3 Claims. (Cl. 2-224) This invention relates to improvements in garpanel, while right and left front side gores are ments, and more particularly to means for preillustratedv respectively by numerals II and l2, venting a form fitting garment from creeping, and right and left rear gores are indicated recrawling, or'wrinkling. spectively by numerals i3 and I4. When certain 5 Objects of this invention are rto provide a pertypes of materials are used a reinforcing mem- 5 sonal wear garment, which is cut to conform to ber I5 may be provided. The upper end of the the contours of the body and eliminates the poscentral panel I0 constitutes a front panel I6, sibility of creeping, and the gathering of excess having its longitudinal marginal edges cut in a quantities of material at certain parts of the concave configuration, as illustrated at I9 and 10 body. 2G, while the lower end of the panel l0 constil0 Another object is to provide a garment adapted tutes a rear panel l'l, having its longitudinal to fit around the lower part of the trunk of a marginal edges cut in a convex configuration, body, the same being constructed and designed illustrated at 22 and 23. Centrally the panel le in such a manner that it will not creep, wrinkle, constitutes a crotch portion I8, recessed at 2l or permit an excess of material to gather at the and Zia. l5 lower portion of the buttocks in the region of the Right and left rear gores I3 and I4 are cut in bifurcation. convex congurations, as yillustrated respectively Another object is to provide a garment of the at 24 and 25, While their upper marginal edges type described which can be Worn either as an are Cut in concave COngulatiOns, as illustrated 2O under garment or as an outer garment, and will at 26 and 2l' respectively. The use 50 or children and may be manufactured ofany of the reinforcing panel I5 is optional and may suitable materials. be conveniently used when the garment is made In the drawing, the blanks -from which the of light materials, of the type likely to creep or garment is made, are illustrated in Figs. l and 2, wrinkle in response to body movements. A garwherein the numeral I0 illustrates a central ment incorporating my invention when designed 55 for female use may include straps 4l and 42, suitably secured to the front panel I6 and rear panel il respectively as by stitching, the straps being adapted to hold certain sanitary appliances.
The garment herein illustrated because of its particular shape, configuration and design is adapted to closely t and conform to the shape and contour of a human body in the vicinity of the crotch and gluteo-inguinal areas, and thus provides a comfortable personal wear garment. The desirability of having such garments remain in shape in such types of garments as bathing suits, panties, girdles, corsets and. the like in spite of strenuous physical body and limb movements, is obvious. I have discovered that by reinforcing such garment by a series of stitches at the proper place, creeping, crawling or wrinkling of the edge portions of such garment in the regions below the buttocks are prevented.
Accordingly, as shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 5, at 38 and 39 two series of U-shaped rows of stitches of thread of any desired type, are disposed in such a manner that they extend rearwardly and upwardly from the central lower rear margin of the garment and cover and reinforce the areas of the garment covering the cheek or high point of the buttocks or the areas immediately therebelow. When certain heavy weight materials are used such stitching may cover two separate areas in groups with an unstitched area portion positioned in the crotch portion of the garment as illustrated, whereas, in some instances wherein lighter materials are used the stitched area may extend continuously from one buttock area to the other through the crotch portion. If desired, the stitching may also extend along the front portion of the garment for certain uses, as shown at lli?. The completed garment is indicated by the numeral 43.
The stitching thus disposed has been found to retain the garment in a comfortable unwrinkled position by seating or retaining the rear lower portion of the garment on the buttocks or gluteoinguinal areas. This construction presents an additional advantage of preventing the garment from pulling away from or creeping in the crotch area due to stress and pulling strains in a direction from the crotch towards the buttocks; this feature being important when it is used in exposed garments, such as bathing trunks, dancing trunks and the like. The stitching herein disclosed adds very little cost to the manufacturing of the garment and provides the advantages above enumerated in a comfortable, attractive form fitting garment.
The invention, herein disclosed, may be used in mens garments, by altering the front of the garment in an obvious manner or in the manner illustrated in my co-pending application Serial No. 374,538, and such modifications are within the contemplated scope of my invention.
t will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the garment herein disclosed may be variously changed, used or modified, without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing the advantages thereof, and that the embodiment of my invention herein shown is illustrative only, and that my invention is not limited thereto.
I claim:
