This invention relates to a douche particularly adapted for vaginal use, and in particular a douche having a mixing chamber directly attached to a water faucet wherein a medicated capsule may be placed in the mixing chamber and the conventional vaginal douche nozzle with a rubber tube extended therefrom may be con nected to a nipple extended from the mixing chamber.
The purpose of this invention is to eliminate the inconvenience of preparing a douche in a hot water bottle and hanging the bottle in an elevated position upon a wall or the like.
The usual type of douche is provided with a container for a solution and a rubber tube with a nozzle on the outer end is connected to a nipple extended from the container. With the parts arranged in this manner it is necessary to hold the container below a water faucet to provide a supply of water therein and then, with a clamp around the tube, hang the container in an elevated position above a toilet bowl or the like. This is not only inconvenient but the supply of the douche liquid is limited. With this thought in mind this invention contemplates a douche having the usual rubber tube and nozzle and a fitting by which the rubber tube may be directly connected to a water faucet for providing the water for the douche and in which water flowing through the douche is medicated by a capsule, preferably of soluble material, positioned in the fitting.
The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide means in a hose connection for a douche wherein the douche may readily be connected to a water faucet.
Another object of the invention is to provide a douche having means for medicating water passing therethrough, that may be attached to water faucets without changing the design of the faucet.
A further object of the invention is to provide a douche particularly adapted for vaginal use which includes means for directly attaching the douche to a water faucet and means for medicating water passing therethrough which is of a simple and economical construction.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawings wherein:
Figure l is a side elevational view illustrating the douche with a conventional vaginal nozzle on the end of a rubber tube and with the tube connected to a cylindrical fitting suspended from a water faucet by an adapter of resilient material.
Figure 2 is a vertical section through the fitting and adapter with the adapter positioned on the upper end of the fitting.
Figure 3 is a side elevational view of the fitting.
Figure 4 is a cross section through the fitting taken on line I- d of Figure 2.
Figure 5 isa plan view of the adapter.
Figure 6 a vertical section through the adapter.
Referring now to the drawings wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts the water faucet vaginal douche of this invention includes a tubular fitting l0 and a suction adapter H with a strainer l2 in the fitting, and a vaginal nozzle l3 that is connected to a nipple M at the lower end of the fitting ID by a tube I5.
The tubular fitting 10, which is preferably formed of clear hard plastic is provided with an external annular shoulder 26 and with an internal annular shoulder IS in the lower end on which the strainer I2 is positioned. The lower end of the fitting is provided with a reducing section IT and the nipple l4 over which the end of a tube I5 is positioned extends from the lower end of the section H. The nipple I4 is formed on a radius so that it extends toward one side to facilitate inserting the end of the tube 15 thereon with the adapter positioned on a water faucet in a wash basin or the like. i
The upper end of the fitting I0 is provided with threads [8 on which the adapter II is threaded and the adapter is provided with an inclined inwardly disposed tapering web l9 with an annular recess 20 below the web and a bead 2| extending around the upper end. The adapter II which is formed of rubber of other suitable resilient material is threaded on the fitting and an opening 22 in the center thereof is positioned to receive the lower end of an outlet spout 23 of a water faucet, as indicated by the numeral 24.
-With the parts arranged in this manner the capsule of a suitable soluble medicament, as indicated by the numeral may be positioned on the strainer l2 in the tubular fitting i0 and with the nozzle I 3 connected to the nipple M at the lower end of the container by the tube 115, water passing from the faucet 24 washes over the capsule 25 dissolving some of the medicament thereof whereby the water passing to the nozzle is medicated.
Although it is preferred to form the tubular fitting I0 of plastic and the suction or gripping adapter of rubber, it will be understood that other suitable materials may be used.
It will be understood that modifications may be made in the design and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention but any changes permitted must fall within T the purview of the claim asserted in this application.
What is claimed is:
In a water faucet douche, the combination which comprises a tubular casing having an internal annular shoulder at the lower end thereof,
a transversely positioned strainer in the lower end thereof on the shoulder and having an arcuate nipple extended from the said lower end below the shoulder, an external annular shoulder on said casing above said internal annular shoulder, and an adapter having an opening therethrough and having an annular recess and an inwardly extended annular resilient flange in the upper end above the recess and an exterior bead in line with said recess and internal threads below said recess whereby said adapter is threaded on the said tubular casing until the lower edge of said adapter engages the external annular shoulder on said casing. 1
