BABY-DRY-GIRDLE F'iied Aug. 17, 1966 INVENTOR D/ 'rk W17 /em Moi-nvfl'naar Wm. Me Corm/c/V United States Patent Claims This invention relates to waterproof shields for infants and more particularly a sanitary baby girdle.
It is therefore the main purpose of this invention to provide a sanitary baby girdle which is designed to keep the baby dry and in comfort.
Another object of this invention is to provide a sanitary baby girdle which keeps urine and faeces fro the skin of the baby.
Other object of this invention is to provide a sanitary baby girdle which considerably reduces the possibility of baby rash and is arranged to prevent any shifting or displacement of said girdle during its operative use.
Still another object of this invention is to provide a sanitary baby girdle which is inexpensive to manufacture, may be moderately priced, is of durable construction, safe to use, and provides maximum utility to the mothers.
Other objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, wherein a satisfactory embodiment of the invention is shown. However, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the details disclosed but includes all such variations and modifications as 'fall within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims.

FIGURE 1 is a vertical, transverse sectional view of the rear container;
FIGURE 2 is a central, longitudinally disposed sectional view taken vertically to the girdle;
FIGURES 3 and 4 are central, transverse and longitudinal vertically disposed sectional views, respectively, to the front pad, its container and the foam rubber layer in which the pad is embedded;
FIGURE 5 is a view similar to FIGURE 1 but showing in further detail the pad covering;
FIGURE 6 is a fragmentary detail showing of the fixed attachment of the rear end of the vertical belt;
FIGURE 7 is a fragmentary face view of the front end of the vertical strap and its detachable clasp;
FIGURE 8 is a detailed illustration of the adjustable strap connection between the front and rear pad members.
According to this invention, a sanitary baby girdle 10 is provided with a front container 11, preferably made of plastic material, and being provided with a layer of foam rubber 12. Another layer 13 of any suitable absorbant material is readily disposed within the cavity formed by container 11 and layer 12. The upper portion of container 11 is provided with an outwardly extending flexible strap 11' which is secured to the horizontally disposed, flexible belt 14 by means of a clasp member 15. In order to provide maximum flexibility and a-djusta-bility to the belt 14, provisions are made for a belt buckle 16 which may readily guide the length and contour of belt 14, then in operative use. As an additional measure this invention provides for an adjustable belt 18 having buckle 17 for securing girdle 10 to each leg of the baby.
Looking now at the drawing one will see that a rear section container 19' preferably made of plastic material, is provided with an inner layer of foam rubber 20. Container 19 also includes a recess 21 which directly communicates with a hole 22 generally positioned at anus of the baby. The upper portion of container 19 is provided with a flexible strap, 23 which is permanently attached at 24 to the belt 14. The containers 11 and- 19 are adjustably secured to each other by means of a strap 25 and an adjustable buckle 26.
It will also be noted that the front section container 11 is also provided with a generally cylindrical recess 13' which is adapted to receive genitalien of'a baby when said girdle 10 is in operative use. 1
In operation, clasp 15 is readily removed from the belt 14 and the layers of absorbant material are replaced with the new ones. Then'the containers 11 and 19 are again suitably secured on flexible belt 14 by means of the clasp member 15. Since all components comprising girdle 10 are made of plastic or rubber material the abovementioned device is easily washable.
What we now claim is:
1. A sanitary baby girdle comprising, in combination, a curved front section container, a layer of foam rubber material secured to the interior of said container, said interior of said container forming a hollow recess, and an interchangeable pad of porous material positioned within said recess, the outer portion of said pad being covered with a layer of non-absorbantmaterial for preventing babys skin from being exposed to undesirable fluids, a curved rear section container having a recess therein, an inner layer of foam rubber material within said container and said recess, a layer of porous material within said recess, means for adjustably securing said containers between the legs of a baby, a vertical belt for enclosing the Waist of said baby, a strap for securing said rear container to said belt, means for removably securing said front container to said belt and auxiliary belt means for adju'stably-afiixing each of said containers to the babys buttocks.
2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein said containers and said inner layers being provided with a plurality of miniature holes for admitting air therein.
3. The combination according to claim 1, wherein said securing means include an adjustable strap and buckle arrangement flexibly disposed between said containers.
4. The combination according to claim 1, wherein said means for removably securing said front container to said 'belt include a clasp member attached to said belt.
5. The combination according to claim 1, wherein said auxiliary belt means include an adjustable belt and buckle arrangement on each side of said containers.

Claims (1)

1. A SANITARY BABY GRIDLE COMPRISING, IN COMBINATION, A CURVED FRONT SECTION CONTAINER, A LAYER OF FOAM RUBBER MATERIAL SECURED TO THE INTERIOR OF SAID CONTAINER, SAID INTERIOR OF SAID CONTAINER FORMING A HOLLOW RECESS, AND AN INTERCHANGEABLE PAD OF POROUS MATERIAL POSITIONED WITHIN SAID RECESS, THE OUTER PORTION OF SAID PAD BEING COVERED WITH A LAYER OF NON-ABSORBANT MATERIAL FOR PREVENTING BABY''S SKIN FROM BEING EXPOSED TO UNDESIRABLE FLUIDS, A CURVED REAR SECTION CONTAINER HAVING A RECESS THEREIN, AN INNER LAYER OF FOAM RUBBER MATERIAL WITHIN SAID CONTAINER AND SAID RECESS, A LAYER OF POROUS MATERIAL WITHIN SAID RECESS, MEANS FOR ADJUSTABLY SECURING SAID CONTAINERS BETWEEN THE LEGS OF A BABY, A VERTICAL BELT FOR ENCLOSING THE WAIST OF SAID BABY, A STRAP FOR SECURING SAID REAR CONTAINER TO SAID BELT, MEANS FOR REMOVABLY SECURING SAID FRONT CONTAINER TO SAID BELT AND AUXILIARY BELT MEANS FOR ADJUSTABLY AFFIXING EACH OF SAID CONTAINER TO THE BABY''S BUTTOCKS.
