This invention relates to new and useful improvements in novelty ornaments and the primary object of the present invention is to provide an improved novelty ornament made from various lengths of figured and -colored chenille having conformable wire supporting cores adapted to be assembled and connected together to simulate various forms of animals or objects.
Another important objec-t of the present invention is to provide a novelty ornament which will be constructed from figured and colored chenille and so designed as to facilitate the same to be worn upon a coat lapel or other place dominance.
A further object of the invention is to provide an improved method of forming novelty ornaments comprising the cutting of various lengths of figured and colored chenille, assembling the various lengths by twisting Vand tying together, and shaping the assembled products to simulate an animal or other objects.
A still further aim of the present invention is to provide an ornamental gure that is simple and practical in construction, strong and reliable in use, neat and attractive in appearance, small and compact in structure, relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a novelty ornament made in accordance with the present invention;
Figure 2 is a perspective view vof the wires shaped to form the body and tail of the ornament, and tie wires therefor;
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the main body wire with head forming and leg forming wires shaped and attached thereto, and
Figure 4 is a perspective view of one of the chenille strips used in conjunction with the present invention.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration, there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the numeral l represents generally the lower frame, preferably of wire construction, that forms the main portion of the present novelty device. This frame l0 includes a length of wire l2 forming the base body portion of a suitable gured ornament designated generally by the numeral I4. One end portion of this wire I2 is arcuated to provide a side head element I6 which is looped as at I8 at its forward end 20 and terminates in a further arcuated side head element 22 which is looped as at 24 to the forward end 26 of the wire l2 and which then extends forwardly between the side elements I6 and 22 to provide an arcuate central head element 28, the forward end 30 of which extends through loop I8.
Looped as at 62 and 34 adjacent the forward end 26 and rear end 36 of the wire l2, are the central portions of a pair of substantially U- shaped forward legs 38 and a pair of rear legs i6 having their free ends turned forwardly to provide bearing feet 42, as best shown in Figure 3 of the drawings.
The numeral ill represents the upper frame or back portion of the figured ornament I4 generally, preferably formed from a single length of wire. One portion of this wire is curved upwardly and forwardly to provide an arcuate central tail portion or main tail base 46, the lower end of which is arcuated to provide a substantially inverted U-shaped or humped central back element 48, the uppermost central portion of which is spaced relative to the free extremity 56 of the central tail portion 46. The forward end 52 of this central back element 48 is looped as at 5d and extends rearwardly to provide an arcuate back side element 56 adjacent the elemen-t 63, which extends between the juncture of the tail portion i6 and the central back element A8, through the loop 54, and back to the juncture of the tail portion l5 with the central back element 48, to provide a lower ring or elliptical element 48, which is arcuated adjacent the central tail portion 46 to provide a side tail portion 60 that is looped as at 62 about the end 50 of the central tail portion and is curved downwardly and forwardly to provide a further side tail portion 6A, the lower end 66 of which is coiled as at 68 at the juncture of the central tail portion 46 with the central back element 48. The end 66 then extends arcuately forward to provide a further back side element 70, the forward end 'l2 of which terminates between the loops 54.
The upper frame 44 is secured at its looped portions 54 and coil portion 68 by wire strips or pieces 'i4 and 'i6 to the forward end 26 of the wire I2 and adjacent the rear end 36 of said wire l2.
It should be noted, that the upper extremity of the central back element d8 is disposed above the upper extremities of the similar side back elements 56 and 16, and that the same is disposed at substantially right angles-to the ring element '58,
3 whereas the side back elements 56 and 'l0 are inclined to both the central back element 48 and the ring element 58.
It is preferred, that chenille strips or any other suitable type of towel material T8, 80 and 82 0f a preferably white material be secured to the respective central arcuate head element 28, the sideback elements 56 and 1'0 and the central tail element 46. Also that chenille strips 84, 86, 88, 90 and 92 of preferably black material or figured material be secured to the respective side head elements I6 and 22, the ring elements 58, the central back element 48, the side tail elements 66 and 64, and the leg and feet portions .38, 4t and 42.
For the purpose of further simulating an animal, suitable eyes 94 are xed to the sidehead elements I6 and 22 that extend outwardly from the 'strips 86.
Although all of the said strips of chenille or the like are provided with cores 96 that terminate in attaching wires 98 that facilitate the same to be `applied to their respective portions oi' the upper and lower frames, it should be understood that the strips may be glued to the frame without deviating from the scope of the present invention. After completing the ornament I4 illustrated in Figure l, a'brush should be employed for vigorouslybrushing all of the chenille ystrips so that there will exist no space between adjacent strips of chenille.
`In-viewof the foregoing description taken in conjunction `with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the construction, operation and advantages of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.
It is 4to be understood, however, that even thoughfthere is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fullycomprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
`1. A novelty ornament comprising a frame including a straight length of wire cored material terminating in an arcuate head portion, said head portion including a central arcuate wire coredelement and a pair of arcuate forwardly converging wire cored side elements joined at a nose and neck, and two pairs of supporting wire cored leg elements carried by the straight length of wire cored material, the free ends of said leg elements forming co-planar bearing feet spaced parallel-to the straight length of wire cored material, each wire cored element comprising a pair of relatively twisted wires and brous material gripped by and covering said wires, said brous material tapering in length 'from the middle to the ends of each of said wire cored elements.
2` A novelty ornament comprising a frame including a straight length of wire cored material terminating in an arcuate head portion, said head portion including a central arcuate wire cored element and a pair of arcuate forwardly converging wire cored side elements joined at a nose and neck, two pairs of supporting wire cored leg elements carried by the straight length of wire cored material, the free ends of said leg elements forming co-planar bearing feet spaced parallelto'the straight length of wire cored material, and a secondsubstantlally dome-shaped frame including a plurality of wire cored back forming elements connected together and to the end portions of the straight length of wire cored material, each wire cored element of said frames comprising a pair of relatively twisted wires and brous material gripped by and covering said wires, said fibrous material tapering in length from the mid-point to the ends of each of said elements.
`3. The combination of claim 2, wherein said second frame includes a tail portion, said tail portion comprising a plurality of arcuate wire cored elements joined at their ends and to the free end portion of said straight length oi wire ccred'material.
4. The combination of claim 2, wherein said :secondframe includes a central arcuate back element, a pair of arcuate side back elements, a lowerycontinuous backelement, and a tail portion comprising a plurality of arcuate wire cored elements joined at their ends and to the free end portionffoi said straight `length of wire cored material.
'5."The combination of claim 2, wherein said tail portion includes a central tail forming wire cored element, and a pair of side tail forming wire cored elements.

A novelty ornament comprising upper and lower frames, said lower frame including a straight'length of wire cored material terminatingl in an arcuate head portion, said head portion including a central arcuate wire cored element and a pair of arcuate forwardly converging wire cored side elements -joined at a nose and neck, and twopairs oi supporting wire cored leg ele ments carried by the straight length of wire cored material, the free ends of said leg elements forming co-planar bearing feet spaced substantially parallel'tothe straight length of wire cored material, said upper frame including a back portion and a tail portion, said back portion comprising `a central back forming wire cored element, a pair ofsideback forming wire cored elements and a continuous back forming wire cored element, said tail portion including a central tail forming wire cored element and a pair of side tail forming wire cored elements joined at their ends and to the free end portion of said straight length of wire cored material, each of said frame forming elements comprising a pair of relatively twisted wires andbrous material gripped between and covering lsaid wires, the brous material tapering in lengthrfrom a 'mid-point to the ends of each of ysaid frame forming elements to provide bunches of brOusmateriaI, the brous material on the central element of said head portion, the sideback elements of said back `portion and the central element of said tail portion being of a similar color, and the .fibrous material on the central element and continuous element of said back portion, the side elements of said head portion, the leg elements,.and side elements of said tail portion being of similar color.
