HARNESS-BRIDLE SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 334,168, dated January 12, 1886.

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, MARTIN It. GooD, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Holland, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harness-Bridles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the saine, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and gures of reference marked there- Figure l of the drawings is a perspective view of my invention; Fig. 2, a detail view showing the means of attaching the braces to the blinders, and Fig. 3 a detail view of one end of the brow-band.

The present invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements in harness bridles, and has reference more particularly to my former patent, No. 328,773, dated October 20, 1885; and the object thereof is toimprove the means ot' attaching the braces to the blinders, and also to provide means by which the looped ends ofthe browband is strengthened. These objects I attain by the construction substantially as shown in the drawings, and hereinafter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings Ihave shown a harness-bridle substantially like that described in my former patent, with the additions of the improvements hereinafter described. The bridle consists of the usual check-straps, A, which come in contact with the horses head, and B the head-strap, both of which may be of any suitable construction and provided with suitable buckles, as in my former patent.

Packing-strips O may or may not be employed, as found desirable, and the braces D formed on the blinders E may be dispensed with, or may be of sufficient length to extend down over the lower buckles, a, and form a fastening therefor instead of the packingstrips, thus dispensing therewitlnth ese changes being made without affecting the object of my invention.

The braces F,which are preferably of metal, are suitably connected at their upper ends to the usual adj usting-strap,.G, and at their lower or opposite ends to the blinders E.

braces attached directly to the blinders, as in my former patent, I pivotally connect to the end of the braces two plates, @between for strengthening the leather at the point of attachment'to the braces, and also providing a rigid project-ion from the blinders for the movement of the pivotal end ofthe braces.

The loops c on the ends of the brow-band I are re-enforced by metal stays K, which extend around both sides of the loop, and are secured to the sides ofthe brow-band by rivets. The end of the loop being the part that generally tears away, it is strengthened at this point, thus preventing any injury by the strain thereon, as well as preventing the rosettes from cutting the front of the loop.

Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Lrtters Patent, is-

l. In a harness -bridle, the combination, with the blinders thereof, of the braces and means for pivotally attaching them to the blinders, consisting of clamping-plates pivoted to the braces and tongues of leather or other suitable material held between them, said ytongues being secured to the blinders, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

2. A- harness-bridle consisting of the check and head straps, the brow-band having loops at the ends reenforced by metal braces extending around the ends and sides thereof, the blinders, blinder-braces, and adjustingstrap, and means for connecting the braces to the blinders, consisting ofpivoted metal clamping-plates and tongues of leather held between them and secured to the blinders, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
