It is an object of the present invention to provide a novel fixture for displaying textile products such as bedspreads.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a display fixture which coordinates display of selling stock and a sample display of the stock for easy access by customers while exhibiting the stock in a promotional manner.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a display fixture which is simple, reliable, and inexpensive.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
For the purpose of illustrating the invention, there is shown in the drawings a form which is presently preferred; it being understood, however, that this in vention is not limited to the precise arrangements and instrumentalities shown.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a pair of fixtures in accordance with the present invention mounted on a common base.
FIG. 2 is a sectional view taken along the line 2-2 in FIG. 1.
FIG. 3 is a sectional view taken along the line 3-in FIG. 2.
FIG. 4 is a sectional view taken along the line 4-4v in FIG. 2.
FIG. 5 is a sectional view taken along the line 55 in FIG. 2.
FIG. 6 is a partial perspectiveexploded view of'the support for the partitions on an enlarged scale.
Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein like numerals indicate like elements, there is shown in FIG. 1 a perspective view of a display fixture designated generally as 10. The fixture 10 includes a rectangular base 12 formed by upright members which may be laterally interconnected by brace members. The base 12 is provided with a plurality of levelers 14 to facilitate leveling the base on the store floor. In FIG. 1, two display units or fixtures l6 and 18 are mounted on the common base 12. The fixtures 16 and 18 are disposed alongside one another and facing in opposite directions. Each of the fixtures l6 and 18 are identical. Accordingly, only fixture 16 will be described in detail with corresponding primed numerals being provided for the corresponding structure on fixture 18.
Referring to FIGS. 2 and 5, it will be noted that the fixture 16 is provided with a bottom wall or floor 20 which rests on the base 12 and projects slightly therebeyond. That is, each of the fixtures 16 and 18 project beyond the periphery of the base 12 on all sides of the base 12. The fixture 16 includes end panels 22 one of which includes a drawer 24.
A side panel 26 is provided along the exposed side of the fixture 16in FIG. 1. The end panels 22 and the side panel 26 are connected at their lower end to the periphery of the floor 20 along three sides thereof. A side wall 30 is secured to the fourth side of the floor 20. See FIG. 5.
The side wall opposite wall 30 is defined by the side panel 26 and an interior side panel 28. A top wall 32 is supported by the side walls at a location below the upper edge of the side walls. Top wall 32 slopes from a first end of the fixture 16 to a second end of the fixture at an angle of approximately 20 with the horizontal. The fixture 16 includes end walls 34 and 36. It will be noted from FIGS. 2 and 5 that the panel 28 as well as the end walls 34 and 36 lie in a plane which cor-. responds to the peripheral contour of the base 12.
At said first end of the fixture 16, and below the top wall 32, there is provided a storage display bin 38. Bin 38 slopes at substantially the same angle as the top wall 32. Bin 38 is defined by bottom wall 40, upright back wall 42, top wall 32, side wall 30 and a transparent side wall 44. Wall 44 may be made of glass but preferably is made from a transparent plastic material such as Plexiglas, Lucite, etc. Stock to be displayed may be stored in bin 38. A sample of the product may be exhibited by the exhibition means 46 at said first end above the bin 38. The exhibition means 46 will exhibit a sufficient portion of the pattern of the product so as to inhibit customers from unpackaging-the product from the display rack to see the entire pattern.
The fixture 16 includes a display rack designated generally as 48. Display rack 48 is defined by the side walls, top wall 32, upper panel 50 and lower panel 52. See FIG. 2. Lower panel 52 is provided with a ticket holder 54 which may display the identification of the product, characteristics of the product, size of the product, price, etc.
As shown more clearly in FIGS. 5 and 6, the display rack 48 includes bottom rails 56 and 58 secured to the top wall 32 along the edges thereof. Side rails 60 and 62 are secured to the side walls above the rails 56 and 58. The rails 56 and 58 are provided with holes 64 at spaced points therealong. The rails 60 and 62 are provided with pins 66 at spaced points therealong and extending towards each other.
The display rack 48 is divided into a plurality of parallel compartments by means of removable partitions 68. The partitions 68 are preferably made from a transparent material such as the material referred to above in connection with side wall 44. A retainer 70 is secured to each end of each partition. As shown more clearly in FIG. 6, the retainers 70 are U-shaped in cross-section.
The pins 66 on the rails 60 and 62 are spaced apart by a sufficient'distance so as to receive the retainers 70 between adjacent pins. Each retainer 70 is provided with a pin 72 adapted to extend into one of the holes 64 on the rails 56 and 58. Hence, the partitions 68 may be disposed in a vertical plane as shown in solid lines in FIG. 2 or in a plane perpendicular to the top wall 32 as shown in phantom in FIG. 2.
A frame 74 having transparent windows made from a material such as the material of wall 44 is secured to the upper edge of the side wall defined by panel 26. The upper edge of frame 74 matches the upper edge of side wall 30.
The packaged product to be sold is positioned between the partitions 68. A sample of the product showing a sufficiently large portion to exhibit the pattern is exhibited by means 46. Additional sizes or colors of the product may be stored in bin 38 whereby customers may help themselves to the same if the particular color or pattern from between the partitions 68 has been sold out. Additional storage space for use by the sales person is provided by means of a drawer 24.
' The units or fixtures 16 and 18 are artistically arranged so as to face in opposite directions on the common base 12. In order to provide for ease of access by I customers and sales persons, the following dimensions for the fixture 16 have been found to be suitable: width 54 inches; length 60 inches; ticket holder 54 being approximately 27 inches from the floor; rack 48 having a length of approximately 52 inches; and bin 38 having a capacity or volume of approximately 7800 cubic inches. The dimensions may be varied as desired and are merely exemplary. The depth of the rack 48 is preferably 9 inches but increased or decreased as desired.
The fixture is preferably made from wood paneling with the grain running vertically on all surfaces except for the lower panels 52, wherein the grain is preferably horizontally disposed. The frame 74 as well as the rails 56-62 are preferably made from a lightweight, inexpensive, non-corrosive material such as aluminum or brass.
Thus, it will be seen that the display fixtures described above and illustrated in the drawings attains the objects set forth hereinbefore.
