HARRIET N. EWING, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
GAME APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 330,972, dated November 2%, 1885.
Application filed September 24, 1885. Serial No. 177,972. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRIET N. EWING, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city and county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have inventeda new and useful Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to furnish a game apparatus for children; and my invention consists in the combination, with a box divided into suitably marked or numbered compartments and furnished with a handle, of a cord one end of which is secured to. the box or handle, and the other end of which is secured to a ball or weight, and a post the top of which is furnished with a depression for holding the ball or weight.
The accompanying drawing, which forms part of this specification, is aperspective View of my game apparatus, the sides of the box being broken away in places to more clearly illustrate its interior arrangement.
A is a box, which is divided by light strips into anumber of compartments, a, which are suitably marked by numbers,or by representations of flowers, birds, or animals. B is a handle secured to and projecting out from box A; G, apost Within box A, the top of which is bored or hollowed out to form a depression, 1).
Dis
a cord secured to the handle B or box A, and 3c E is a ball or weight secured to the free end of this cord.
In playing the game the ball or weight E is placed in the depression I) in the top of post 0 and the handle B is grasped in the hand. By a quick movement the ball or weight E is thrown from out the depression 1) into one of the compartments a of the box. The manner of counting is immaterial and can be arranged to suit the player or players. The weight E may be thrown successively into each compartment, into the corner compartments only, into the numbered compartments, or into the compartments containing the representations of flowers or other objects.
Having thus described my invention,I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- The combination of the box A, furnished with a handle, B, and divided into suitablymarked compartments a, and post 0, with a depression, I), in its top, and cord D with weight E, all substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
HARRIET N. EWING.
