The flexible elastic band member 33 has a depending lower end portion 36 which is inserted through and is slidably movable in an angularly but generally transversely extending slot or opening 35 in the body 24-25 of the upper and inner liner blouse or jacket section 21 of the flexible inner liner component 19 of the garment 15, and this lower end portion 36 of the flexible elastic band member 33 is attached, as by stitching 37, to the upper end portion of the inner liner section 38 of the trousers portion of the flexible inner liner component 19 of the garment 15.
As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the trousers portion 38 of i the inner liner component 19 and the lower and outer blouse section 21 of the inner liner component 19 are disposed in vertically spaced generally parallel coplanar relationship, and the lower end portion 36 of the flexible elastic band member 33 extends downwardly over the inner side of an inner flexible belt or waist band member 41 which extends between and bridges the space between the lower end portion of the upper and outer liner part or section 20 of the blouse or jacket portion of the flexible inner liner component 19 and the upper end portion of the inner liner part or section 383940 of the trousers portion of the flexible inner liner component 19 of the garment 15.
The upper end portion of the belt or waist band member 36 is infolded upon itself and is attached, as by stitching 42, to the lower end portion of the inner and lower part or section 21 of the blouse or jacket portion of the flexible inner liner component 19 and the lower end portion of the belt or waist band member 41 is attached, as by stitching 43, to the upper end portion of the inner 4 liner part or section 38 of the trousers portions of the flexible inner liner component 19 of the garment 15.
As is also shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the flexible outer fabric liner component 18 of the garment 15 includes an upper flexible fabric blouse or jacket section 44 having. a lower end ortion 45 which is infolded upon itself and attached together as by stitching 46.
The outer fabric liner component 18 of the new garment 15 includes a flexible, foldable and extensible fabric intermediate section, in the form of a flexible fabric member 47, which is normally disposed in an extended position, as in FIG. 5, but is adapted to be moved into a folded position, as in FIG. 6, when the wearer of the new garment bends forwardly from a normal upright position, as in FIG. 5, into a forwardly bent-over position, as in FIG. 6. This flexible fabric intermediate member or section 47 has an outer and normally lower end portion which is attached, as by the stitching 46, to the lower end portion of the flexible fabric outer liner section 44 of the blouse or jacket portion 16 of the garment 15, and the flexible, foldable and extensible intermediate fabric member or section 47 has an inner and normally upper end portion which is infolded upon itself and is attached, as by stitching 49, to the upper end portion 60 of a lower part or section 52 of the outer fabric liner component 18 of the garment 15. The lower portion of the part or section 52 forms the flexible outer fabric liner for the trousers portion 17 of the garment 15.
The new garment 15 includes a third flexible elastic interconnecting means, in the form of a flexible, elastic rubber or like band member which is arranged inwardly of the flexible fabric upper and outer blouse or jacket portion part or section of the flexible outer liner component 18 of the garment 15. This flexible elastic band member 50 has an upper end portion which is attached, as by stitching 51, to the flexible fabric upper and outer liner part or section 44 of the flexible outer liner component 18, and the flexible elastic band member 50 has a lower end portion which is attached, as by stitching 49, to the inner and normally upper flexible, foldable and extensible intermediate section 47 of the flexible fabric outer liner component 18 of the garment 15.
The new garment 15 also includes a fourth flexible elastic interconnecting means, in the form of a flexible elastic rubber or like band member 53, which has an upper end portion which is attached, as by the stitching 46, to the infolded lower end portion 45 of the upper and outer blouse or jacket portion of the flexible outer liner component 18 of the garment 15. This flexible elastic band member 53 is extended through and is slidably movable in an angularly extending slot or opening 59 which is formed in and extends through the section 60-52 of the flexible fabric outer liner component 18 of the garment 15, and the lower end portion of the flexible elastic band member 53 is attached, as by stitching 54, to the trousers portion of the section 52 of the flexible fabric outer liner component 18 of the garment 15.
The new garment 15 also includes a multi-ply or composite fabric layer belt or waist band member 55 which includes a plurality of fabric layers 57 having upper and lower end portions which are infolded upon themselves and stitched together, as at 57. This belt or waist band section 55 is also attached, at its inner surface, as at 58, to the lower section 52-60 of the flexible outer fabric liner component 18 of the garment 15.
USE AND OPERATION In the use of the new garment 15, as when it is used as a work suit, ski suit, hunting suit, sports suit, bobsledding suit, snowmobile suit, or for like purposes, the parts thereof are normally disposed in the relative positions in which they are shown in FIGS. 1 and 5, when the wearer is in upright position, as in FIG. 1. However, when the wearer bends forwardly, as, for example, into the forwardly bent-over position illustrated in FIG. 2,
the parts or sections of the new garment 15 assume generally the relative positions in which they are shown in FIG. 6, with such variations as are caused by the degree of bend and the exact position into which the body of the wearer bends or turns from a normal upright position, as in FIG. 1; it being noted, in this connection, that the parts and sections of the new garment 15 are shown in FIG. 6 turned ninety degrees (90) clockwise from the position in which they are shown in FIG. 2 so as better to compare the relative positions of the parts or sections, as shown in FIG. 6, with the relative positions in which the same parts or sections, as shown in FIG. 5, when the wearer of the new garment 15 is in a normal upright position as in FIG. 1.
Thus, by reference to FIG. 6 it will be noted that when the wearer of the new garment 15 bends forwardly from a normal upright position, as shown in FIG. 1, into the forwardly bent-over position shown in FIG. 2, the upper and inner liner blouse or jacket section 20 of the inner liner component 19 of the garment 15 yields or moves lengthwise of the body of the wearer, with the movement of the wearers body, relative to the lower and inner blouse or jacket section 21 of the inner liner component 19 of the garment 15 while, at the same time, the lower and inner blouse or jacket section 21 of the inner liner component 19 and the inner liner trousers section 38 of the flexible inner liner component 19 and the inner belt or waistband section member 41 move downwardly from the positions in which they are shown in FIG. into the position in which they are shown in FIG. 6. This relative movement of the parts 20213841 is made possible by the conjoint action of the first flexible elastic interconnecting means or flexible rubber band member 27, in conjunction with the second flexible elastic interconnecting means or flexible rubber band member 33', and the aforesaid relative movement is facilitated by the slidable movement of the body 36 of the second flexible elastic interconnecting means or flexible elastic rubber band member 33 across the outer surface of the inner belt or waist bad member 41 and the slidable movement of the flexible elastic band member 33-36 in the diagonally extending slot or opening in the lower and outer blouse or jacket section 21 of the inner liner component 19 of the garment 15.
At the same time, that is, as the wearer of the new garment 15 bends forwardly from a normal upright position, as in FIG. 1, into a bent-over position, as in FIG. 2, the flexible fabric section 60-52 of the outer liner component 18 of the garment 15, and the attached outer belt or waist band member 55, yieldably move downwardly on and relative to the body of the wearer, relative to the upper section 44 of the flexible fabric outer liner component 18 of the garment 15 from the position in which the parts are shown in FIG. 5 into the position in which the parts are shown in FIG. 6. This relative movement of the section 60-52 of the flexible fabric outer liner component 18 of the garment 15, and attached outer belt or waist band member 55, is made possible by the conjoint action of the third flexible elastic interconnecting means or flexible elastic band member 50, and the fourth flexible elastic interconnecting means or flexible rubber band member 53 which stretch or elongate during this operation, and the flexible, foldable and extensible intermediate fabric member 47 which folds downwardly upon itself during this operation from the position in which it is shown in FIG. 5 into the position in which it is shown in FIG. 6, while, at the same time, the fourth flexible elastic interconnecting means or flexible rubber band member 53 slidably moves through the angularly extending slot or opening 59 in the section 60 of the flexible outer fabric component 18 of the garment 15.
When the wearer of the new garment 15 returns from a forwardly bent-over position, as in FIG. 2, into a normal upright position, as in FIG. 1, the then stretched and elongated first flexible elastic interconnecting means or flexible rubber band member 27 returns the lower and inner blouse or jacket section 21 of the flexible inner linner component 19 of the garment 15 to its normal position of wear, as in FIGS. 1 and 5, and the then stretched and elongated second flexible elastic interconnecting means or flexible elastic band member 33-36 returns the inner liner section 38 of the trousers portion 17 of the garment 15, and the inner belt or waist band member 41, into their normal position of wear, as in FIGS. 1 and 5. During this movement, the body 36 of the flexible elastic band member 3336 slidably moves past the inner surface of the inner belt or waist band member 41 and moves slidably in and through the diagonally extending slot or opening 35 in the inner and lower blouse or jacket section 21 of the inner liner component of the garment 15.
At the same time, that is, as the wearer of the new garment 15 moves from a forwardly bent-over position, as in FIG. 2, into a normal upright position, as in FIG. 2, the then stretched and elongated third flexible elastic interconnecting means or flexible elastic band member 50 unfolds the flexible, foldable and extensible intermediate section 47 from its downwardly and inwardly folded position, as in FIG. 6, into its normal extended position, as in FIG. 5, and the then stretched and elongated fourth flexible elastic interconnecting means or flexible elastic band member 53 returns the section 52-60 of the outer fabric liner component 18 and attached outer belt or waist band member 55 from the lowered position in which these parts are shown in FIG. 6 into their normal position of wear, as in FIG. 5. During this operation the flexible elastic band member slidably moves through the slot or opening 59 in the section 52-60 of the outer fabric liner component 19 of the garment 15.
It will be noted that the relative positions of the various parts and sections of the garment 15, as shown in FIG. 6, conform generally to the relative positions which the parts or sections assume when the wearer of the new garment bends forwardly from a normal upright position into a forwardly bent-over position, as in FIG. 2. However, the relative positions of the parts and sections, as shown in FIG. 6, are merely illustrative and the exact positions of the parts and sections of the new garment will vary somewhat depending upon the particular position which the wearer assumes in bending or turning forwardly or sidewise from a normal upright position as in FIG. 1, and the construction and arrangement of the parts and sections of the new garment are such that they enable the garment 15 to conform to the position, needs, comfort and requirements of the wearer, without binding or discomfort, in any and all positions which the wearer may assume bending forwardly or sidewise from a normal upright position of use as in FIG. 1. I
It will thus be noted that the present invention provides a new and improved close-fitting, neat, attractive and warm garment for its intended uses, as set forth hereinbefore, embodying a flexible, fabric outer liner component and flexible, warm, heat-insulating inner liner component; each of which components includes a blouse or jacket portion and a trousers portion; a first, flexible, elastic means interconnecting the blouse or jacket portion and the rousers portion of the flexible, Warm, heat-insulating inner liner component; and a second flexible, elastic means interconnecting the blouse or jacket portion and the trousers portion of the flexible, fabric outer liner component of the garment so that in use both the inner liner component and the flexible, fabric outer liner component of the new garment will expand and readily conform to the body position and needs requirements of the wearer and without binding of the garment or discomfort to the wearer.
