Scott ABSTRACT: A system for thwarting holdups and burglaries, having a plate connected to a switch which when stepped upon or otherwise moved will activate a prerecorded tape player, the tape player sending the name of the business, the number, street and section of the city through a transmitter which will emit a carrier wave through a receiver at a local police headquarters.

It is therefore a primary object of this invention to provide an alarm system which will be activated by a plate a microswitch, closing a circuit to a tape player having an endless tape which will repeat the name of the business, the number, the street and also the section of the city to the local police headquarters.
Another object of this invention is to provide an alarm system of the type described which will transmit the full recorded message to a receiver within police headquarters in order that the police will respond immediately to the emergency.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a holdup and burglar prevention system which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will become readily evident upon a study of the following specification together with the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIG. 1 is an enlarged cross-sectional view taken along the lines 1-1 ofFlG. 2;
FIG. 2 is a top plan view of the switch-activating plate of the present invention; and
FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram of the invention.
According to this invention, a holdup and burglar alarm system is shown to include a plate 11 which in normally flushed with the floor 12 or other surface and is covered with the same material (not shown).
A rod is securely fixed to the underside center of plate 11 and is slidable within cylinder 14 fixably secured to the upper extremity of microswitch 15. The wire 15 secured to microswitch 15 extends to the endless tape player 17 which is connected to a police-frequency transmitter 18 for a purpose which will herein after be described.
The projections 19 on plate 11 serve as a guide means against the walls 20 of the well 21 beneath floor 12. A plurality of cylinders 22 are fixably secured within well 21 and carry coil springs 23 which urge against the pistons 24 within cylinder 22 at one end and urges against the bottom of well 21 at the other end.
Pistons 24 are secured to rods 25 which are fixably secured to the underside 26 of plate 11. The rods 25 and their associated pistons 24 within cylinders 22 serve as guide means in conjunction with rods 13 within cylinder 14 of microswitch 15, thus keeping plate 11 in alignment at all times and the springs 23 serve as return means for the plate 11 to its full upward position which is flushed with floor 12 when not in use.
When a holdup is in progress, the intended victim experiencing it places his foot 27 upon the plate 11 which will urge rods 13 downwards against the microswitch 15, thus closing the circuit to the endless tape player 17 which by means of the police-frequency transmitter 18 will impart the location of the holdup and the name of the establishment to police headquarters, police headquarters being equipped with a receiver to receive the signal emitted by transmitter 18. This action subsequently causes the police in police headquarters monitoring the receiver to respond immediately to the holdup area.
It shall be noted that when the present invention is placed in strategic areas it will serve as a highly efficient alarm system. When a burglar activates the plate 11 the same function as heretofore described will occur, alerting the police so that they will immediately respond to the location where the burglary is taking place.
It shall further be noted that with obvious modifications, the present invention may be adapted to doors, windows, automotive vehicles, aircraft and the like.
What we now claim is:
l. A holdup and burglary-aborting system for establishments, vehicles, aircraft and the like, comprising a well and microswitch, a movable plate carried over said well, microswitch means carried within said well providing closing means for a circuit to an endless tape player and police radiofrequency transmitter, guide projections carried within said well and cylinder means carried within said well providing a continuous alignment of said tape regardless where the greatest pressure is applied, and central rod means within said well for activating said microswitch, wherein said microswitch is secured fixably to a cylinder, said cylinder providing guide means for rods secured to the underside of said plate to be activated and said rod means when pressure is applied to said plate descends downward upon a button of said microswitch, thus closing the circuit to said endless tape player and said police radiofrequency transmitter enabling a receiver turned to the same frequency in a police headquarters to be activated and thus alerting the police to the location of said holdup or burglary in progress, the intended holdup victim activating said plate and the burglar activating said plate when he is burglarizing the area said system is installed in.
2. The combination according to claim 1 wherein said cylinder of said microswitch provides alignment means for said plate when said plate is being depressed in conjunction with cylinders in each of the comers of said plate, said cylinders being secured to the bottom of said well over which said plate is positioned and spring means within said cylinders within said comers of said well urges against a piston connected to a rod to return said plate to its normal flushness with the surrounding surface of the place said system is incorporated and the other end of said springs urges against the bottom portion of said well and are depressed when weight is applied to said plate and said rods and pistons within said cylinder serve to align said plate regardless where the weight is applied between the area of said plate and thus the binding of said plate is prevented within the confines of said walls of said well.
3. The combination according to claim 2 wherein said plate for activating said system is provided with guide projections which are flushed with the outer periphery thereof, said guide projections acting in conjunction with said cylinders of said system to provide a smooth up and down motion for said plate, said projections slidably engaging the walls of said well of said system.
