REGISTER-FRONT.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 344,640, dated June 29, 1886.

Application filed February 15, 1886. Serial No. 191,963.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, OHARLEs G. Doses, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Register-Fronts, of which the following is a specification.

My improvement consists of a registerfrontby which I intend the front open-work plate of a hot-air register or radiator-havin g sunken in it a recess or recesses of suitable shape and size to receive or support the feet of a person, the object being to furnish a register or radiator front formed in its open-work part with a support or receptacle for the feet.

In the accompanying drawings is represented a register front embodying my improvement. I

Figure 1 is a perspective View, and Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section of the same.

The plate is of the usual or suitable contour and size, and is cast, as usual, with an openwork pattern of some kind to furnish the apertures for the passage of the heated air. This open-work part, as seen, starting from the upper edge or border of the plate, slants rearwardly as it extends downward, so that at or (No model) receive and fit the heel of the shoe or foot.

Such a construction as this (conveniently embodied in a single casting) is to be preferred when the front plate is of contracted dimensions. In larger plates, however-Sn ch as the openwork plates of large registers or of radiatorst-he receiver may be sunken in such shape as to have the full contour of the foot or of a pair of feet,

Having described my improvement, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-

A register-front having sunken in its openwork portion a foot rest or recess, as and for the purposes hereinbefore set forth.
