Specification of Letters Patent No. 26,438, dated December 13, 1859.`

To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE A. LATHROP, of East Saginaw, in the county of Saginaw and State of Michigan, have invented a new and Improved Shutter or Blind for Windows, &c.; and I do hereby declare that the `following is a full, clear, and `exact descriptlon of the same, reference being had to the The ob'eet of my invention 1s to produce a shutter or blind that is at once simple, cheap,

Aeasily operated and fire-proof; and it consists 1n combining with a metallic plate provided with slots and water-sheds or slats a. slotted slide in such a manner that the light may be admitted or excluded at pleasure, and that a fire-proof blind is produced.

To enable others skilled in the art to .make and use my invention I will proceed to describe it.

A metal plate A, is furnished with slots a, and intermediate spaces o. In order to form the slots,incisions are made on three sides, and the metal is now bent up to an angle of about 35 degrees, more or less, so as to form watersheds or slats o, similar to the slats ofV common wooden blinds. The form of these slats, and the manner in which they are bent is clearly shown in Figs. 1, and.
