This invention relates to new and useful improvements and structural refinements in the construction of pillows, and the principal object of the invention is to efficiently sustain the pillow tick against shifting or displacement in the pillow case.

The above object is achieved by the provision of a pocket in the pillow case to receive the tick, an improtant feature or" the invention residing in the provision of closure means for the pocket, which permits the tick to be quickly easily replaced, when so desired.

Some of the advantages of the invention lie in its simplicity of construction, in its adaptability to economical manufacture, and in its adaptability for embodiment in pillows of different sizes and types, such as for example, pillows for twin beds, a double bed, a bolster, and the like.

With the above more important objects and features in view, and such other objects and features as may become apparent as this specification proceeds, the invention consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is an end view showing the closed end of a pocket in an open end of a pillowcase, such as for example, that of a twin bed pillow;

Figure 2 is an end view of the pillow case shown in Figure 1 and illustrating the open end of the pocket in the open end of the case;

Figure 3 is an end view of the closed end of a pillow case, such as for example, that of a double bed;

Figure 4 is an end view of the pillow case shown in Figure 3 and illustrating the open end of the pocket in the open end of the case;

Figure 5 is an end view illustrating the open end Of a pocket in the open end of a case, such as for example, a bolster case, and

Figure 6 is an end View illustrating the other end of the pillow case shown in Figure 5.

Like characters of reference are employed to designate like parts in the specification and throughout the several views.

Referring now to the accompanying drawings in detail, more particularly to Figures 1 and 2 which illustrate a twin bed pillow case, the case is indicated by the reference character A, the same containing a tick receiving pocket B which is stitched to the case A at opposite side edges as indicated at C.

The case A is open at both ends thereof, while the pocket B has a closed end D and an open end E. The open end of the pocket is provided with a suitable closure, such as for example, pairs of tie cords F.

The accompanying Figures 3 and 4 illustrate a double bed pillow case which is open at one end adjacent the open end E of the pocket B, while the other end of the case at the closed end of the pocket is also closed as indicated at G. The accompanying Figures 5 and 6 illustrate a bolster case open at both ends thereof and containing a pair of pockets which have open outer ends at the open ends of the case and closed inner ends adjacent the center of the case, whereby to receive two ticks in the pillow case, as will be understood.

It is believed that the advantages and use of the invention will be clearly apparent from the foregoing disclosure and, accordingly, further description thereof at this point is deemed unnecessary.

While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. The combination of a pillow case open at least at one end thereof, a tick receiving pocket provided in said case and stitched to the latter at opposite side edges thereof, said pocket having an open end adjacent the open end of the pillow case, and closure means for the open end or" said pocket.

2. The structure as defined in claim 1, wherein said pillow case is closed at the other end thereof, the other end of said pocket being closed and disposed in the closed end portion of said case.

3. The structure as defined in claim 1, wherein said pillow case is open at the other end thereof, the other end of said pocket being closed and disposed in said other open end portion of said case.
