The trowel holster was made for the purpose of holding a trowel for the block or brick stone mason, as he has to lay his trowel down so many times in a days work. With this holster he can keep his trowel with him all day.

Referring to the drawing:

FIG. 1 is a front elevational view of a trowel holster embodying the invention;

FIG. 2 is a section on line 22 of FIG. 1; and

FIG. 3 is a section on line 33 of FIG. 1.

All parts of the trowel holsters are attached to the back plate 1 which rests on the hip the same as a gun holster: a belt 9 holds the back plate in place with two belt loops 8 on back side. The back plate is 14" in length. Directly in the center of the back plate is a A" slot 11 which is 10 /2 in length. This slot allows -a cup 2 with a trowel-receiving slot 2A to ride up and down the back plate by a very loose fitting bolt 7. Tension springs 4 are attached to back plate by screws 10 and to the cup 2 at the other end.

Part 3 is a clip to hold handle of trowel T in place. This is made to clip in and out like a spring to keep handle tight in place,

Patented Sept. 26, 1967 ice Part 5 are just clips /2" wide /2" deep to hold a string level for mason so they cant be lost. Part 8 is a loop into the belt to hold a hammer stone or brick hammer. Part 9 is the belt to hold trowel holster in place on his side.

What is claimed is:

A trowel holster comprising a back plate, means to attach the upper part of the plate to a persons waistbelt, an outwardly open spring clip mounted on and extending out from the upper part of the plate, a slot extending longitudinally of the plate, a cup mounted for vertical movement along the slot, means to restrain the cup for movement along the slot, an opening in the bottom of the cup, spring means connected to the cup and to the upper part of the plate whereby trowels of various sizes may be accommodated in the holster by locating the leading end of the trowel in the bottom opening of the cup and the handle within the spring clip.
