1 Claim.

This invention relates to means for improving writing, and also facilitating writing. More specifically, it relates to a guide for a pencil or a pen, for improving writing, etc.

The invention is applicable for children, and also for adults.

It is well known to parents and teachers, among others, in the case of children, their difficulty in learning to write, and that they frequently will write in a curved manner instead of in a straight line.

According to the principle of my invention, I provide a movable support on the writing paper, with the support being more or less secured to the pen or pencil.

In the form shown, I have provided a pair of legs, to give steadiness to the guide.

I have also provided an opening for the pencil or pen, and, there may be also provided a slit above the opening, to permit pens or pencils of larger size to be inserted.

There also may be provided a cut-out underneath the opening, to permit the legs to be pulled together to allow the slit to open.

Other objects and advantages will appear and be brought out more fully in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Fig. 1 is a side elevation, shown applied to a pencil in use.

Fig. 2 is a plan side elevation.

Fig. 3 is a front'elevation.

Fig. 4 is a top elevation.

Referring to the drawing in detail, in which I have shown the of illustrating the principle of my invention, I have shown a pencil support 5, having legs 6 and I, and a pencil-gripping portion 8, which is slit as at 9.

I have also provided a cut-out, as at [0, if desired, to facilitate the legs 6 and 1 being pulled together, to permit the entry of pencils of larger sizes.

It will be understood that some people may prefer that the device be reversed, and this may be done as illustrated in dotted lines in Fig. 1.

It will be observed that the opening 8 is inclined, as at l I, and provides a different angle when the pen or pencil is reversed, as will be readily apparent upon using.
