(Cl. 128-146) This invention relates to a facial mask.

It is the principal object of the present invention to provide a holder frame adapted to be extended about the head and over the front of the face, nose and under the chin to retain a cleaning tissue over the nose and mouth in a close tightly fitted manner.

It is another object of the invention to provide a facial mask that can be made up from cleaning tissue which when placed in the holder frame, the frame can be bent to the contour of the fact and will provide a complete seal over the mouth and nose without gaps, inside sweating, without giving to the user a stuffy smothered feeling, the holder frame being formed of flexible, bendable, soft lead-like wire which will conform to the shape to which it is depressed thereby making for adequate sealing of the tissue about the face.

It is still another object of the invention to provide a facial mask which is inexpensive and economical to use by the employment of facial tissues and effectively adapted as a protection against colds, hay fever, asthma, paint spraying, acute infections, dusting, cleaning and atomic fall out and for use in the babys room.

Other objects of the invention are to provide a cleansing tissue facial mask having the above objects in mind, which is of simple construction, inexpensive to manufacture, light in weight, easy to apply to the face, has a minimum number of parts, permits individual fitting to the face, adapted for quick change of tissue, holds the tissue tightly over the face passages, and provides a large filtration area, durable, efiicient, sanitary and effective in use.

For a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of the facial mask formed of bendable wire and securing a cleaning tissue over the nose and mouth of the wearer,

Referring now particularly to FIGS. 1 to 4, a single long piece of soft lead wire is bent with long ends overlying and so connected together as to provide double transverse soft lead- like wire portions 10 and 11 that are adapted to extend across and over the nose and bent into conformity therewith as best shown in FIG. 1 and 3,038,470 Patented June 12, 1962 "ice a chin sling loop wire portion 16 adapted to be disposed under the chin of the wearer, the very tip ends of the wire being terminated and finally joined to the sides of the loop Wire portion by being formed into coils 17 and 18. The two wire portions 10 and 11 support a cleansing tissue 12 from one of its corners 12 by threading it under Wire 11 and downwardly between the wire portions 10 and 11 to assume the dotted line position at FIG. 3 so the tissue corner 12 extends with the body of the tissue over the nose of the wearer, FIGS. 1 and 4. The long ends of the double transverse wire portions 10 and 11, are formed to provide loops 13 and 14 to which the looped ends of a supporting elastic head band 15 are attached. The elastic extends tightly about the back of the ears of the wearer to pull the parallel wire portions 10 and 11 and the tissue tightly against the sides of the face and over the bridge of the nose.

In order to retain the main part of the tissue over the mouth and chin the depending loop wire portion 16 also is formed of the same soft bendable wire and extended downwardly from the opposite ends of the parallel wire portions 10 and 11 and made secure thereto by spiraling the tip ends of the single wire as indicated at 17 and 18 as coils as shown in FIGS 2 and 3. This chin sling loop wire portion 16 is extended downwardly under the chin and bent to conform to the sides of the face while the double wire portions 10 and 11 are bent to extend over the nose. The tissue 12 will be held tightly against the nose and face thereby requiring the user of the mask to breathe through the tissue as a complete seal of the tissue is made over the nose, sides of the face and under the chin.

In FIG. 5, there is shown a modification in which the long ends of a single wire provide bendable transverselyextending wire portions 10' and 1 overlying one another between which the corner 12 of the tissue 12 is extended. A loop 16" is made from the wire portion 10' about the wire portion 11 to connect the tWo portions together at one side and then the wire is coiled about the end of the elastic head band 15 to secure the same to the depending chin loop portion 16 of the single wire. The opposite tip ends of the wire portions 10' and 11 can be similarly spiraled to connect the opposite ends of the elastic head band 15 thereto. The loops 13 and 14 of the first form of the invention are accordingly dispensed with. The cleansing tissue 12 is similarly connected to the bendable wire frame and the mask secured about the face in the same manner as shown in FIG. 1 Where the bendable transverse portions 11) and 11 are bent to conform to the nose and front of the face and the chin depending wire portion 16 is bent under the chin and sides of the face.

In FIG. 9, there is provided a slightly different means for securing the end of the elastic head band to the wire. In this form of the invention, bendable transversely-extending wire portions 22' and 23 are connected to the end of rubber head band 21] by a coil retaining portion 26 formed from one tip end of the wire and from which a bendable chin loop portion 21 depends. The spiraling of the wire portion 22' is effected without looping the same about the other transverse Wire portion 23 as is done in the form of the invention shown in FIGS. 1 to 5 by single coil 10" that connects the portion 10 about the wire portion 11'.

Referring now particularly to FIGS. 6, 7 and 8, there is shown a tissue mask holder formed of bendable leadlike Wire that has its ends overlying one another to provide double transversely-extending portions 22 and '23 adapted to be fitted about the nose of the user of the mask and a depending bendable chin engaging portion. An elastic head band 21) adapted to be fitted about the head is secured to the transversely-extending portions 22 and 23 and the chin portion 21 at opposite sides of the holder by squeeze collars 24 and 25. The squeeze collars 24 and 25 thus replace the coil grip portions l8, l8 and 26 in the forms of the invention shown in FIGS. 1 to 5 and 9.

It should be apparent that there has been provided a holder frame for the cleansing tissue which when used together makes for an inexpensive facial mask that can be used on many occasions to prevent the spreading of germs.

While various changes may be made in the detailed construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A facial mask frame for supporting cleansing tissue over the face of a wearer having bendable double wire portions adapted to extend across the nose and face or" the wearer and bendable to conform thereto, said double wire portions being adapted to receive the corner of the cleansing tissue therebetween and to support the same so that the body of the tissue can extend over the nose, mouth and under the chin of the wearer, a chin sling portion of bendable wire depending from the opposite ends of the double wire portions and adapted to be shaped to and underlie the chin of the wearer to hold the tissue further against the sides of the face and under the chin and thereby over the nose and mouth of the wearer, an elastic head band adapted to surround the back of the head of the wearer to hold the mask upon the face, and

means for securing the ends of the bendable double wire and chin sling wire portions and the ends of the head band together at the opposite sides of the mask frame.

A facial mask frame for supporting cleansing tissue over the face of a wearer as defined in claim 1, and said double and chin sling wire portions and the means for securing the ends of these portions and the ends of the head band together being formed of a single bendable lead-like wire having the middle of the wire providing the depending chin sling wire portion and long ends of the wire overlying one another to provide the bendable double wire portions and the final tips being spiraled about the ends of the elastic head band to provide said means for securing the wire portions and the ends of the head band together at the opposite sides of the mask.

A facial mask frame for supporting cleansing tissue over the face of a wearer as defined in claim 1, and said double and chin sling wire portions being formed of a single bendable lead-like wire having the middle of the wire providing the depending chin sling wire portion, and the long ends of the wire overlying one another to provide the bendable double wire portions and said means for securing said portions and the ends of the rubber band together comprising squeeze collars fixedly secured to and surrounding the wire portions and the ends of the rubber band.
