Abstract

Device for practicing gymnastics using a rectangular platform with two spaced supports mounted at the underside. Rollers are mounted on the supports supporting the platform and two spaced side handles are mounted on the upper side of the platform. The supports are two parallel stringers mounted on the platform adjacent two of its sides with the rollers mounted at the ends of the stringers. The handles are two arched bridges having a straight central part mounted on the platform at their free ends. A concave seat is placed on the platform having attachments thereunder to be inserted into openings in the platform.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to a device for practicing gymnastics; its constitution and operation are extremely simple, yet it is possible to effect a multiplicity of exercises sufficient for developing, preserving, strengthening, correcting and recovering the body in all or in part.

The device of the invention is of the portable type, thus enabling its use wherever the user wishes.

There are innumerable portable gymnastic devices which have the drawback of serving for one exercise only, or a reduced number thereof, or because the characteristics of the exercise or exercises which can be effected apply to trained gymnasts or else they serve only for initiation in the practice of gymnastics.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The device of the present invention permits on the one hand a diversity of exercises whereby a full course of formative, training and corrective gymnastics, as well as recreational and educational games can be performed. At the same time this device can be utilized by persons being initiated in the practice of gymnastics in order to carry out the same, simple exercises to keep physically fit, to perserve and improve the figure, etc. At the same time it can beused by experienced gymnasts, since exercises requiring previous training and strength and flexibility for practicing other sports can be performed.

According to the invention, the device is constituted by a platform which can preferably be constituted by a wooden, plastic or similar rectangular platform. Two reinforcing supports or ribs are situated underneath the platform and have revolving wheels for supporting the ensemble. The wheels allow the device to move in all directions for carrying out the exercises. On its upper side the platform has two side handles which serve as a support for the user of the device.

The indicated supports can consist of two parallel stringers affixed to the platform near two of its side rims, each support having the aforesaid wheels at its ends. These supports simultaneously serve for mount ing the wheels and to add solidity to the platform.

The upper handles consist of two arched grips shaped as bridges, the central parts of which are straight and which are afiixed to the platform by their free ends. The central part is straight in order to prevent the user from sliding on the handles. This gymnastic device has an auxiliary seating component.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS There follows a detailed description of the device, with reference to the attached drawings, in which the invention is shown by way of non-restrictive example in which:

FIG. 4 is a perspective of an auxiliary seat.

FIG. 5 is a front elevation similar to that in FIG. 2, with the seat of FIG. 4 installed.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION As can be seen in the drawings, the device has a rectangular shaped platform I, mounted on two side supports 2 each consisting of a stringer affixed to the platform in the vicinity of one of its shorter sides. The supports 2 have revolving wheels 3 positioned the opposite ends thereof to enable the ensemble to move in all directions. On the upper side of the platform '1, there are two handles 4, located over the supports 2. These handles, as can best be seen in FIG. .3, adopt the shape of a bridge, the central part being straight to enable gripping, depending on the exercise to be performed.

The handles can be equipped with a threaded pin for affixing at their extremes. The pin is inserted in openings made in the platform 1 and supports 2, and retained by means of a nut underneath, or merely by making holes in the platform 1, and support 2, in which the extremes of the handles are inserted. 1

The handles 4 may also be placed in different positions, for which it suffices to proportion the platform I and length of the handles to place them in the position shown in FIG. 1, or else next to the other sides of platform 1. In this latter event it suffices that the distance between adjacent two openings be the same.

This device permits all manner of exercises to be carried out; for example, by resting the hands on the floor and placing the feet on the platform 1, for bending and stretching the body.

Also, by kneeling on the floor and gripping the handles 4, other exercises may be performed, or by sitting on the platform 1, or in other positions. 1

For the user to situate himself on the platform, a seat can be installed as shown in perspective in FIG. 4. This seat has an arched surface 6, from the lower side of which attaching means 7 emerge.

The seat may be put in place by inserting the attaching means 7 in openings 8 of the platform 1, further resting on the handles 4. Thus total stability is achieved.

I claim:

1. A device for practicing gymnastics, said device comprising:

a horizontally positioned rectangular platform having opposite parallel edges;

two supports parallelly attached to the underside of said platform adjacent two of said opposite parallel edges thereof, said supports extending along the entire lengths of said two opposite parallel edges;

rollers mounted on opposite ends of each of said two supports; and two parallelly mounted gripping handles attached to the upper side of said platform, each of said handles comprising an arched bridge having a straight horizontal central portion and vertically extending free ends, said handles extending along substantially the entire length of said two opposite parallel edges, each of said handles being attached to said platform with the central portion thereof extending above and parallel with one of ,said supports, said free ends of each of said handles extending through said platform and the corresponding support positioned thereunder.

Claims

1. A device for practicing gymnastics, said device comprising: a horizontally positioned rectangular platform having opposite parallel edges; two supports parallelly attached to the underside of said platform adjacent two of said opposite parallel edges thereof, said supports extending along the entire lengths of said two opposite parallel edges; rollers mounted on opposite ends of each of said two supports; and two parallelly mounted gripping handles attached to the upper side of said platform, each of said handles comprising an arched bridge having a straight horizontal central portion and vertically extending free ends, said handles extending along substantially the entire length of said two opposite parallel edges, each of said handles being attached to said platform with the central portion thereof extending above and parallel with one of said supports, said free ends of each of said handles extending through said platform and the corresponding support positioned thereunder.
