Description
F. E HUCKER DISPLAY DEVICE Filed March 24, 1961 April 30, 1963 I NV EN TOR. fi'e/m c/s 5 Maze-e ATTo/eZ'x United States Patent 3,087,624 DISPLAY DEVICE Francis E. Husker, Covington, Ky. Filed Mar. 24, 1961, Ser. No. 98,074 2 Claims. (Cl. 211-87) My petition relates to a display device which is adapted to be folded and assembled on short notice.
The principal object of my auxiliary display device is the provision of a foldable device, having braces which aliix to a permanent structure.
Another object of my invention is to provide a display device having a hinged portion, and having a board into which pegs may be placed to support various items for display purposes.
Still another object of my invention is to provide a display device having a leg which forms part of the lower hinged portion of the device, and a hinged leg attached to the upper portion of my display device which upper hinged leg is adapted to be secured to a permanent structure.
Still another object of my invention is to provide for the folding of this auxiliary display device so that it may be readily carried by one person.
111 general my invention comprises a display board into which fine or small holes have been made, which holes receive pegs upon which hangers are placed to support shelving or other structures for displaying merchandise.
My invention consists of this display board which is mounted on a pair of hinged bracket members. These hinged bracket members at their lower portion form a base upon which the structure rests, and the upper portion has secured to it a leg member which has a hinge-d portion so that the structure may be folded, first the leg being folded back against the upper portion of the board, and then the lower portion of the display device being folded back upon the aforementioned leg and upper por-. tion of the board.
This display device which I have invented also has a center bracket hinged likewise, which serves to support the board. A pair of cross members are provided to make the structure substantially rigid. Also in my invention I contemplate the use of an expansible leg at the top portion of the board, which expansible leg may be pressed against the ceiling or other permanent portion of a structure in which it is desired to use my device. This expansible leg, of course, can then be retracted within the upper portion of the structure, and the lower portion of the display device folded upon the upper portion for storage or for carrying purposes.
In my invention I show:
In FIGURE 1 a standard type display rack and on the right I show the structure of my invention added as an auxiliary and in place.
:FIGURE 2 is a view of the structure of my device and shows the board and has portions broken away showing the support arms which run normal to the support legs and to the bars for supporting the upper portion of my structure.
In FIGURE 3 I show a side view of my invention and I show this device in place ready for use.
In FIGURE 4 I show the structure of my invention folded and adaptable to be carried.
In the drawings the same reference numerals refer to the same parts throughout the several views.
In one instance as illustrated, I have accomplished my invention. It is apparent, however, that other structures and devices similar to that which I have illustrated may be used and would comprise equivalents of the structure which I have illustrated.
3,087,624 Patented Apr. 30, 1963 "ice In my invention I show in FIGURE 1 a board member 10, having an upper portion 11, and being provided with legs such as 12 and 13. Fl" his auxiliary display device is shown mounted in FIGURE 1 adjacent to an ordinary shelving for displaying items. This device which forms my invention is further illustrated in FIGURE 2 wherein I show a board again indicated with the numerals 10 and 11, and the board is mounted upon support members 16 and 17, which are tied together by cross bars 18 and 19. The support members 16 and 17 are provided at their mid portions with hinges such as 20 and 21. The support board has a further hinge member indicated at 22, which is secured to the board by brackets 23 and 24. The support members 16 and 17 have a lower portion below the hinge which we have indicated as 25 and 26, tied together with cross bar 19. The support members 25 and 26 are provided with leg portions 27 and 28 respectively, upon which rubber suction cups may be applied such as 29. The upper portion of my board 11 supported by bar 16, has secured thereto a hinged support bracket 30 which has a double hinged member or support member indicated at 31 and 32 which pivots about point 33. The support member 30 may be folded down in the direction of the arrow indicated in FIGURE 3, so that the device may be placed out of the way and stored or carried until further use is required.
In FIGURE 4, I show the structure forming my invention in its folded position and available to be stored or to be carried or placed in a convenient place until further use is required.
One of the specific features of my invention is the provision of spaced holes in the board into which plugs or hooks may be inserted for carrying in or upon shelving or other devices upon which merchandise may be hung to be displayed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and useful and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
II. A display device of the type having a backboard into which attachments may be placed for securing shelving comprising, the combination of a pair of support members tied one to the other by a tie-bar, a second pair of support members for said board, tied one to the other by a tie-bar, said second set of support members hingedly connected to said first set of support members, and means for securing said members in a substantially upright position, said last named means comprising a foldable bracket having a supporting member adapted to be positioned against a wall at its one end.
,2. A device for displaying merchandise of the type having a display board into which holes may be formed for hanging merchandise, and/ or securing shelving thereto, including the combination of a pair of support members hingedly connected to a second pair of support members for said board, each of said boards being broken in the middle and adapted to move with said hinge and a tiemember connecting each of said support members, and a supporting hinged structure at the top of said second set of support members for holding the entire structure in substantially upright position.
