A disinfectant, deodorizer and/or colorizer device for mounting in a toilet flush tank, comprising a covered container provided with a tubular member communicating with the container and having an open upper end extending above the top of the container and the water level in the flush tank for reception of disinfectant, deodorizer and/or colorizer chemicals which may be in tablet or other form. The tubular member is closed by a stopper having a hole therein through which extends a rod for pushing the chemical downwardly for passage into the water container. Filter means cover air and water inlets and outlets in the container cover to prevent passage of undissolved colorizer particles out of the container. Hanger means are provided for mounting the container in the flush tank.

MacGregor 57 1 ABSTRACT I A disinfectant, deodorizer and/or colorizer device for mounting in a toilet flush tank, comprising a covered container provided with a tubular member communicating with the container and having an open upper end extending above the top of the container and the water level in the flush tank for reception of disinfectant, deodorizer and/or colorizer chemicals which may be in tablet or other form. The tubular member is closed by a stopper having a hole therein through which extends a rod for pushing the chemical downwardly for passage into the water container. Filter means cover air and water inlets and outlets in the container cover to prevent passage of undissolved colorizer particles out of the container. Hanger means are provided for mounting the container in the flush tank.
6 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures DISINFECTANT DEODORIZER AND 'COLORIZER DEVICE FOR TOILET FLUSH TANKS This invention relates to a disinfectant, deodorizer and colorizer-device for toilet flush tanks or bowls, designed for removable mounting in the tank and for au tomatic discharge of water containing the disinfectant, deodorizer and/or colorizer chemical when the toilet is flushed with water in the tank.
- One of the objects of the invention is to provide a construction efficient for its intended purposes, having means for replenishing the disinfectant, deodorizer I and/or colorizer chemicals without disassembling of the device and with'minimal handling or contact therewith. This object is achieved by means of'a tubular member that communicates with the water container of the device at one side and extends upwardly above the container top and tank water level, the upper end of the tubular member being closed by a removable stopper having a hole therein. The chemcials, in tablet or other form, are fed into the tubular member. A push rod extends through the stopper hole, into the tubular member, for the purpose of pushing a chemical containing tablet through the tubular member into the water container for gradual dissolution.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for preventing particles of the colorizer substance from passing out of the container into the flush tank and thence into the toilet bowl where stainingmay occur. For this purpose, the device of my invention'is provided with filter means mounted on the container and covering air and water inlet and outlet openings. The filter means permit passage of water and dissolved chemicals but prevent passage of undissolved particles of colorizer substance.

In the embodiment of the invention shown in the drawing, a conventional toilet flush tank It) is mounted on a toilet bowl 11. The disinfectant, deodorizer and colorizer device comprises a water container con- A tubular member extends upwardly above the top of the cover 16 and has an open upper end 26 and a curved lower portion 27. The latter extends into the main body 15 of the container and communicates with the interior thereof. The upper end 26 is closed by a stopper 28 provided with a central hole 29. A rod 30 with knob 31 on its upper end extends through the hole 29 of the stopper 28. The-rod 30 is designed to carry or push a tablet 32 downwardly through the tubular member 25 toward the widened end portion 27 leading intothe body of water in the container. The tablet 32 has disinfectant, deodorizing and/or colorizing properties.
The cover member 16 is provided with an air and water inlet and outlet 35 surrounded on three of its margins with a filter retainer flange 36. A filter 37 is ins'ertible between opposite sides of the retainer flange 36. An air inlet 38 in the top of the cover 16 is also provided on three of its margins with a filter retainer flange 39 for reception of a filter 40. The filters 37 and 40 may be made of any suitable material such as wire screen 41, gauze 42 and filter paper 43, but wire or gauze, without the paper, may also be used. The function of the filters is to prevent particles of the colorizer element of the tablet 32 from entering the toilet bowl. If the tablet 32 contains only disinfectant and/or deodorizing elements, the filters are not required.
The hangers '2l may vary in construction to provide slotted or telescoping vertical members for adjusting their length. A .length of ,wire may be bent into U-form to engage the container 15 with the wire ends bent down to engage the flush tank wall. I
The tubular member 25 may be an integral part of the container 15 and be molded therewith, or be made of any suitable material and connected to the side of the container as shown. I
I claim:
1. A disinfectant, deodorizer and colorizer device for mounting in a toilet flush tank comprising a. a container provided with air and water inlet and 1 outlet openings for containing water .and chemicals', I
b. a tubular member having a lower portion mounted on and communicating with the interior of the container and an open upper end extending above the container,
c. an apertured stopper in said open end' of the tubular member, I I
d. a'push rod extending through the stopper aperture for pushing chemicals downwardlyin the tubular member for passageinto the container, u
e. filter means covering the air and water inlet and outlet openings, and
f. hanger means attached to the container for engaging the flush tank wall.
2 The device defined by claim 1, in which the container has a lower body member and an upper cover seated on the body member, and theair and water inlet and outlet openings are located in a side wall of the cover and in the top of the cover.
3. The device defined by claim vl,'in which the filter 7 means is fine gauge material which prevents chemical particles from passing out of the container.

Claims (6)

1. A disinfectant, deodorizer and colorizer device for mounting in a toilet flush tank comprising a. a container provided with air and water inlet and outlet openings for containing water and chemicals, b. a tubular member having a lower portion mounted on and communicating with the interior of the container and an open upper end extending above the container, c. an apertured stopper in said open end of the tubular member, d. a push rod extending through the stopper aperture for pushing chemicals downwardly in the tubular member for passage into the container, e. filter means covering the air and water inlet and outlet openings, and f. hanger means attached to the container for engaging the flush tank wall.
2. The device defined by claim 1, in which the container has a lower body member and an upper cover seated on the body member, and the air and water inlet and outlet openings are located in a side wall of the cover and in the top of the cover.
3. The device defined by claim 1, in which the filter means is fine gauge material which prevents chemical particles from passing out of the container.
4. The device defined by claim 1, in which the air and water inlet and outlet openings are surrounded on at least two sides by a flange on the container for reception of the filter means.
5. The device defined by claim 1, in which the tubular member is connected to a side wall of the container and extends upwardly adjacent said wall.
6. The device defined by claim 1, in which the push rod has a knob on its upper end which serves as a handle and prevents the upper end from passing through the apertured stopper.
