Description

H. EVERHSOLE. j
Invalid-Waiter.
No 221,800. Patented Nov. 18, 1879.
Iii/"- Iii/l UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFIGE.
HENRY O. EVERSOLE, OF DAYTON, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN INVALID-WAITERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 221,800, dated November 18, 1879; application filed July 31, 1879.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY G. EVERSOLE, of Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented a new and use ful Improvementin Invalid-Waiters, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to an adjustable bracket'wit'h suitable clamps for attachment to bedscrewed thereon rests against the clamp.
The clamps D are of the form shown in Fig. I; an inner projection sustains the rod 5 the curved end of frame terminates in a broad disk; and the angular end supports a long screw, which terminates in a similarly broad disk. This clamp is so placed as to embrace a bedpost, and by turning the screws itis firmly fastened thereunto.
E represents a supporting-disk, having a circular slot therein, and is sustained on the rod, upon which it freely moves, by the setscrew L.
The arm K is provided with a socket, and rests on the supporting-disk.
The screw 0 occupies the circular slot and enters the arm, and when brought up against the supporting-disk the arm is held in a fixed position. To the outer end of this arm is a loop, which embraces the arm I, this arm being provided with a similar loop on the inner end to embrace the under arm. Thus arranged the upper arm slides freely on the under one, and the salver is thereby extended when. desirable.
To the outer end of the upper arm is attached the socketG in vertical position, and this supports the rod F. The upper end of this rod terminates in a broad disk, and on this disk, by means of screws, is attached the salver B. The rod turns freely within the socket. It
rests on a shoulder above, and to the lower 1 end is attached a nut, H, by which it is held in a fixed position, when desirable.
The salver has a wooden bottom with a thin metallic border, but may be constructed of different form and material. The adjustment as to altitude is effected by moving the supporting-disk up or down the rod. The extension is effected by moving to and fro the upper arm, the lateral position by the swinging of the arms on the supporting-disk, and the salver is rotated at pleasure on the socket. Viands, drinks, or medicines are placed on the salver, and that adjustment is made of the waiter which shall be convenient for the invalid.
Having fully described my invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent is- As an improved article of manufacture, the combination of the clamps D, rod N, supporting-disk E, sliding arm I, swinging arm K, socket G, and salver B on pivotal rod F, subst'antially as set fortln HENRY O. EVERSOLE.
