WILLIAM S. H. HEERMANS, OF TOWANDA, PENNSYLVANIA.
SNOW-PLOW.
SPEGIFIUATIQN forming part of Letters Patent No. 745,608, dated December 1, 1903.
Application filed November 17, 1902. Serial No. 131,724. (No model.)
To all whom, it may'concer'n:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM S. H. Hana MANS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Towanda, in the county of Bradford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Snow-Flows, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accom panying drawings, forming a part hereof.
My invention has relation to improvements in snow-plows; and it consists in the novel arrangement and combination of parts more fully set forth in the specification and pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the plow, showing application thereof. Fig. 2 is a side elevation. Fig. 3 is a rear elevation. Fig. 4: is a front elevation, and Fig. 5 is a top plan thereof.
The object of my invention is to construct a snow-plow which can either be operated by hand or may be coupled to any vehicle-such as a car, locomotive, wagon, and the like-the coupling thereof to such vehicles being effected in any suitable mechanical manner.
A further object is to construct a plow which will be simple, easy to manipulate, effective, and one possessing further and other advantages better apparent from a detailed description thereof, which is as follows:
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a vertical forwardly-projecting center board, from which diverge on either side the inclined shares 2, having a continuous front straight I cutting edge 3 and terminating at the upper end in inclined outwardly deflected and converging unloading-scrolls 4. The shares are bers are in the form of parallel runners 6, the
bases of the runners and the edge 3 being disposed in the same plane, Fig. 2. Thefrnme is provided with an inclined handle-bar 7. The center board parts the snow as the plow advances, the shares'gathering it up, and the scrolls unloading or throwing it on either side of the plow.
As stated above the device may be placed in advance of a car, wagon, locomotive, or other vehicle without undergoing any special modification of construction. 1
Having described my invention, what I claim is-- V A snowplow comprising a vertical forwardlyprojecting center board, diverging upwardly-inclined shares on either side thereof, and removed a suitable distance rearward from the front vertical edge of said center board and having a front-continuous lower cutting edge intersecting the center board at WILLIAM s. n. HEERMANS.
