Abstract

A paint saver for artists'' use adapted to be used with a palette having spaced paint regions thereon comprising a hollow cup-like member with a peripheral flange surrounding an opening; and adhesive means disposed on the flange for detachably securing said member to the palette with the opening in contact with the palette and surrounding at least one of the regions.

The excess paint if left on the palette will dry up and cannot be reused so that the excess paint is normally removed from the palette and thrown away.

SUMMARY. OF THE INVENTION In my invention each region can be covered by a ho]- low cup like member securable removably to the palette. The member which is transparent to allow the user to see the color of the paint before removal has an opening in contact with the palette and surrounding the region. The member carries cork impregnated with linseed oil whereby the paint can be kept fresh and usable for several days whereby the paint is no longer wasted.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to FIGS. 1-4, palette carries spaced regions carrying globs 12 of differently colored paint.

Each glob can be covered when not in use, in accordance with my invention, to prevent drying and caking. To this end, each glob is covered by a transparent plastic cup like hollow member 14 having a flat rectangular opening 16 surrounded by a peripheral flange 18.

A double faced adhesive layer 20 or other means enables the member to be detachably secured to the palette with the opening in contact with the palette and surrounding the glob. The top flat rectangular portion of the member is parallel to the palette. Secured to the inner surface of this portion is a flat thin rectangular sheet 22 of cork. The cork can be impregnated with linseed oil. The oil atmosphere enveloping the glob keeps it fresh and usable.

While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered as limiting its actual scope.

I claim:

1. A paint saver adapted to be used with a palette having spaced paint regions thereon comprising:

a hollow cup like member with a peripheral flange surrounding an opening; and

adhesive means disposed on the flange for detachably securing said member to the palette with the open ing in contact with the palette and surrounding at least one of said regions;

wherein the top portion of the member when in position on the palette is essentially parallel thereto, the inner surface of said top portion being covered with a layer of cork.

2. The saver of claim 1 wherein said cork layer is impregnated with linseed oil.

3. The saver of claim 2 wherein said member is clear plastic.

Claims (3)

1. A paint saver adapted to be used with a palette having spaced paint regions thereon comprising: A HOLLOW CUP LIKE MEMBER WITH A PERIPHERAL FLANGE SURROUNDING AN OPENING; AND ADHESIVE MEANS DISPOSED ON THE FLANGE FOR DETACHABLY SECURING SAID MEMBER TO THE PALETTE WITH THE OPENING IN CONTACT WITH THE PALETTE AND SURROUNDING AT LEAST ONE OF SAID REGIONS; WHEREIN THE TOP PORTION OF THE MEMBER WHEN IN POSITION ON THE PALETTE IS ESSENTIALLY PARALLEL THERETO, THE INNER SURFACE OF SAID TOP PORTION BEING COVERED WITH A LAYER OF CORK.

2. The saver of claim 1 wherein said cork layer is impregnated with linseed oil.

3. The saver of claim 2 wherein said member is clear plastic.
