The device whose essence has been pointed out in the foregoing paragraph embodies a modified Iversion of the classic cup and ball plaything, inasmuch -as when the small ball made of heavy material is whirled by displacements imparted to the platform by means of the handle and said small ball drops into the cup, the swing beam is subjected to an yabrupt rocking movement followed by the oscillatory displacement of the projection towards the ball lodged'in the recipient and which is expelled, by the impact of said projection, from said recipient in ascending ight.

The interesting feature of t-he device in question consists, as far as the functional aspect is concerned, in proceeding with due dexterity to, on the one hand, prevent the small ball from being chucked out of the cup under the effect of the repulse due to the strong angular displacement of the swing beam owing to the collision of said small ball with the bottom thereof, and on the other hand, to interpose the upper mouth of the recipient within the droppin-g path of the ball in order to receive the same with a view to compute the marks or hits, the prize being double when the small ball and the ball remain lodged within their respective recipients at the end of each playing period.

The device to which -the present invention relates will now be described hereinafter completely in accordance with the accompanying drawing wherein:

From the upper face'of said platform .project two lateral shoulders 2v arranged coaxially in coincident alignment withv the upper e'nd of handle 1,' a swing beam b, being pivotally mounted by means of ya pin 3 between said shoulders, said pin being the supporting and guiding shaft for the rocking play of said swing beam.

The swing beam b is arranged at a sufficient height from the upper face of platform a to allow the oscillatory play of the same within the required magnitude for the normal development of the game, the forearm 4 of said swing beam being smaller than arm 5.

To the free end of arm 4, i.e., to its upper face a cup `6 is secured, and to the free end of arm 5, i.e., also to the upper face thereof, a projection 7 is secured in coincident alignment with the geometric center of the lower mouth of a recipient 8 containing a ball 9 made of light material and which emerges slightly from said lower mouth.

The recipient A8 is linked to the upper face of platform a by means of the stays l10 so dimensioned as to allow the lower mouth of said recipient to remain at a height such as to cause the impacts of the projection .'I on the ball -9 to be efficient.

From that end of platform a with which the end of arm 4 provided with cup 6 registers extends a string 11 to whose free end is attached la small ball 12 made of heavy material, preferably lead, and which constitutes t-he active means for the development of the game.

Ilhe development of the game is as follows: by means of handle 1 platform a is maneuvered to a degree such as to cause the small ball I12 freely suspending from string 11 to whirl, when it is tried to have the same land within cup 6 which, owing to the impact of said small ball, imparts to `arm 4 of swing beam b and angular displacement in the sense of arrow F of Figure l and, thereupon, to 4arm 5 the one indicated by arrow F1, thereby bringing about a heavy impact of projection 7 on such portion of ball I9 as emerges from the lower mouth of recipient 8, which ball is thus pushed through the upper mouth of said recipient. Therefore, if the player -goes about with suicient dexterity toplace the recipient within the dropping path of the ball and get it landed inside said recipient, Ia given yamount of hits is credited in his favor, and if his dexterity reaches a climax such as to prevent the small ball 12 from leaving cup 6, the amount of hits will be doubled. It is obvious that ulterior detail modifications may bev introduced in the unit constituting the device of the present invention as may be suggested by practice and without thereby departing from the scope of the following claming clauses.

We claim:

1. A toy of the class described comprising a bearing platform, a pair of laterally aligned shoulders projecting labove said platform, a beam pivoted intermediate its ends on said shoulders, a ball receiving cup `fixed to one end of said beam and a projection extending upwardly from the other end of said beam, a tapered receptacle open Iat its opposite ends and adapted to receive a relatively large ball with a diameter sufficiently great to prevent its complete emergence from the lower end of the receptacle, means supporting said receptacle on said platform with its lower open end out of contact therewith land with the Iaxis of the receptacle in alignment with the axis of fthe projection, a second ball having a smaller diameter tha-n said first ball and being adapted to be received in said cup, a string tethering said second ball to said platform adjacent said cup, and a handle secured to said platform for maneuvering said device to swing said second ball into said cup, whereby the beam will be swung about its pivot causing the projection thereon to strike the ball in said receptacle and drive it outof the upper open end thereof.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein the portion of the beam between its pivot and the cup is of shorter length than the length of the beam between its pivot and the receptacle.
