Abstract

Adhesive binding folder for binding loose sheets with two outside enclosing covers, joined to each other by a back strip which carries a double self adhesive layer against which the narrow rear edges of the bound inner sheets are positioned. The layer includes a removable strip to expose the adhesive and thereby adhere to the sheets. An inner protective sheet for the purpose of attachment penetrates with a narrow margin into the contact interface of the self adhesive layer. Said sheet serves to cover the self-adhesive layer laid bare by pulling out individual sheets.

7 SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to an adhesive binding folder with two outside enclosing covers, joined to each other by a back strip. The strip carries a self-adhesive layer against which the narrow rear edges of the bound inner sheets are positioned. The layer includes a removable strip to expose the adhesive and thereby adhere to the sheets. The conventional back strips connecting the enclosing covers consist of relatively thick material. This is necessary for applying a sufficiently thick self-adhesive layer to the back strip. However, inconvenience in folding and adjusting of the back strip to the narrow edges of the sheets is usually encountered.
Unfortunately, pliable back strips of thinner material do not possess the-required amount of a thinner adhesive coating, so that the los ely bound sheets are not firmly retained.

The present invention suggests a self-adhesive layer of the back strip formed double'between the edges of the enclosing covers facing each other by means of a transfer strip adhesively secured in this zone.
The outer edgesof the twofold adhesive layer are spacedfrom the opposing parallel edges of theenclosing covers and secured thereto.
The invention further suggests a-protective sheet proleaf, which for the purpose of attachment penetrates with a narrow margin into the contact interface of the self-adhesive layers. This inner protective leaf serves to cover the self-adhesive layer laid bare by pulling out individual sheets to prevent theflat adhesion of the sheet left topmost. Thin plastic foil is particularly suitable as material for the inner protective leaf. The secure contact of theflat margin of the inner protective leaf with the self-adhesive layer of the back strip exposed by the tearing out of individual leaves is expedited by giving an electrostatic charge to the inner protective leaf of plastic foil.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS The invention will now be described by way of examplewith reference to thedrawings in which FIG. 1- is an elevation of the adhesive binding folder according to the first embodiment of the invention;

The invention further envisions an inner protective sheet made of a thin plastic foil.
The invention consists in an adhesive binding folder with two outside enclosing'covers interconnected by a back strip having an inward self adhesive layer against which are applied't he thin rear edges of the bound inner leafs.
The invention produces an adhesive binding folder whose back strip determined by the structural height of thin material ensures a secure bond with the individual sheets held by it. Despite the thinness of the back strip FIG. 5 is a section view through the adhesive binding folder with individual leaves emplaced;
FIG. 6 is a second form of embodiment according to FIG. 3 incorporating an inner protection leaf;
FIG. 7 is a section view of an adhesive binding folder provided -withan inner protection leaf and bound sheets; and v FIG. 8 is similar to FIG. 7 with individual sheets partly removed. I
In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 5 the adhesive binding folder includes enclosing covers land 2 interconnected by a back strip 3; The, latter is inwardly provided with a self-adhesive coating 4.
In the portion between the parallelly aligned opposing edges 1 and 2' of the enclosing covers 1 and 2, a transfer strip 5 is secured over the self-adhesive layer 4 of the back strip 3. This transfer strip 5 consists of a carrier strip 7, one side of which is provided with a coating of silicone 6. A second adhesive layer 8 is arranged upon the said silicone layer 6.
The secondary adhesive layer 8 is deposited against the self-adhesive layer 4 of the back strip. The second adhesive layer 8 is adjusted to the back strip 3 to dispose the outer margins 8 of the adhesive layer 8 a distance x from the opposing edges 1' and 2 of the enclosing covers 1 and 2.
To bind a stack of sheets made up of individual leaves 9 the carrier strip 7, provided with the silicone layer 6, is removed while the second adhesive strip 8 maintains its bond with the self-adhesive layer 4. In this way, a
double self-adhesive layer is obtained on the back strip 3 in the zone between the opposing edges 1 and 2' of the enclosing covers 1 and 2, the said layer entering into an intimate bond with. the narrow rear edges 9' of the individual leaves 9.
Owing to the space 1:, the binding-in of the individual leaves 9 is made easier. Further, this space 1:, which is at least as wide asthe thickness measurement of the enclosing cover 1 or 2, facilitates the folding of the adhesive bindingfolder.
I The embodiment shown in FIGS. 6 to 8 incorporates an inner protective leaf 10. This inner protective leaf, made of a thin plastic foil, projects with its narrow margin into the contact gutter F of the two selfadhesive layers 4 and 8..Once the carrier strip 7 has been pulled back, the second adhesive layer becomes attached'to the adhesive layer 4 and to the margin 10' of the inner protective leaf 10. Accordingly, the individual leaves 9 can be brought into adhesive bond with the exposed double adhesive layer.
If, beginning with FIG. 7, individual leaves 9 are withdrawn from the adhesive binding folder by being pulled off from the self-adhesive layer 8, the self-adhesive layer 4 will be partly' exposed. To prevent this from entering into a flat bond with the topmost individual sheet, the inner protective leaf 10 covers the exposed self-adhesive layer see FIG. 8. The secure contact of the sectional area of the inner protective leaf 10 with the bared self-adhesive layer may be expedited by an electrostatic charge upon the inner protective leaf '10,
which is made of thin plastic foil.
What I claim is:
1. An adhesive binding folder comprising: a backing strip; a first coating of self-adhesive material having a first surface, said coating having a substantially uniform thickness and being attached to said backing strip on one surface thereof; two outside enclosing covers which are directly attached to a second surface of said first adhesive coating opposite said backing strip so as being disposed exclusively in the area between the two outside covers whereby individual leaves can be attached to said second adhesive coating between said covers and the total thickness of adhesive-being greater in the area covered by said second coating than in the area covered only by said first coating; a carrier strip having a silicone coating on one surface thereof and being attached to said second adhesive coating along the surface having said silicone coating on the side opposite said backing strip and capable of being easily removed from said second coating, whereby the individual leaves can then be attached to said second coating;
. and an inner protective sheet having an edge zone extending along one of said elongated margins, said zone being interposed between said first adhesive coating and said second adhesive coating, said inner protective sheet being .arranged so as to cover at least a portion of the outersurface of said second adhesive coating for covering adhesive exposed by removal of individual leaves.
2. Adhesive binding folder as set forth in claim 1, wherein said second adhesive coating is spaced from each of said covers by a predetermined distance, which is at least equal to the thickness ,of said covers, when the covers are in an open position.
3. Adhesive binding folder as set'forth in claim 1 wherein said inner protective sheet is made of a thin plastic foil.

Claims (3)

1. An adhesive binding folder comprising: a backing strip; a first coating of self-adhesive material having a first surface, said coating having a substantially uniform thickness and being attached to said backing strip on one surface thereof; two outside enclosing covers which are directly attached to a second surface of said first adhesive coating opposite said backing strip so as to be attached to said one surface of said backing strip by said first adhesive coating, said covers being attached to opposite elongated margins of said backing strip leaving adhesive exposed in the central area of the strip between edges of the covers; and a second coating of self-adhesive material of a substantially uniform thickness covering only a portion of said first adhesive coating and having one entire surface attached to said first adhesive coating, said second adhesive coating being disposed exclusively in the area between the two outside covers whereby individual leaves can be attached to said second adhesive coating between said covers and the total thickness of adhesive being greater in the area covered by said second coating than in the area covered only by said first coating; a carrier strip having a silicone coating on one surface thereof and being attached to said second adhesive coating along the surface having said silicone coating on the side opposite said backing strip and capable of being easily removed from said second coating, whereby the individual leaves can then be attached to said second coating; and an inner protective sheet having an edge zone extending along one of said elongated margins, said zone being interposed between said first adhesive coating and said second adhesive coating, said inner protective sheet being arranged so as to cover at least a portion of the outer surface of said second adhesive coating for covering adhesive exposed by removal of individual leaves.
2. Adhesive binding folder as set forth in claim 1, wherein said second adhesive coating is spaced from each of said covers by a predetermined distance, which is at least equal to the thickness of said covers, when the covers are in an open position.
3. Adhesive binding folder as set forth in claim 1 wherein said inner protective sheet is made of a thin plastic foil.
