PATENT OFFICE.
oHARLEs GOSLING, F BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO JOSEPH BULOVA, on NEW YORK, N. Y.
FINGER-*RING.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent NO. 733,029, dated. July 7 1903-.
Application filed September 8, 1902. Serial No. 122,454. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, CHARLES GOSLING, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful. Improvements in Finger Rings, of
-' which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a finger-ring which is so constructed that the stone set into the head may be readily removed and interchanged with other stones.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a front view of my improved finger-ring;
. than the recess and extends beyond the same into the opening of the head in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the ring to form a removable supporting-shoulder for the stone 1). The spring a has a pair of perforated or slitted inwardly-projecting ends 0, adapted to be engaged by a pair of pincers, by means of which the spring may be inserted or removed.
To assemble the parts, the stone 1) is fitted into the head, and then the spring to is inserted into the recess a underneath the stone, so as to securely hold the latter in position.
To remove the stone, the spring is contracted by drawing its ends together, so that the spring can be taken out of the recess and the stone can be unseated.
It will be seen that by my invention the stone is securely attached and that it may be readily removed or interchanged.
What I claim is- 1. A finger-ring provided with a recessed head, a U-shaped spring within the recess in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the ring, and an ornament supported upon the spring, substantially as specified.
2. A finger-ring provided with a recessed head, a U-shaped spring having inwardlyextending perforated ends Within the recess in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the ring, and an ornament supported upon the spring, substantially as specified.
Signed by me at New York city, New York, this 6th day of September, 1902.
CHARLES GOSLING.
