portion provided with oppositely projecting tabs or tongues having apertures therein adjacent their outer ends, said tabs also having slits extending from the portion of said apertures nearest to the side edges of the tabs, thereby to provide a seat in each aperture, and said slits being open at their outer ends whereby the looped end of an elastic band may be passed therethrough into said seats, and whereby said elastic band will cooperate with said tabs to secure the device in an upright position on the body of an article on display.

An advertising display device comprising a flat body of sheet material having a surface for displaying advertising matter, said body having a depending portion provided with oppositely projecting tabs or tongues having apertures therein adjacent their outer ends, and said tabs having slits therein extending from the portions of said apertures nearest to the outer edges of the tabs, thereby to provide a concave seat in each aperture, and whereby the central portions of the ends of the tabs may be bent outwardly to permit a securing element to be threaded through said slits into said concave seats, thereby to hold the tabs in embracing engagement with the body of an article to retain the device in position on the article.

tainer or bag, an advertising display device comprising a fiat body adapted to be positioned against one side of the bag, said body having a depending portion fitting against the lower portion of the bag body and provided with oppositely projecting tabs or tongues adapted to embrace the bag body, said tabs having spaced apertures adjacent their outer ends, and slits extending from said apertures to the ends of the tabs, said slits being connected to the portions of said apertures adjacent the outer edges of the tabs, whereby a portion of each aperture is nearer the end of its respective tab, than the point of connection of the slit therewith, and an endless elastic band having its looped ends inserted through said slits into said apertures and cooperating with said tabs to secure the device to the bag in an upright position.

5. An advertising display device comprising a normally fiat body of sheet material having a surface for displaying advertising matter, said body having slits extending inwardly from the opposite sides thereof, and terminating at their inner ends in suitable apertures offset from their respective slits in a direction towards one another to provide concaved seats, said slits being so arranged that the looped ends of an elastic band may be passed therethrough into said seats to secure the band to said body, and whereby the elastic band may detachably support the device in proper position upon an article.

6. An advertising display device comprising a normally fiat body of sheet material having a surface for displaying advertising matter, said body having a pair of spaced apertures therein adjacent each of its side edges, and each aperture having one end of a slit connected thereto at the point thereof most remote from its complemental aperture, and whereby said apertures provide inwardly facing concaved seats at the inner ends of said slits adapted to receive the looped ends of an elastic band which band may be fitted around an article to support the device in position thereon.

7. In a device of the class described, a body portion of sheet material having a surface for displaying advertising matter, said body having a pair of spaced apertures therein adjacent a side edge thereof, and, each aperture having one end of a slit connected thereto at the point thereof most remote from the other aperture, whereby inwardly facing concaved seats are provided at the inner ends of said slits, and an elastic band having one end suitably connected to said body portion and adapted to be passed around the body of an article and have its opposite end detachably received in said concaved seats, thereby to support the device in position on the article.
