UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAOOB PFIFFNER AND JOHN KRIEBS, OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
FLY-N ET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 233,798, dated October 26, 1880.
Application filed August 21, 1880.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, JACOB PFIFFNER and JOHN KRIEBS, of the city of Dubuque, in the county of Dnbuque and State of Iowa, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Fly-Nets; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings,
making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation of a plan view of this invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional detail. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the slotted stop and lashes.
This invention has relation to leather flynets for horses; and it consists in afly-net having its transverse bars secured from lateral play by means ofindentations on its longitudinal bars, as hereinafter shown and described.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter a, designates the bars of our fiy-net, and b the lashes thereof. These are formed of cut leather, which is colored in vats, of various bright hues to suit different tastes. The coloring-matter gives the leather a solidity which is advantageous in fastening the lashes in their holes (Model) 0 in the bars. This is accomplished, after the lashes have been passed through these holes, by indentingor punching the leather of the bar on the outer wall of the hole, asindicated at d, to prevent displacement of the same.
As a further means of keeping the lashes in place, short leather stops, 6, may be used between the bars (1., these stops being perforated edgewise and each receiving two adjacent lashes, holding them together about half-way between each two bars, as shown in the drawin gs.
Having described this invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
Aleather fly-net having its transverse straps secured from lateral play by means of indentations on its longitudinal bars, as shown at d, substantially as specified.
In testimony that we claim the above we have hereunto subscribed our names in the presence of two witnesses.
