1 Claim.

I This invention relates to mailing cards and more particularly to a .mailing card which is adaptable for several mailings.

` It is a general object of our invention to provide a multiple. mailing card which'can be sent to an addressee and which can be folded by the addressee and returned to the original sender with an enclosure, and wherein a portion of the card can be detachedand remailed to the original addressee, the detached card serving as a receipt and the like.

Another object of the invention is to provide novel means for folding and refolding the device and providing portions thereof with the addresses of` the sender and the addressee so that in such folding and refolding either of the addresses can be visibly displayed and the writing of addresses by the addressee rendered unnecessary.

A more specific object of the invention is to provide a device which can be economically made froma single blank of paper and which when Vfolded into its various forms can be conveniently secured together so that it will have much the appearance of the ordinary envelope.

These and other objects and advantages of the invention will more fully appear from the following description made in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein like reference characters refer to the same parts throughout the views, and, in which:

In the drawings there is shown a card A which is provided with a series of transverse fold lines I6, I'l and I8, which divide the card A into a series of panels I9, 2U, 2| and 22. The panel I9 is folded upon the panel 20 along the scored line I6 and said panel I9 has gummed portions 23 which permit it to be secured adhesively to said panel 20, thus forming a pocket. Panel 2| is adapted to be folded at the line I1 downwardly against either side of the pocket formed by panels I 9 and 20. Panel 22 is adapted to be folded along the line 8 downwardly against either side of the panel 2|, Panel 22 adjacent the score line I8 is provided with a gummed strip 24, and on the side of the panel 22 having the gummed portion is an address panel 25 which is adapted to carry the address of the addressee and which is also adapted to register with a window 26 in the panel 2l when said panel 22 is folded downwardly thereagainst. The opposite side of the panel 22 is provided with an address space 2l which is adapted to receive the name of the original sender and when panel 22 is folded down' against the other side of the panel 2| the address of the sender is visible through the Windowu 26. In Figs. 3 and l the device is shown folded for its original mailing. The panels I9 and 20 have previously been folded together and secured to form the pocket described above, and the panels 2| and 22 have been folded together with the faces shown in Fig. l against each other. The panels 2| and 22 are then folded as a unit on the score line I'l to bring the panel 22 between the pocket formed by panels 20 and 23 and the window panel 2|. A small sticker 28 is then placed to connect the edges of panels 2| and 20 which lie at the score lines I8 and I6, and the name and address of the original addressee are visible through the Window 26. Y

A device of this kind can be used, for example, by insurance companies, the company mailing out the card when folded as in Fig. 3 and one or more of the panels constituting a notice of the amount of premium used.` The pockets formed by I9 and 20 can be` used by the receiver of the notice to hold his remittance and then the device can be refolded to be returned to the company. When this is done the panel 22 is folded oppositely from the original folding thereof to bring the senders return address lspace 21 in registry with thewindow 26 to be viewed therethrough, and panels 2| and 22 as a unit are folded forwardly as viewed inFig. 2 and downwardly over the panel 20 of the pocket. The strip of adhesive 24 on the panel 22 is then moistened and secured to the lower edge of panel 20. a window 33 and a cut-out notch 34 in an edge thereof. Panel 29 is folded up against the panel 3|] and secured thereto by strips of adhesive 35. The panel 3| is provided with a pair of adhesive strips 3S and the panel 32 is provided with an addressee name space 37.

As viewed in Fig. 8 the device is folded as it should be for the original mailing to the addressee. The panel 32 has previously been folded backwardly againstV the panel 3l as viewed in Fig. 7. At the edges where the panels 3l and 32 are ,joined the panels are fed into the pocket formed by panels129 and 3e, and when they have been fully inserted into this pocket the'addressee indicia at 3l will appear visible in the window 32. shown in Fig. 14. Panel 42 and tongue 43 may be connected by placing the postage stamp 41 over the' adjoiningl portions of the panel and tongue `or the stamp may be placed in its usual position and a seal used to connect these two members 42 and 43. Then when the article has l been returned to the original sender it can be and through the cut-out notch 34 as :best indicated in Fig. 8.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that we have provided a multiple use stationery device which can be folded in various ways to present different addresses to View and Wherein the devi-ce can bev used as a means of transmitting statements andrreturnin'g remittances. An additional use of the device is as a return receipt which constitutes a severable portion of the main blank. Thus the device isone which is capable of use for three different mailings.

Our invention is one which can be cheaply constructed from a single blank of sheet material and when folded for Vmailing lis very similar to a conventional envelope both in size and shape.

A device of this type is of advantage in connection with the mailing of statements, return of remittances, and final mailing ofrecepits since the entire record of various transactionsis retained on the singlel blank, and when the return receipt has been severed and mailed to the original addressee the remainder of the blank remains in the hands of the original sender as a record of the. entire transaction. This saves considerable time in looking up i-lles land other records as the various portions of the transaction are taken care of. i
