This invention relates to a new and improved combination lipstick and rouge container.

It has been generally accepted that blending of cosmetic colors enhances the beauty of the user. Hence cosmetic manufacturers have contemplated making lipstick and rouge which harmonize in shade. It is therefore a principal object of this invention to supply users of cosmetics with blended colors of lipstick and rouge in a convenient compact container.

An important object of this invention is to provide a container for blended lipstick and rouge.

Another important object of the invention is the provision of means for housing a lipstick and rouge in a single tubular container.

A further object of the invention is to provide a rouge in the cover of a lipstick container which may be pre-blended by the manufacturer.

Other and still further important objects of this invention will become apparent from the disclosures in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is an exploded view of the combination lipstick and rouge container of this invention.

Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of the assembled lipstick and rouge container as shown in Figure 1.

As shown in the drawings:

The reference numeral It indicates generally a circular base member having an upwardly extending cylindrical housing H for a lipstick i2. Means is provided within the housing ii for causing the lipstick I2 to be moved upwardly a greater or less distance from the top of the cylindrical housing H. The mechanism for providing this lipstick ejection has not been shown inasmuch as it forms no part of the present invention. An elongated cylindrical cover member I3 is adapted to telescopically engage the cylindrical housing ii and thus enclose the lipstick. When the lipstick is used separately from the face rouge a small top cover M is in position as shown in Figure 2. Ordinarily the cover members I3 and it are removable from the lipstick housing H as a single unit whereupon the lipstick 12 may be used as desired and the cover including the members I3 and [4 replaced. However, when it is desired to use both lipstick and rouge, the top cover It is removed so that access may be had to a pad of face rouge it which is preferably press fitted within the upper annular portion 16 of the long cylindrical cover I3. As shown in Figure 2 the rouge I 5 is placed into a shallow cup member I! which has substantially the same diameter as the inner diameter of the sleeve-like cover member [3. It is apparent that with this construction the rouge l5 may be readily gripped by a user by reason of the elongated sleeve cover member i3. Further the rouge may be used without the lipstick being opened or may be used separately from the lipstick after the lipstick has been opened.

The cap l4 and the sleeve-like cover member K5 are provided with cooperative bayonet-type locking members. A pin l8 projects outwardly from the reduced diameter collar 19 of the sleeve member IS. A slot 20 is formed within the cap member [4, the mouth of the slot being in alinement and opposed to the projecting pin Is on the side of the collar IS. The slot 20 has a mouth portion 2i and a laterally and upwardly extending extension 22. When the cap I4 has its skirt portion 23 placed down over the collar IQ of the sleeve member l3, the pin [8 rides up into the mouth 2! of the slot 29. Subsequent rotation of the cap M with respect to the sleeve l3 causes the pin I8 to ride around within the laterally and upwardly inclined portion 22 of the slot 20. Such a procedure securely locks the cap onto the elongated sleeve-like cover member it. Any other suitable means of attachment between the cap l4 and the sleeve member I3 may be used in lieu of the bayonet joint.

As stated above, the cup member carrying the rouge I5 is placed within a shallow cup-like retainer IT. This retainer I! has an annular flange 24 which is adapted to rest on top of the collar L9 to prevent insertion of the cup I! farther than desired. The cup I! is designed relatively shallow so that the overall height of the combination lipstick and. rouge holder will not exceed the overall height of a standard lipstick container by more than a small fraction of an inch. The cup member I! may be held Within the sleeve member iii in any one of a number of ways. However, it is believed that a press fitting of the cup i'i within the sleeve [3 is preferable. In addition the cup H may be removable so that the pad of face rouge may be replaced should it become used up entirely.

Numerous details of construction may be varied throughout a wide range without departing from the principles disclosed in this combination lipstick and rouge container, and I therefore do not propose limiting the patent granted hereon otherwise than as necessitated by the appended claim.

What is claimed is:

A combination lipstick; and rouge container comprising a base, a. tubular housing extending upwardly from said base, a, lipstick vertically positioned in said tubular housing and adapted to move vertically within said tubular housing for use as it projects out the top thereof, an elongated tubular sleeve cover adapted to telescope said tubular housing, a cup press fitted in the top end of said sleeve cover, a rouge pad in said cup, and a removable cap for the top end of the sleeve cover and the rouge pad, whereby the cap may be removed from the sleeve cover to permit use of the rouge and/or the sleeve cover may be removed from the tubular housing to 15 permit use of the lipstick.
