To all who/rt it may concern:

Be it known that I, VIRGIL (J. BRANNON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sweetwater, in the county of Nolan and State of Texas, have invented anew and useful Pistol- Case, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to holsters or scabbards for side-arms, and more particularly to novel means for attaching the same to the waistband, pocket, or other portion of the wearing-apparel of a person.

The object of the invention is to provide a fastening device in the form of a supporting loop or clasp designed to be permanently attached to the holster or Scabbard, said loop or clasp being provided with safety devices adapted to engage the waistband of the trousers and prevent the holster from becoming accidentally detached.

The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described. illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended, it being understood that various changes in form, proportion, and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.

In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this invention, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a holster having my improved fastening device applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view showing the manner of attaching the same to the waistband. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the fastening dctached.

Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawings.

The holster or pistol-case 5 may be of any desired construction and formed of leather or other suitable material. Secured to the rear side of the holster in any suitable manner, as by rivets 6, is a carrier-plate '7, preferably stamped from a single piece of metal and formed with longitudinallydisposed arms 8 and laterally-extending arms 9, the latter embracing the holster and reinforcing the mouth thereof, as shown. The arms 8 are bent ing provided with terminal openings 9 and inwardly-extending hooks or prongs 10, which extend parallel with the arms Sand engage the waistband 11. as shown. Rotatably mounted in the openings 9 are buttons 12, the shanks 13 of which are bent laterally in the same plane with the hooks 10 to form prongs 14: and which in conjunction with said hooks serve to lock the supporting loops or clasps to the waistband. The shanks of the buttons 13 are slightly longer than those of the hooks 10, so as to permit the former to be rotated until the prongs 14 of the buttons are brought under and in alinement with the hooks 10, in which position they may be readily introduced in the waistband.

In practice the waistband 11 is introduced between the ends of the supporting-loops or spring-arms 8 and the buttons 13 rotated until the prongs 14 and hooks 10 are in alinement, as clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. The practically solid prongs thus formed are inserted from the inside of the waistband through the trousers, and the buttons 13 turned a half-revolution, which looks the supporting-loops to the waistband, and thereby effectually prevents accidental displacement of the holster.

\Yhile I have shown the holster fastened to the waistband of the trousers, it is obvious that the same maybe attached to the hippocket, to a belt, or to any article of wearingapparel desired.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is- 1. The combination with a holster, of a carrier-plate secured thereto and embracing the mouth of the holster, said plate being provided with a supporting-arm having angularly-bent prongs for insertion through the article to which the holster is to be attached one of said prongs being revoluble with respect to the other.

2. The combination with a holster, of a carrier plate having laterally-extending arms adapted to embrace the mouth of the holster,

said plate being provided with supportingarms having angularly-bent prongs for insertion through the article to which the holster is to be attached one of said prongs being revoluble with respect to the other.

3. The combination with a holster, of a carrier-plate having a supporting-arm provided With a fixed prong for insertion through the article to which the holster is to be attached, and a button provided with a terminal prong revolubly mounted on the supporting-arm and coacting with the fixed prong for locking the holster to said article.

4- The combination with a holster, of a carrier-plate secured thereto and embracing the mouth of the holster, said plate being provided with a pair of spaced supporting-arms having fixed prongs for insertion through the article to which the holster is to be attached, and means coacting with said prongs for lock ing the holster to said article.

5. The combination with a holster, of a carrier-plate secured thereto and embracing the mouth of the holster, said plate being provided With a pair of spring supporting-arms having angularly-bent prongs for insertion through the article to which the holster is to be attached one of said prongs being revoluble with respect to the other.

6. The combination with a holster, of a carrier-plate having laterally-extending arms for securement to the holster, supporting arms provided with terminal openings carried by the plate and spaced therefrom, angularlydisposed prongs secured to the supportingarms and adapted to be inserted through the article to which the holster is to be attached, and buttons provided With terminal prongs revolubly mounted in the openings in the supporting-arms and coacting with the prongs for locking the holster to said article.
