Be it known that 1, JOHN B. ABLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Akron, in the county of Summit and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in'Corn-Eradicators, of which the following is a specification.

My invention has relation to devices for the curing or eradication of corns or similar ex-.

crescences on the human foot.

The object of my invention is to produce a sack-like structure for inclosing the member on which the corn is situate and to make the covering or inclosing sack self-retaining, to the end that it may not be unintentionally removed by the movement of the foot during the ordinary exercises thereof; and a further object is to so shape the sack-like covering that it will contain, if desired, a pledget of medicated cotton or like compress in a desired part with a View to applying treatment to any particular portion of the member inclosed by the sack-like body.

To the aforesaid objects my invention consists in the peculiar and novelconstruction,

arrangement, and combination of parts hereinafter described and then specifically pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.

In the accompanying drawings, in which similar reference-numerals indicate like parts in the different figures, Figure 1 is an outline sketch of the human foot with my improved appliance in position thereon, and Fig. 2 a perspective view of my improved appliance.

My device consists, essentially, of a sacklike body 1, of vulcanized rubber or similar material, terminating at the open end in a rolled rim 2 for the purpose of adding strength to that end. Extending from the open end is a leaf-like extension 3, which is usually connected to the sack portion 1 either by vulcanization or a strong cement. At a desired place in the sack-like body is a bulge 4:, which consists of a raised portion of the general contour of the sack-body with a view of preventing pressure 011 any desired place on the member on which this device is used.

This sack-like body is preferably made by what is known as the dipping process, which consists of a series of repeated dippings in a siccative solution of rubber, followed by a curing-bath,which produces a film-like pouch. The under surface of the extension 3 is coated with an adhesive compound similar to surgeons plaster to cause it to adhere to a selected part of the human foot.

This device is capable of a number of uses, among which are to inclose a too for the purpose of causing a profuse sweating for a number of days with a view to softening the corn to facilitate its ready removal, or it may serve as a supporting-bandage to sustain a medicated compress of cotton or similar material over a corn or a diseased portion of the toe, in which use the cotton is placed over the corn or diseased part and the bulged-out portion L is placed to rest over the compress.

It will be noted that the general contour of the sack-like body is substantially of the correct contour to inclose a normal toe, and thereby prevent undue strain to any portion which would attend the use of an ordinary tubular-shaped body of rubber.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is 1. A sack-like body composed of suitable material having a leaf-like extension, said leaf-like extension forming with said sacklike body a unitary article, and means to cause said leaf-like extension to adhere to a desired portion of the human body.

2. A sack-like body composed of a suitable material having a leaf-like extension to attach it to'a portion of the human body and a bulged-out portion of said sack to inclose when desired a medicated compress on the member to be inclosed.

3. A sack-like body composed of a suitable material provided with a bulged-out portion situated thereon to prevent pressure on a desired portion of the member to be inclosed by the sack-like body in combination with a leaflike extension from said sack-like body capable of being attached to some portion of the human body with a View to sustain said device.
