GOLFING GLOVE I Filed June 12, 1969 INVENTOR. MICHAEL Skovflo u F I G. 3 BY United States Patent O1 3,559,212 GOLFING GLOVE Michael Skovron, 439 W. Arlington Road, Erie, Pa. 16509 Filed June 12, 1969, Ser. No. 832,694 Int. Cl. A41d 19/00 US. Cl. 2-161 5 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A golfers glove for the three finger control in the left hand guiding the club. The fingers of the glove have Velcro on their outside and an elastic flap having Velcro on both ends is attached to the glove at the base of the thumb and is attachable to the Velcro on the fingers. Thus the fingers may be held in closed grip position and the grip of the fingers controls the golf club.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION This invention relates to gloves and, more particularly, to gloves for use by golfers to improve their golf game.
REFERENCE TO PRIOR ART Patent 2,083,604 is an example of the prior art of golf gloves. This patent shows a glove with a strap and buckles used to reinforce the grip of the third and little fingers of the left hand.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the invention to provide an improved glove for golfers.
Another object is to provide a glove for golfers wherein three fingers of the gloved hand are held firmly to the palm for a better grip on the club.
Another object is to provide a glove with an elastic flap having Velcro for holding the hand in firm grip relation on the club.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a view of the golfers glove with the elastic flap disconnected as before use.
FIG. 2 is a view of the golfers glove with the elastic flap connected, holding the fingers firmly to the club.
FIG. 3 is a view of the golfers glove with the elastic flap removed and the gloved hand holding the club in a natural manner.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Now with more particular reference to the drawings, they show a golf club handle 20 with a head indicated at 30 in combination with a glove 18. The golf club handle 20 is wrapped with tape in a conventional manner and the glove shown is intended to be used on the left hand of the golfer, the reason being that the left hand is the hand which controls the club during the golf swing and the non-professional golfers fingers sometimes do not have enough strength to positively control the club.
The glove is shown with the conventional fingers, index finger 22 and thumb 19. The thumb 19 has a strip of Velcro attached to the base of it adjacent the palm and the strip of Velcro :10 is in alignment with the thumb 19 and extends generally parallel to the thumb 19 along the base of the palm at the side thereofremote from the fingers. The middle finger 11 and the little finger 13, as well as the ring finger 12 between the little finger and middle finger, each have a strip of Velcro fixed to them as shown and the elastic flap 2.1 has two spaced strips of Velcro 16 and 17 fixed to it. The elastic Patented Feb. 2., 1971 flap 21 is bifurcated at one end and has the legs 14 and 15 which are spanned by the strip of Velcro 16. The first strip of Velcro 10 is attached to the glove along a line generally parallel to the thumb 19. Second strip 16 and third strip 17 are generally perpendicular to first strip 10 when the flap is attached. The strip of Velcro 16 is intended to attach to the Velcro 11, 12 and 13 on the three fingers of the hand as shown. Thus when the user grips his club and fastens the strip of Velcro 17 to the strip 10, he may attach the strip 16 to the strips 11, 12 and 13 to help hold his hand in the preferred gripping position. Then he will grasp the club with his right hand and execute his usual swing. The Velcro material which may be used is of a type sold under the trademark VELCRO and may be of the type shown in Patent 2,717,437.
The bifurcated legs 14 and 15 hold the little finger 1-3 and middle finger 11 with equal tension.
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
