.ApplicatiomFebruary 13, 1947, Serial No. 728,283
'1 Qlaim.
.Theinvention relates to an adjustableholder,
v,positiomwhen ,the: saidholder is mounted on an article of furniture,-such for exampleas a crib, bed. oritheilike, tohavethe bottle. in-a convenient vposition,.for the feeding of an infant, without ...liability of becoming displaced, accide'ntly drop- .ping and ,getting out of feeding range ofsuch infant.
:Anotherobject of .the invention is the provision ofa holder of this character, wherein it is unique and novel-in co-nstruction, to permit the .same to be easily :fixed in any position desired convenient-to the infant being fed,-without liabil- .ity of the .said .infant moving it out of theway, andsuch infant'can-be fed from either the right orthe left side in a horizontal plane, as-well as from any angle in the vertical plane, whether sitting up or lying down.
Aiurtherobject-of the invention is the provision of a holder of this character, wherein it can be folded up outof the way without removing it from the piece of furniture to which it is clamped, the clip of such holder being such that a firm grip is had upon the bottle and the latter can be tipped to any required-angle regardless of howthe child may handle or push itheisaid bottle.
..=A .still 1 further object of "the invention is the iprovisioniof a .holder .of this :character, .wherein it will not damage. a .bottle; held. thereby or -mar the article .of furniture .to which. it may-.be -applied, and allowing adjustment? from either side, top or bottom of such furniture, to any desired angle, with ease and dispatch, requiring no separate fixtures for attachment and will not mar or damage the article of furniture, being self-contained, and easily attached and removed at will.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a holder of this character, wherein it is in the nature of a bracket, with an adjustment of one of its members to an :arc of 180 degrees, while another member can be swung to approximately 340 degrees, and the clip for the bottle can rotate through an arc of 360 degrees, thus allowing the bottle itself to be moved horizontally 360 degrees and permitting it to be adjusted at any vertical position within an arc of 360 degrees, thereby effecting any angle of adjustment in any plane between the horizontal and the vertical.
A still further object of vthe inventionissthe provision ofa holder: of this character, -whicheis .simple in construction, thoroughly reliablerand efficient in operation, strong, durable, :neat t in appearance, compact, readily-andeasily;adjusted,
applied and removed, with .dispatch,.,conveniently folded, thereby requiring minimum space :for its transportation and handling, n and inexpensivezto manufacture and install.
With these and other objects in view ':the finvention consists in the-features of construction,
combination and arrangement aof :parts :as 'J-W'ill be hereinafter:more'fullydescribed;illustrated:in
the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred embodiment :of .sthe "invention, and
pointed out ingthe claim :hereunto appended. In the accompanyingdrawing: [Figure :1 is :a fragmentary "vertical i'sectional view through. a side :portion :of :a :crib, :sho-wing the holder "constructed in accordance withjiithe invention applied for use.

The holder constituting the present invention, comprises a substantially C-shaped attaching clamp or jawed attaching member I I, its jaws l2, and i3, respectively, are joined through the medium of a cross-web I4, while threaded through the jaw I2 is a manually operated adjustable binding screw [5 having a swiveled gripping buttom l6 within the clamp or member between the said jaws l2 and [3 thereof, while tapped onto the outermost end of this screw is a finger engaging knob l1, it being held fast in any 3 suitable manner on the said screw. On the outer face of the jaw 13 is a pair of crosswise aligned substantially L-shaped bearings I8, which are made secure in any suitable manner and have disposed therebetween one end of a swinging arm 19, which is longitudinally straight and is turnable about a pivot bolt 29 passed transversely through the said bearings and end of the arm,
the bolt being fitted with an adjustable binding knob 2 i so that such arm 19 can be secured frictionally in any angular position within an arc that such member can be held secure in any desired rotated position.
The member 25 on its right angular terminal ear 28 has connected thereto a double-tined nursing bottle retaining clip 29, which at the shank 39 thereof is connected for adjustment by a pivot bolt 3| carrying abinding knob 32 to the said ear 28, the clip being covered by a resilient or pliable coating or sheathing 33, which prevents damaging the bottle, not shown, as may be clamped therein, and this coating or sheathing enables a firm grip upon the bottle while held to avoid accidental dropping from orshifting or slipping in the said clip. The tines of the clip 29 are resilient or inherently springy to assure a positive grip on the bottle, which is readily and easily placed in or removed therefrom with dispatch.
The coating or sheathing next to the knob 32 serves to more firmly bind the pivotal connection between the clip and the arm adjacent thereto together, so as to hold the clip in a fixed position under adjustment thereof.
In the use of the holder the clamp or jawed member II is brought into a position to straddle or saddle a support, as for example the rail 10, and made secure thereto by the screw l5, whereupon the arms IQ and 22 are adjusted to a selected angle with respect to each other, then the c1ip29'is shifted to the desired relation thereto, and finally the bottle is mounted in the said clip,
.so that such bottle will be held in a convenient position with'respect to an infant for the feeding of the same whether lying down or sitting up.
-The arms 19 and 22 have a wide range of ad- 4 justment with respect to each and the clamp and clip H and 29, respectively, also have a wide range of adjustment, so that the holder can be regulated for the convenient holding of the bottle in proper position for the easy feeding of an infant therefrom.
The holder when not in use can be readily swung out of the way and in a compact condition or when such holder is detached from a support it may be folded for storage or transportation within minimum space.
What is claimed is:
A nursing bottle holder comprising a pair of straight arms pivoted together end-to-end in alignment with each other, a clamp engageable with a support pivoted to the outermost free end of one arm for its swinging movement at substantially right angles to said support, a substantially L-shaped bracket forming extensions at rightangles to each other .a pair of manually adjustable pivot means extending through each of said extensions in juxtaposed relation to each other, one of said pivot means pivotally connecting one extension to the outermost free end of the other arm, and a bottle clip pivotally connected by the other pivot means to the other extension for holding the said clip offset to the pair of arms and cooperating with the bracket to place the clip aboveand below said arms by following through arcuate paths of movements at right angles to each other, said bottle clamp having a plurality of resilient tines for positively gripping a bottle, said clamp having a shank and an aperture forming a part of said other pivot means and extending at a right angle to the plane of said tines whereby a bottle held by said clamp may be adjusted by both of said juxtaposed pivot means in vertical planes at right angles to each other, said tines and shank being covered with a resilient sheathing for resiliently gripping a bottle and forming a resilient pivotal connection between the shankand the said other extension.
