(Cl. 22i-5) 1 Claim.
This invention relates to golf tee holders and more particularly to improvements in holders for golf tees of the character which may be carried by the shoe of the golfer in such a fashion natural position which the golfer assumes in readying the ball for a drive. Similarly, the position of the tee carrier enables the golfer to readily replace the tee therein.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a tee carrier which may be easily aflixed to the shoe of the golfer in such a Way that it does not interfere with normal walking and it need not be removed from the shoe during the normal course of changing the shoes.
Further objects of the invention are to provide a novel tee holder which is extremely simple of use and inexpensive of manufacture and which holds snugly tees therein during use.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent upon referring to the specification and accompanying drawings in which similar characters of reference represent corresponding parts in the several views.
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a shoe with the invention attached thereto.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the tee holder.
Fig. 3 is a sectional View taken on line 33 of Fig. 2.
As illustrated in Fig. l the invention is arranged for attachment to a golf shoe of conventional type. The tee holder may be attached to either the right or left shoe and on either side of the shoe depending on the individual desires of the golfer.
The device comprises a sheet of flexible material such as leather, suitable plastic material, fabric or the like folded upon itself and provided with stitching to form a plurality of pockets open from the top to receive tees therein. A plurality of spaced apertures are formed adjacent the top edge of the device so that the lace of a shoe may be inserted and laced therethrough in order to attach the device to the shoe.
The sheet of flexible material is indicated generally at 2 and is folded back upon itself at 3 to form a double thickness. For purposes of convenience the back portion is identified at 4 and the folded front portion is indicated at 5. It is noted that portion 5 is folded back to over-lie portion 4 a little more than half the distance from top to bottom thereof. A plurality of spaced stitches t are provided from top to bottom of portion 5 to stitch portion 5 to portion l thus forming a plurality of spaced pockets l which are open at the top to receive tees E therein.
Preferably the stitches B forming a pocket I! are converged toward one another from top to bottom to hold snugly tees therein and the diameter of the top opening of each pocket is less than the diameter of the head of a tee. The back portion t projects above the top of front portion 5 and is formed with a plurality of apertures l2 adjacent the top edge thereof. The apertures iii are spaced from one another in conformity with the usual spacing of eyelets or grommets l3 found in lace shoes with which the device is arranged to be used. The lace i l of the shoe is inserted and laced through the apertures I 2 to thus secure the tee holder relative to the shoe,
it being noted that the shoe may be changed without disturbing the lace arrangement which connects the tee holder thereto.
In operation the tee holder is laced to one side of the shoe so that the pockets l are opened at the top and accessible for insertion and removal of tees. When the golfer stoops to position a ball for a drive or to retrieve the tee, he may while in that position, easily remove or position the tee in the holder. The back portion i of the holder is preferably formed to over-lie only the instep of the shoe so that even though the holder is carried on the inside of the right or left shoe the user is not conscious of its presence though he stands with his feet close together and his shoes in contact with one another. The holder is carried more on top of the shoe than on the side thereof it being noted that the sole of the shoe projects laterally from the shoe a greater distance than the holder carrying the toes.
While the device has been described and illustrated in specific detail for purposes of clarity of understanding it is understood that various changes and modifications in the construction and use of the tee holder may be practiced within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim.
I claim:
A golf tee holder for removable attachment to laced, ankle-high shoes provided with spaced lace-receiving grommets located longitudinally and centrally atop the instep of the shoe comprising a sheet of flexible material folded upon itself to form an elongated back portion and a front portion, the top of said front portion terminating below the top of said back portion, said front and back portions stitched together to form a plurality of tee-enclosing pockets arranged from top to bottom of the front portion and open at the top and closed at the bottom by the fold of said sheet, the open top ends of said pockets being of less diameter than the diameter of a tee head, and a plurality of spaced lacereeeiving apertures formed in the back member adjacent to the top edge thereof and above the open ends of said pockets, said apertures spaced from one another in substantial conformity with the lace-receiving grommets of the shoe to which the holder is arranged for attachment so that said apertures substantially register with the lace-receiving grommets provided in the shoe and whereby the back member of the holder rests upon the shoe to which it is attached and depends from the lacing of the shoe and overlies the top of the instep portion of the shoe so that the portion of the holder below the lacereceiving apertures rides loosely on the side of the shoe, the bottom of the holder bein spaced substantially above the sole of the shoe.
