CLOTH-FACED MOLDINGS.
SPECIFICATION forming' part of Letters Patent N0. 240,916, dated May 3, 1881.
Application filed February 23, 1881. (No model.)

a strip or cleat inserted in said groove, and a acingoi cloth or other suitable material applied to said strip and extending between the same and back piece, substantially as herein-` after more fully described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a face view ot' my improved molding; and Fig. 2, a transverse section of same, illustrating more fully its construction. i

A denotesa back piece, of wood or other suitable material, provided at its front with a longitudinal groove, a., in which is inserted a cleat or strip, B.
G represents a facing', of cloth, lea-ther, or
other pliable and suitable material, applied to the cleat B and extending over the edges thereof, so as to enter with it the groove a. and become coniined between the cleat and sides of the groove. rlhus, by properly fitting the cleat in the groove, the facing can be secured on the molding simply by impact of said parts.
The edges ot' the back piece may be ornay lnented to harmonize withthe facing of the cleat B.
