0. W.-- BENNETT. PICTURE HOLDING ATTAOHMENT FOR BADGES, 6w. Patented Apr. 8, 1890.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ORSON IV. BENNETT, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
PICTURE-HOLDING ATTACHMEN T FOR BADGES, 80c.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 425,201, dated April 8. 1890.
Application filed November 13, 1889. Serial No. 330,110- (No model.) i
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, ORSON WV. BENNETT, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Philadel'phia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Picture and Ornament Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as to enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in picture and ornament holders, and is especially designed for combination with badges, watch-cases, and the like.
The invention consists in the combination with a badge-plate or the outside of awatchcase or other like base, of a removable beveled ring and a bezel of like means for grasping and holding a photograph or other pic-- ture or ornament.
I11 the drawings, Figure 1 is a section, and Fig. 2 is an elevation, of my invention as applied to a badge. Figs. 3 and 4 are similar views as applied to the outside of a watchcase or locket, and Fig. 5 is a view of a badge having a hinged bezel or cap.
A is the plate of the badge or case, made in any approved way, and a is a beveled ring soldered or otherwise removably attached to said plate. WVith this ring a, I combine an ordinary bezel or ring I) by springing it into place in the usual way. This bezel serves as the frame or holder for a photograph, picture,
or other ornament, as (1. Obviously the pic- 'ture, ornament, or other memento may be protected by a glass cover in a well-known way.
According to my invention articles-such as badges, watches, &c.-already in use may be rendered a convenient repository of a picture or ornament or other memento, and when the owner wishes to change or dispense with the picture or ornament the holder is readily removed byheat, leaving the article in its original condition, and the ring and bezel may be readily applied to a different article, if desired.
As shown in Fig. 5, the bezel is marked 1), and, instead of being an open frame, is a closed cap, in which'the ornament may be contained, and the outside of this cap maybe engraved with the owners name.
Having now described myinvention, what I claim isv A picture-holding attachment for badges or other ornamental articles of personal Wear, consisting of a beveled ring a, detachably connected with the badge or article, and a bezel to be held by said ring for holding and protecting a picture or other ornament or memento, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ORSON W. BENNETT.
