The present invention relates=..to.animproved: type of adjustable jack strap for lifting and lowering the hedd-le-frames'of-the shedding mechanisms=of-.looms or the like, where a more OlflG'SS delicate adjustment is desired.
In the accompanying drawingz.
1 isza perspective view ofrone endfiofithe jack strap, with the strap shown ina' ross-zsection;
Fig. 2:is-==a detached perspectivevivworithe clamp parts; and
Fig. 3 is a detached plan view of the strap.
The jack strap I is provided at one of its ends at least, with a loop 2 which is connected to and is coupled between the heddle frame and the jack lever which operates the heddle frame. The one end of the strap I is folded upon itself, as at 3, to provide a plurality of layers Ia and lb adjacent the body portion I of the strap. The body portion, beyond the loop 2, is longitudinally slotted at 4 to provide for said adjustment.
A pair of identical clamp plates 5, 5 are reversed with respect to each other and placed on the body I and fold 3 with a clamp bolt 6 passing through holes I, 1 in the plates 5, 5, through similar aligned holes I4, I4 (Fig. 4) in the plies Ia and lb of the fold 3 and through the slot 4 in the body I of the strap, with the head 8 of said bolt bearing on one of the plates 5, a washer 9 on the other of the plates 5, and a butterfly nut I screwed on the threads of the bolt 6 and adapted, when tightened, to clamp the folded end 3 of the strap tightly against the body I of the strap, while providing for delicate adjustment therebetween merely by loosening the nut I0 and sliding the folded end relative to the body I to increase or decrease the size of the loop 2.
The plates 5, are provided at one end or side with a single centrally located right-angle ear I I and along the opposite end or side with a pair of laterally-spaced right-angle ears I2, I2 between which the body I and folded end 3 of the strap lie to keep the longitudinal side edges of the layers l a, I b of the folded end 3 and the corresponding edges of the body I of the strap in alignment and parallel.
I claim:
1. A jack strap and clamp for looms, comprising a flat strap folded to form a loop and superposed layers adjacent said loop at one end with an elongated slot in said strap and aligned bolt holes in said layers, a pair of flat clamp plates including opposed fiat surfaces extending uninterruptedly from side to side thereof in opposed 23 a1. clamp, bolt passing through. aligned apertures, in rsaid plates andisaidlayers: and saidislot. and. adapted=toclampsaidstrap and-said layers tightly between I said surfaces: in. frictional. contact with. I eachr gother andasaidasurfaces-of. said. plates, and.
meanseon-the opposite ends of. each: plate and. overlying-the. longitudinal edgesof. sai-dstrapand! said layers for maintaining parallel'alignment. thereof.-
2.- A jackstrap and.clamp forlooms, comprising,- a-fiat-strap folded to forma .loop and super-.- posed layers adjacent'said loop at one end with an elongated slot in said strap and aligned bolt holes in said layers, a pair of fiat clamp plates including opposed flat surfaces extending uninterruptedly from side to side thereof in opposed relation on opposite faces of said strap and layers, a clamp bolt passing through aligned apertures in said plate and said layers and said slot and adapted to clamp said strap and said layers 5 tudinal edges of said strap and said layers for maintaining parallel alignment thereof.
3. A jack strap and clamp for looms, comprising a flat strap folded to form a loop and superposed layers adjacent said loop at one end with an elongated slot in said strap and aligned bolt holes in said layers, a pair of identical and reversible flat clamp plates including opposed fiat surfaces extending uninterruptedly from side to side thereof in opposed relation on opposite faces of said strap and layers, a clamp bolt passing through aligned apertures in said plates and said layers and said slot and adapted to clamp said strap and said layers tightly between said surfaces in frictional contact with each other and said surfaces of said plates, and means on the opposite ends of each plate and overlying the longitudinal edges of said strap and said layers for maintaining parallel alignment thereof.
4. A jack strap and clamp for looms, comprising a flat strap folded to form a loop and superposed layers adjacent said loop at one end with an elongated slot in said strap and aligned bolt holes in said layers, a pair of identical and reversible flat clamp plates including opposed fiat surfaces extending uninterruptedly from side to side thereof in opposed relation on opposite faces of said strap and layers, a clamp bolt passing through aligned apertures in said plates and said relation on opposite faces of said strap and layers, layers and id S a adapted to C p Said strap and said layers tightly between said surfaces in frictional contact with each other and said surfaces of said plates, and interfitting means on the opposite ends respectively of said plates and overlying the longitudinal edges of said strap and said layers for maintaining parallel alignment thereof.
5. A jack strap and clamp for looms, comprising a flat strap folded to form'a loopand superposed layers adjacent said loop at one end'with an elongated slot in said strap and aligned bolt holes in said layers, a pair of fiat clamp plates including opposed flat surfaces extending uninterruptedly from said to side thereof in opposed relation on opposite faces of said strap and layers, a clamp bolt passing through aligned apertures and a pair of cars on the opposite ends respecin said plates and said layers. and said slot and adapted to clamp said strap and said layers tightly between said surfaces in frictional contact with each other and said surfaces of said plates,
a pair ,of laterally spaced ears on one end of each tively of said plates and extending from said plates substantially at right angles to the planes of said plates for overlying the longitudinal edges of: said strap and said layers for maintaining parallel alignment thereof.
